  2. Build has successfully started, got a few pic's. Will write more when I have the energy What we started with What it's like at the moment Most of the wiring out and dash almost ready to come out The new beast out of it again This shows a big rust hole at the bottom of the plenum, looking into what we can do to stop this from happening in the future Got major re-wire plans for the whole electrical system including all hidden wiring and whatnot, battery to the boot and so on. Also got some mad dash plans with some awesome looking gauges.....but got lots of diagrams to draw up first. Anyway I'm going to go pass out will have an update hopefully very soon.
  3. No and there basically the same.......to cut a long story short (or opinions short anyway)
  4. Positive side of coil to ballist then to ignition Negative to wire coming from distributor.
  5. Nuh, to be honest with you it was a simple mistake.....it does say Positive and Negative on the coil so I would understand the confusion.
  6. While I was at tafe studying for my trade they always said never to disconnect the battery while the engine is running, I didn't bother to mention that you get massive volatge spikes when you do this which can cause serious damage to electronic components as it's a te31 and wouldn't have sensitive equipment on board. I just re-read that and I'm not trying to come off like a know it all, just saying that it's the way I was taught. :)
  7. DO NOT DO THIS!!!! This is extremely bad for your alternator as it will think it needs to apply full output with no where to go...... Also if your using a voltmeter and the car is running you should be getting 13.8 volts. If you can start with a jumper battery but not without one I'd say the battery is screwed, if it's older than say 4 years I'd look into buying a new battery.
  8. Ofcourse though this is all here or hear say....
  9. Ah...didn't spot that....this could indeed be the problem.
  10. I think if the coil is always energised and never discharged it will get hot, just check the points and come back cause you said you replaced the coil so that's the last thing. Oh and just double check to see if you have an ignition feed on the positive terminal and that the earth side goes to the coil (and maybe your tacho)
  11. Check your points!! Take the cap off the dizzy and look inside, tell someone to turn over the engine and see if the points are opening and closing. Like altezzaclub has previously stated Oh and what I think he means altezza is that he puts the coil output down to an earth to see if it's out put the spark, not to see if the earth signal from the distributor is on and off.
  12. So at the end of the day if it's the same car, same engine, same gearbox but with the only difference being is that one is NA and the other is turbo is that the result would be totally dependant on how the engines have been setup and where they make the power and torque.......It has nothing to do with how cool turbo's are or whatever car you bring into this as from the original post it was always the same car same engine. Cheers for your responses guys.
  13. I think it's all drivers these days, no one gives a shit about anyone else on the road. And this is a WGMG btw
  14. Nice.
  15. Hey thanks guys, yeah nothing on ebay and found three year old WTB threads.....I think redwarf purchased some in the past but unsure. Found this as well http://senyumsuka.blogspot.com/
  16. Hey guys didn't know where to post this but does anyone know what these lights are from? Cheers
  17. My mate has a landcruiser and basically says when people cut him off they just want to be tailgated and horned, I am the same....it's worse when people cut you off into a free lane and go under the speed limit.....
  18. So what your saying is if a NA motor has a greater "area under the curve" this theoretically means it would be quicker than a turbo motor.
  19. Hey guys, I recently had quiet an extensive argument with a mate of mine about a NA car vs a turbo car. Basically what I was saying is if two cars lined up to each other and they both were making the same power but differently aspirated (turbo and NA) the NA would have more chance of winning, as the power is all done internally and doesn't rely on a turbo. My boss was saying that it would depend on how the NA car was tuned as in what Cam/headwork/blockwork was done. So what do you guys reckon?
  20. Metal head gasket and NOS.....

Haha don't have a sister man, went to braeview and woodcroft if that helps....suby's my parts storage unit for the next couple of weeks.
  22. Alright, thought I was gonna get the twin dellorto's on the car and be able to drive it for a bit but a mate has offered to do all the body work and get it in primer ready to be painted. So I'll be dropping it off maybe tomorrow to get all that done, and also planning what's going to happen with the dash and everything else......will have major updates in a couple of weeks.
