mmm, i like ;) it will do its very best to twist the chassis. mainly where theres the gap between the rails, and also the join from the front rails just behind the firewall, how they overlap the floor pan rails, thats where mine decided to start opening up. if you seam weld it, and get defected, you will never get the car back on the road. ever. I'm only caging mine, weld in however, and a serious cage at that, but that should be enough, and I'm after 400 at the tyres, from a turbo motor though, so probably not as much twisting action as you will see. check out some of the PR guys cars, they stick very very well, not sure how much has been done to them. its already a 4 link + panhard setup, so not much else to go with for dragging. so stick whatever diff you want under it, 9" are cheap, well known and easy to get parts for. might ahve to run a taller tyre to keep legal ground clearance though. keep us up to date :)

the sump will be f@$ked, the nut will be fine. get a new sump. thats my guess anyway...

i did more damage to a thread with the rattlegun, but its up to you to try it. what do you mean you need 3 nuts just to get the socket over the end of the stud? are you using a short socket? probably much easier if you had a long socket, i put about 4 washers to clear the blank section that comes through the hub, then just ran the nut on.

i found the rattlegun slower than doing it with a ratchet, big powerful rattlegun too. just line them up, put a few washers on, andrun the nut on, make sure the splines are in line and wind it on with the ratchet, finish it off with a big breaker bar or torque wrench. if your going out and buying a compressor and rattlegun just for this job, i doubt your actually going to get a compressor big enough to flow the air to keep up with a rattle gun, and will just end up giving yourself the shits. i did 6 on my ute in about 30 minutes, thats removal and refit... as a note, make sure they really are in there tight as can be, if not you end up with loose wheel nuts the next day if they slip in that 'little bit' further. cheers, andy

lol, you know the car I'm building, and diesels don't rev hard...the whole idea of doing it is to show off how responsive ones setup is, which is why it used to work so well in my old corolla, and also in the ute, as it takes f@$k all effort to get positive displacement...

its all recorded, if you are positive, then pay to have the recording reviewed, yes they will charge you, then slam it in their face when you are right, and they are wrong, because telstra are c**ts.

so when u put the headgasket on, was the hole bigger or smaller than the bore? its not just because your turning the valve train over etc once the heads hard done is it? how much effort is it taking?

thats what fuel filters are for, don't let the tank sit empty, rust inside will make your life a bit of a carnt...

well arnt you a hard done by little princess try being out in it, we don't stop, only day we went home cause of heat, was when it was 43* at 1030 in the morning, out ipswich way. if it bothers you so much, buy some big fans to put around your work area

lol, it gets spirited, but theres nothing to be worried about, the youngun on the last trip wasnt concerned at all, apart from ants and spiders, so we couldnt have been too bad :)

for future reference, an easier alternative to using silicon type sealant for those gaskets, is to use non-hardening aviation sealant, quicker cleaner and easier to apply, and probably works better, just brush it on, cause its liquidy, and it never leaks. keep an eye out for it :) good progress being made, good to see youve focused your efforts :) wish i was making progress haha

wow that does suck, cop mustnt have liked you. i got booked doing nearly 139 in NSW driving home from sydney to brisbane the inland way, and when the cop asked for my license i flipped my wallet open only to find it not there. as id been out the night before i thought it must have been in my pockets of my jeans from the night before, so open the boot and unzip my bag to have 3 nearly empty bottles of spirits roll out, and still couldnt find it. he rung through to the station and they couldnt find proof of me having a qld license, but he still let me go with just a speeding infringement, saying if he couldnt find my license in the system i would have more dramas. either your laws are different or i got a decent cop, either way, thats sucks for you. my license showed up in the bottom of my bag once i got home. and so many P platers get booked for their plates having fallen off, it takes 2 seconds to have a quick look before you leave, make sure theyre on and secure, would save a lot of hassles..

what was the fine for? and jip thats the thing, ive been booked in the slow cars not the fast ones...go figure

banning turbo diesels is just stupid. what was there reasoning? they didnt do that up here... felix, high power or low power, young drivers are still gonna drive like tools and still gonna experiment, so they will always be over represented in statistics, its hardly a new thing, its just focused on more now. funny thing, the 1g corolla is the only car i havnt been booked in...

started driving my 1g ke70 at age 17... its tools that can't drive that agree with the laws :wink:
