haha what did you blow? i got fined 300 for .082, 3 month suspension, and got a work license. mate who got done at the same time got 3 month suspension, no work license, and a 400 fine, for .094

yeah i dunno, beenleigh bearings had the matching cylinders off the shelf, dunno about shoes for it though. yeah i definately prefer it over the te71 :) yeah, the HKS 1g will be going in as soon as its registered, then a base tune done, then it will come and get built for lots of ponies you can't swap a whole firewall, cause you take the VIN with it, and they call it rebirthing. if you did it below the VIN, I'm not sure, to be honest i havnt read into it properly, i always knew i would have the pieces i needed, if i did go ahead with it, so didnt look into how they wanted it done, i would obviously have to consult with my engineer and he will tell me how he wants it done, but it would make sense to take a whole fire wall, if i didnt want to change the steering angle, but i might, if i do go RHD, swap in something that wont give me bump steer and i can get a powersteering quick rack for. i really have too many options who can tell me, what local car should we be looking for in the books to give us a listing for the 3t-c, for when i go to get the headgasket etc couldnt find te71, and apparently not in any celicas in the book the guys had, but that was when we were looking for auto gearbox mounts, and every book seems to have different stuff in it.

heads off leaking between every cylinder, made obvious by a desire to run like a 3 legged dog pulling a sack of spuds across a frozen lake once hot, ran sweet as with no water in it head looks ok though bah

alight, so yesterday i only got a couple of hours on the car, identified why it had next to no brake fluid in it, leaking rear brake cylinders. big surprise there hey :P so replaced the pair of those for $32 and bled all the brakes. car doesnt actually drive too bad :) also identified 2 major oil leaks, there was no copper washer on the sump plug, so that was an easy fix, and the sump pan on the auto was leaking out all 4 sides, and had high temp red sealant on it, so i thought, owell, i can check the bolts. they were all loose a good turn, some finger tight, so tightened that up and its no longer leaking :) remaining leaks are tranny -> tailshaft seal, and 3 points on the oil cooler hoses for the auto. damn i hate autos... so today i got the whole car in the air, and checked the front brakes, right hand side was binding completely, so pulled that caliper, cleaned up the seized piston, and got it ready to go back together. pulled the tailshaft and the seal out the back of the auto, tailshaft has a massive wear groove in, hence it leaking centre bearing was ready to fall apart on the tailshaft gearbox mount was disintegrating, just like every other rubber component in the car i think that was all so went to beenleigh bearings (best bearing place, would not have got these parts without them, half of them they recognised by eye from other models) so the front seal kits for the brakes wernt bad and 19 for the pair the sleeve for the tailshaft was 40 bucks, and the oil seal only 8, dammit it being so worn brake pads were 65, only needed the side that had been binding, the other side is still near new, dam people not maintaining cars :bash: gearbox mount, which was from a hilux was 45 and the real killer, the centre bearing was over 150 so by the time i bought that, some new feeler gauges and seal kits from the brakes on my patrol i walked away $500 poorer :( registering it standard is starting to seem like a poor choice, considering all the suspension bushes now need doing. but what can we do hey :) atleast I'm making progress, hopefully get this stuff in tomorrow, although doubtful with a mates birthday tonight, and then got work from the 2nd, but ill get there :D

and i really really need to make mention of the man who made this all possible elvin, he runs wes toy connection, and is a parts sourcer on the west coast, hence me getting a california car, having somewhere to store it for over 3 months, in his driveway as i bought the tools, having somewhere to ship everything i bought inside the US, he even bought the tools for me once i sent him the money, then having someone to take the car to the shipping yard. I would not have been able to do this without him. we have movement :) about a litre of auto fluid and she was moving back and forward all by herself :) now i gotta do some more driving around, and then continue working on my drainage problem when i get home, but maybe ill get to do a little work on it later :) brakes seem to work alright too, if not for the 4 foot of pedal travel before they do anything :P

so today i degreased everything, as the auto looks like it just pours all the fluid its given from every possible orifice, so tomorrow i will fill it up, and try and find where it actually does leak from, now theres half an inch less grease on it. was gonna do it this arvo but did some driving around to deliver some stuff then dug about 40m of drainage trenching. so atleast my shed will stop flooding :) and the car needed to dry after the high pressure hosing it got, so i might get to it tomorrow :)

the one in my 1g ke70 was done the way the OP said, I'm pretty sure anyway, there was definately nothing as complex as what your saying sam, why does it have to go in factory position? cheers, andy

