  1. what was done to it? 8000 is low for a speedway car haha whos dyno was it on? got a graph?
  2. at what RPM?
  3. you didnt test all the given timings without the airfilter? hard to tell if the timing or the no air filter helped you with the 11* run. who was dyno-ing it? you should have been able to play with jets in the carby to richen the top end up a bit, but at the end of the day, theres a reason people put better carbies on there... what is the purpose of this thread? I'm struggling to comprehend what your asking? or are you just putting it out there?
  4. yupp, to do it properly you should get it machined as a rotating assembly. you can, however, just get it machined and balanced and run with it. plenty of people have done it before. but with this motor, I'm assuming your gonna wanna rev the ring out of it, so may not be the best idea to be tempting the balance.... talk to a shop about it, easier before you put everything back together :P
  5. special K is a bit harsh just for stealin a few vegies haha! wicked halucinations
  6. how much play ahve you got? have to allow for the fact theres always gonna be some backlash in the gears, especially how many thousand kms later...
  7. it means you can run 80 amps of draw, rather than the factory 40 or 50 etc so you can run more electrics, like thermos, lots of lights, electric winch etc etc, should maintain spark strength better too. dunno if it charges faster, doubt it... underdriving it means it spins slower. so less charge down low, not really a good thing. the pulley is pretty small already, i would only underdrive it if it was a race car, and was definately going to spend the majority of its life high in the rpm. obviously the benefit is, the slower you spin it, the less drag it creates. the difference it would make, i don't know. but having an alt running to not running is a big difference in load, ie, it was spinning, but not charging, once i connected it to signal to charge, the idle dropped along way, so i don't think it would make a huge difference, as alot of the load is created just because its charging, dunno how much difference speed makes...
  8. yeah, to the passenger side would be panhard too long. why did you replace. what is the replacement how much difference in length is there between the two? there are two solutions, get a panhard the right length, or lift the suspension, lengthening the long side of the triangle to centre the diff...
  9. mine runs a 1ggte, no firewall mods, and the handling wasnt bad...theres alot you can do...
  10. that settles it, ill be at jambo :hmm:
  11. id rather an off its tits 186 anyday, maybe out to a 193..
  12. when you pulled the head off, did the headgasket show signs of blowing? driving it with the oil light on is a sure fire way of spinning a bearing, and doing much other damage. if the oil pressure light comes on, or your gauge shows very little pressure, kill it, then work out whats going on
  13. but bro its a 5 litahh!!!
  14. trevs back? I'm afraid
  15. i just think i really should make it clear. rollaclub does not endorse spring cutting. and are you going to use a shorter shock absorber to keep the spring captive on full travel?
  16. thats even f@$kin worse. springs are tempered steel, f@$k with that and i really wouldnt wanna be involved, at least with cutting its only the end which is supported that has its structure damaged. i know heating and setting coils is a big thing in NZ, but i don't know of many people that would do it over here.
  17. in a decent conversion the motor tends to be quite a small factor in the overall cost
  18. well its a compressed springs it will uncompress at a rapid rate until it hits the spring hat. might be dangerous, might not. take photos and let us know how you go  btw, go buy lowered springs, cutting springs is bad
  19. just cut them while in there she'll be f@$kin right
  20. if your doing it, go the 5.7, the 5 litre is just a waste of time now. or even the LS1, can get the crate motor for 6K...
  21. man thats awesome  i wanna come out and see it run soon, post up before you head out next time... video was good quality too, glad to see this car only getting better
  22. haha awesome did they vacuum your beds? thats just wrong! lol
  23. lol, some people already can with a 4k. depends on the driver, and the levels of mechanical disrespect you wish to show, the trick is to mash it from reverse to first and drop the clutch while still going backwards  and old dodgy tyres help alot :( but yes, I'm sure the 7k would do it beter, but its still only 140nm and no revs
  24. kirby, the vacuum cleaners? i used to sell them, awesome things, worth the money, shame the sales job sucked lol
  25. that torque would make a HUGE difference, and you will find the 7k with mild work would be much more lively than that. and its gonna be alot neater and more headache free than a turbo 4k, and probably cost about the same, depending on factors...
