i'm pretty sure that the early 4 cylinder toyota motors were non-interfearance. so you may be able to get away with just replacing the belt Edit: i had a look around on google for a bit and it looks like i'm right..... the 4AC is a NON-Interference motor...

i have the cleaning vents that irokin is talking about..... this is not my engine bay, however you can see the black plates that cover the vents.....
