  1. haha I'm in this boat too with my ute. usually cause I'm texting or some shit and hear the sirens and I'm like ahh f@$k!
  2. haha oh, i don't think thats the worst though. id hate to clean portaloos for a living...
  3. why go up a bore size if you don't need to? 40 bucks is good for a new piston. id be looking into that. if not i can help you out with a motor i have sitting here. cheers, andy
  4. does pipe ftw. http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=111492 that is all
  5. what do you do?
  6. I'm pretty friendly with the bloke that works at the tyre shop i go to. been there 5 or 6 years, was excited when he got a pay rise to 700 a week :blinks: so yeah, if you just wanna work, do it, but theres labour hire companies you can go with for much better money than trainee wages, and you don't end up qualified in a shit paying industry
  7. yeah running fuel through an intercooler is a really bad idea.
  8. ok, i see how this can be getting confusing. standard 1ggte pistons and rods will bolt into a 4k motor, and yes, they are as strong as you could possibly ask for in a 4k.
  9. nah mate, 1g gear goes straight into a 4k. i don't think they share a bore or stroke, so useless drivel for this thread, unless they do share one or the other
  10. standard pistons and rods will fit :)
  11. is both the bore and stroke bigger on a 7k than a 4k? if you were using a 4k you could use 1G GTE internals, but i don't think you can on a 7k :(
  12. i havnt read the thread start to finish, but i saw you say your leaning towards towards tuff NA. the question i have is, do you want a motor that feels fast, or one that revs hard? torquey motors, ie supercharged or well sized turbo will feel faster and punchier and not feel like your working them as hard to get the car going due to the torque, this is probably what you experienced when you did the engine conversion. if you build a tuff NA motor, you will feel like your continually floggin the twat out of the thing to get it to move...
  13. so cinky, you'd rather waste cash on interest then suffer a slump in the account figures? sounds silly to me...
  14. 13, that sounds ominous. i might get to it this weekend. will be the 4th tappet adjustment in 10km on the 3t love project cars and doing head gaskets etc  i actually drove it tonight :blinks: rolla ken, atleast your honest about it, better than some blokes ive met, doin some seriously oddball things telling me they know what theyre doing...
  15. well this sucks. at least mine is fairly noticable, being LHD and all :P man i would be pissed if it got stolen!
  16. this intrigues me. is there a way to do this rule of 9 on a straight 6? 12 valve diseasal. and a 24 valve 1g? and you also reminded me i need to look into my vacuum i have no vac advance whatsoever at the moment might do the rule of 9 on the 3tc this weekend maybe... see how different they are
  17. cinky, why not just save money for 6 months and buy the car with cash? then you earn interest rather than paying it, and you don't have to deal with dirty loan companies
  18. i see, impressed with the full rego. who blue plated the cage? my engineer doesnt wanna blue plate a weld in 6 point, maybe you could PM me? glad you got it rego'd, sounds like it went rather hassle free :)
  19. why was the detective so interested? ohh, concessional rego? so wanted to check what your doing or some such?
  20. I'm happy to leave it mate, I'm not trying to make you feel like a dick or turn it into a shit fight or anything, and obvious you have learnt, i just hate to see situations like this get played down, cause there are so many young guys on the forum, first cars etc, and my mums a nurse, shes seen the sort of shit that comes from these sorts off accidents. cheers, andy :)
  21. go find out for us, but i doubt it
  22. so why didnt you put 2 in? do you think 5 or 6 inches of steel under the crossmember would keep you from getting crushed by the car? this is how serious accidents happen...
  23. i thought it was acacia ridge
  24. maybe if you had of laid 2 wheels flat under the crossmember, rather than one standing up the safety attempt may have been more successful, and less humourous. if you had of been under the car it may well have qualified for a darwin award :P
  25. people who own corollas calling them carollas
