OMG!!! That's some HOT SHIT!!! I love superlites on KEs!!
-
"chickenfeed" (which is a cheap $2 junk store here in Tassie) had aerosol degreaser cans 3 for $5... Used 5 of them but its all good. I'm happy how it cleaned up!! Only thing is that the grease and grime was probably keeping things sealed up... Watch it leak like a sieve now!!
-
And they are set to go UP in price yet too!! A friend in the UK sent me a few autotrader pages with Sprinters (aka GTS in the UK) priced around 6000-7000 POUNDS!! Thats like $15k- $18k AUD boy and girls!!

**Update** Got the 4k going today.. Just a few misplaced wires :) Decided to give it a degrease too. Before and after pics follow... BEFORE AFTER Also fitted a thermo fan that was laying around (hence no fan on the front of engine). It should be sufficient to keep the 'K' cool!! :( Next: Exhaust and shocks :)

Who Can Name The Most Number Of Corollaz
st.nick replied to Dreamer's topic in Automotive Discussion
Hey didn't someone post this list last week or the week before?? Coz I remember that the left off the KE55 XX coupe... -
Spent a few hours in the RAIN :D today swapping motors in the van today... The 4k that went in is a bit dirty, but was recently rebuilt apparently. Gonna ditch the head swap til the van is all sorted and rego'd.
-
*UPDATE* I layed in the driveway today for 5 hours, in the f**king rain, changing engines in P:36. Hired an engine crane from Coates (used to be Wreckair) for $35, so I had to do the swap regardless of weather... :( Swapped in a 4k. Unsure of its history... apparently it was rebuilt a few years ago. The rear-main leaks a bit I think (coz it was a shocking mess), but it turns over, and was running when the Rallycar Project arrived in my life. Couldn't get it to fire... I don't think I've wired it up properly. :D Will have a look tomorrow... Decided to put off the head swap just for now... Get it going rego'd and all sorted first ;) Can't wait to drive it with the suspension mods.

Thats well stylin'!! Why didn't Aus get those :D Nearly as stylish as the KE30 2dr sedan!! (...nearly!!) Hahaha!!
-
Had to strip the bumper to improve air flow into the intercooler and into the brake ducts!! Ahh... Yeah, right!!
-
Uh huh!!!! :D Especially with a 250BHP group A engine!! :( Tho seeing video of 4wd tyre-smoke at a tarmac hillclimb is pretty awesome!!
-
Its shit-loads of fun tho, eh!! I remember running my ol' 323 around Symmon's Plains here in Tassie. I'm not a circuit racing fan in the slightest, but having your own car to throw around a race circuit is AWESOME fun!!

Wow!!! Thats awesome!! KE30 in the UK... :D I've a mate over there who is a mad old Celica and AE86 nutter. Loves them, and has told me exactly how scarce these old Toyotas are. There should be a law against salting the roads in winter too!! So many great cars DYING for too much salt!! :(
-
Nice one!! thanks 4 dat... I think Rjenman & I were thinking the same ideas at nearly the same time. Hence 2 threads with the same meanings!! :D

Redwarf... LOVE the sig!! So true, my friend. So true!! I think my old car was the basis for this saying!! :D

As I've said previously, BHP is not the be-all-and-end-all of a great car. What's the point of having 1000bhp if you can't stop or steer the bloody thing!! I've seen some pretty low-power cars absolutely KILL cars with up to double the power!! :D Mainly coz the low-power cars have had all their $$ spent on brakes and suspension... They can out-brake and out-handle higher BHP cars. To make your KE70 noticably quicker, you'll have to add quite a few BHP (like double it...). And swapping to an A series or rebuilt K-series engine is gonna (realistically) cost you atleast $1000. Peformance mods on top of that will make the $$ skyrocket!! However, if you concentrate on suspension and brakes, you'll find the car will be more 'pro-active' in teaching you how to drive quickly and smoothly. And it will feel quicker... New discs and pads, stiffer shocks and new suspension rubbers will make the car handle and stop 10x better. And even though it may not win the 'Traffic-light Grand Prix', it'll teach you HOW to drive a car on the limit, and next time someone decides to prove to you how great they can drive, you suggest racing them on a twisty downhill somewhere... That'll sort the men from the boys!! :(
-
Ah, Sweet!! Thats what I needed to know... Cool. That helps alot. :D Heads and engines will be swapped for "P:36" this week, I'll keep y'all posted :(

Wouldn't the 'bigport' head have different sized (bigger??) exhaust ports?? If so, then a 'regular' set of 3k extractors wouldn't be the same size as the 'bigport' ports... I'm totally lost, I've only ever dealt with the factory cast manifolds, and only found out last month that there was sucha thing as a'bigport' head!! :D
-
So true. A friend of mine bought a $800 Camira wagon, dropped it onto the bumpstops, straight thru exhaust, big carby and some pretty flash tyres.. and went circuit racing at a club day!! Beat everything in his class, and even showed some 'racecars' up!! He also bought a suzuki Baleno hatch... grafted TX-3 balljoints onto the front, adjusted camber at the back, mated 2 plenum chambers together (to basically create a quad-throttle body), 3in mandrel bent stainless exhaust (still the best 4cyl I've EVER heard!!), tx-3 wheels and sticky tyres!! It Disgraced ALOT of respected hillclimb cars last year!! He's a bit of a demon behind the wheel tho...
-
Ok. So no changing of rocker-gear (as rollered seemed to believe)?? Is it likely to ping its tits off?? And if i buy extractors, they'll have to be KE20 ones, not KE30, correct?? Anything else I should know??
-
Right, I know this has be covered 43,462 times, but... 3k head (bigport or otherwise) onto 4k block: Will it work?? I read Rollered posts on this topic and got nothing useful... Advice?? Experience??
-
This is how I mounted the front indicators/park lights. Just chopped and re welded the brackets...
-
3k head This could be a bargain... Gonna be pretty high compression me thinks. :harhar:
