does anyone look at the simple things first anymore? my 4k was going to 3/4 on the temp gauge when it normally sits on 1/4. first then i done was install a digital temp gauge. temp gauge shows a healthy 80 degrees! while the stock gauge shows 3/4!? i replace the stock send now i have two working temp gauges FTW

gday fellas. i have a problem with my idle atm (its been a problem from day one). i can change from 45 idle jets to 60's and i cannot get my idle less that 1500 rpm. first thing i checked was vac leaks. none present. with any type of air filter it runs MEGA rich. i realized this when my o2 gauge always showed rich. i removed the air filter and i could lean out with the pri's. i put the air cleaner back on and she showed rich. while fiddling with my carby i found that fuel was pooling up on the primary butterfly. its coming from the primary venturi. it kinda make sense why it was running rich with a air filter, air filter was causing a slight restriction causing the fuel to be sucked out of the venturi more. at idle i watch the o2 gauge and it leans out then randomly richens up and idle goes up to 1500. fuel bowl level is correct. idle jets are 40/45 I'm stumped. what else should i check to diagnose my problem? video of the problem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAAIo1TR2CY

also did you run in the cam? i think if your cam timing was out youll lose performance not just die/backfire have you replace the coil? none of the eye terminals are near the spark outlet of the coil? edit - has it always been like this? what did the muppets do when they dyno tuned it? sounds ignition related to me but. id run another stock dissy and coil with a simple consistant power to it and a negative feed from the points, just to test it out

I'm dialing in a 474 tighe cam. i set up my micrometer on the lifter and none of my measurements were the same as there website. i rang up tighe today and found out the cam is 2.5degrees advance. (if you use the stock markings) advance cam will give you torque and less power in higher rpm retarded cam will give you more power up top. i belive i had my previous cam installed 3 teeth out. Ring Tighe and ask if there's any advance on that cam, are you using the same balancer and timing cover?

i have a 240 duration @ 50 thou cam in my 4k. i felt a BIG flat spot till 3 grand then the cam kicked in, at that time i was running 8 degrees of timing. now running 22+ and no flat spot and pulls like a school boy. i think its the same as a tighe 150A. is it to big to be in a daily? f@$k no! cam kicks in at 2750. rev it till 4 and change gears and youll still be in your cam range in the next gear. 2nd gear is 95kph, 3rd is 120ish 4th is off the speedo :P go hard or go home

check for vac leaks! check all the manifold/carby bolts for tightness.

the a/c isnt always engaged. only when you flick it on it drains power from the engine. so the only thing youll gain from removing it is weight! ?

i told the lady on the fone that I'm trying to organise a cruise/camping trip. she couldnt give a rats ass!. 4 nights - $40 parking $9 a night - $36 total $76, ill be parking onsite ftw. come on! more people need to be keen for this!

on the subject on cars. they wont allow us to have 20 cars on the site. it will be $9 a car per night or park outside. c**ts!

whats the fuel bowl level like? you running a return line off the carby? if it was over pressurizing wouldnt it all the excess fuel be bypassed into the return?

maybe go ke70 steering arms as there shorter than ke30 and camber tops? how much gap is between the rim and strut? would a more postive offset be suited?
