not getting everything done!

You know the days you plan out a bunch of stuff that you need/want to get done, think it all over in your head, write a list and deem that there is more then enough time to get it all done..

Then you end up in a rush, the weather f@$ks you up and you get 3/4 of it done knowing its going to now all move into your nice long weekend and make you busy for the whole time!

Ive got two cars (my VT and Karlies seca) that need new engine mounts (two in the VT, front centre on karlies) commodore needs a service, and I have ALOT of shit to finish around the house before our housewarming party!

stress stress stress!

WGMG - most times when I open web-pages at work, they come up saying "page could not be found" or the like. Refresh, and everything is all normal. However, Rollaclub usually doesn't work. It'll keep saying "page not found" unless I let it sit about 10 minutes before refreshing

WAlsoGMG - drawing changes. Grrrrrr, I finalised that guard weeks ago, all signed off and entered into the system, then this morning it gets dumped on my desk with a new bend added and one of the slots removed, to "accommodate variances in frames".......grrrrrrr

Being sick when I really need the money... Started to feel like I was coming down with something on Sunday, felt alright yesterday but still not the best. Then I woke up this morning and felt like shit. Too sick to go to work. And we are heaps busy at work at the moment and I really need the money. GRRRR

Thats why I love full time employment.

Paid Holidays, sick leave and public holidays.

Which is why I can't wait until I go full time, but the company needs to make money first and we're all getting sick of being on stop-credit with most of our suppliers.

What a great attitude to have???

I deal with people like you everyday that then genuinely get sick and don't have any leave to cover it.

Have you thought about that ever happening to you??

WGMG - chasing places who make parts for you but you can't get into contact with them to actually buy something

Which is why I think more businesses should adopt doona-days.

Don't get me wrong I am all for the occasional "mental health day" but you should keep some sick days for when you get really sick.

Most companies will look after you when/if you become quite ill if they can see that you have generally had a good record in relation to leave.

When I get people whinge to me that they are not going to get paid due to lack of sick leave and I can see they have generally abused the system I don't give two shits and tell them to keep walking

i am yet to take an actual sick day myself in my current job. i get 20 days a year, and have 5 left.

my partner has used all of hers, and has just bought herself another 10 days thru salary sacrifice.

getting sick is just something that happens to some people more than others, so why should either party be punished for being/not being sick?

luke, do you propose that people can have as many sick days as they need each year? can i work for you?? i'll come in each monday to say i'm not feeling the best this week and then go home.

WGMG is my big brother. Hes 29 and he rang our mother to have a teary because I hung up on him.

He phoned me the day after my car accident and his opening line was: "What the f@$k have you gone and done now?"

I asked if he could be compassionate perhaps, and he started bringing up his issues with me from childhood, tit for tat style.

Of course I hung up.

Didnt even ask me how I was, and hasnt rung back.

Gotta love family.

Oh yes i know that feeling all to well. Most weekends i think i'm doing pretty good if i get half of the stuff i want done. And half of what i'm wanting to do gets done cause its places that i want to visit while we're running around town. The other half i don't even get a chance cause i'm too bloody busy chasing after kids cause all their bloody mother does is scream at them from the indent she has in the couch that she doesn't want to bloody move out of....

She went away for the weekend just gone - a mother's weekend camp or something. So i thought all good things about it, the kids were more or less behaving themselves. So i was going to get out and mow the back yard, finely, and do some general backyard odd jobs.... but oh no the phuckin weather wouldn't have bar of that... each time i set a foot outside it starting pissing down...

So little ol' me thought oh well i may as well re-do the filter etc on the fish tank. Half way through it, disconnecting the lights, filter etc, cutting up pipes, gluing pipes etc. Got about half way and starting to dig though the parts i ordered to finish the job and realised that i'm missing some of the stuff cause they've sent the wrong items. So i thought, phuck it, and used what they sent me cause i had to get the filter and lights back up and running and i just about trashed the garage looking for a pair of hose clamps that i'm firmly believing Borrowers have taken....

Just can't win either way i go at times

My brother is a public servant... He gets TOLD to take his sick days off.

Go figure.

we are almost at that point here.

They had a "voluntary leave reduction program" last month.

Pretty much told everyone they needed to take 4 days of annual leave in the month to make the balance sheet look better

(for those who don't know, the company (not sure if its law or just good policy) must maintain enough cash assets to cover ALL outstanding leave hours of all employees)

Sick leave is something they would now be looking at as it falls under the same umbrella of funds. I did my bit by being crook on monday

ohhh and on the sick leave thing still, I would NEVER reduce my sick leave to zero, thats just stupid. Unexpected things happen (accidents, getting crook, needing an operation etc) and as Luke said, you can usually manage to gain a few days extra if you need it aslong as you havent abused the system previously.

Annual leave days RDOs and public holidays are the days to sit back and enjoy being payed to have the day off, sick days are (generally, I'm guilty of using one or two a year for alternative things) for being sick.