ring a signatory engineer and get one to say they will approve it and what they want you to do to approve. then pay to have them put it in writing. then do it, and pay them more to engineer the car :)

but for 25 bucks then i don't even have to clean the surface, they do it for me, its just too easy :)

you forgot to mention skim the head :P i will consider it, but avoid it if i can, i could do it in a day if i fail a road worthy because of it, so I'm game to try my luck :rolls: and yeah, it turns either way but springs back, not the adjustment for the variable intermittant, ill take a pic. almost like a rear wiper or something, but obviously isnt... if i had of imported a bunch of these at an early date, do you think i would have built the first one as a four door, then tried to convert a 4 door, then spent 15months bringing in this thing :lolcry:

oh and so i don't forget, the heater tap doo-daa is leaking, so i must swap that :) also excited by the adjustable intermittant wipers, and an extra thingy on that lever that twists either way, but i ahvnt worked out what it does yet :P

ahahahahah i lol'd after my earlier update i pulled the rocker cover off and found this how long do you think its been sitting to get that rusty? I'm impressed its running at all, let alone how well it is, starts to get lumpy as it gets hot, but not that bad, might just need a tune up. with the rocker cover off i undid the head bolts and retightened them, hoping to cure the reported BHG. i decided i might aswell do the valve clearances while i was there, just to check them, and lucky i did. after tightening the head, its pulled it down so far, i think i only found 2 valves that would rock, the rest i had to wind out just to get tension off the spring to set the clearance,think the head was a bit loose :huh: interesting thing was the compression reading, i took them before doing the head bolts and after doing the head bolts and valve clearances CYL ....Before.....After 1 ... 180 ........185 2 ... 190 ........190 3 ... 200 ........190 4 ... 190 ........185 fairly good compression i thought :) still undecided whether to whip the head off or risk and see how i go, I'm thinking tomorrow i might just focus on cleaning it up, bleeding the brakes, and seeing if it will move etc, just get it neat and ready for roadie, and if it holds together til then, ill see if they pick it. hopefully they will be a bit lenient as i am keeping it, not selling it. cheers, andy

pretty sure I'm going to use this car. keeping it LHD and going to rack and pinion, with power steer and a quick rack or going RHD and not being able to go power steer but with a quick rack I'm not sure yet, gonna see how it feels to drive it LHD, but it would be pretty cool, just dunno how it would be for track etc

ok, quick update the rain is continuing, and the swamp in my backyard has deepened further, making walking on any grass an excercise that will result in a lost thong. On the car front, i have got it running :D did as i said, dropped the oil, and replaced with used diesel oil, which was better than the milkshake that came out. dropped the coolant, which was just clean water :glare: and tried to start it. turned over alright but wouldnt fire at all. with no start ya bastard i got some carby cleaner and sprayed as the old man turned it over, which resulted in it pre-igniting, so went old school and a dash of petrol down the carby saw it fire. but not run on. did this 3 times and it decided it would pull some fuel up and run under its own steam, near faultlessly once i blocked off the open vac lines. so shut it down, took the thermostat out and cleaned it and got it working, which it didnt wanna do at first, flushed the epic amounts of rust out of the block and radiator, and filled it up with some clean water, and fired it up. runs alright, a little lumpy at idle but fine with some revs, contemplating retensioning head bolts and hoping i get through a road worthy with the motor in the condition it is, could always bump the idle a bit to make it sound better... then its time to see if the auto will make the car move under its own steam, and find out why theres only a dribble of brake fluid in it. then degrease it all and see what happens from there :)

schumacher cargo shipped it. they put a few cars in a container at a time, and let me put anything i wanted inside the car, which was pretty good, and their prices came out best, cost me 1650 US i think, then nearly as much to get it through the ports once i got it here, which the freight forwarder on this end didnt really explain to me. but owell :)

who wants to buy it? find? its not a find :P i started looking for panels in the states since september last year and ended up bringing a whole car in, which was relatively cost effective (if you can call it that) until i got slugged another 8 or 9 hundred to get the car out of the container. grr. nearly 700 of which was simply unpack and dehire container :blinks: but owell, its mine now, and ive got a good contact, in california, so if anyone wants one i could prob get another rust free one, this one has a few dents, but the worst rust, is some bubbling in the spare wheel well...in australia I'm impressed find a spare wheel well that will still hold a spare wheel :P thanks for the support guys, maybe tomorrow ill get chance to have a play with it, rum in one hand, prawns in the other...sounds like paradise hahah
