B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 WGMG: Living in a gated block of town houses. Courier came today with my coil over kit and couldnt get in. :n: Asked them where they are located for pick up, about 10 seconds from my work. Ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. >| Quote
7shades Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Even better... Had a courier rock up the other day, I was home, in the backyard. ʞ©$ɟer left a 'failed delivery' note in the letterbox because the front gate was shut. Yeah nevermind maybe beeping the horn or something you lazy shit... And for added inconvenience, Toll Ipec depot here is across town, at the airport. Quote
JiP Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 WGMG... Was at work today when they shut down the whole facility to brief all the staff. Last time they did that we had a death in the building. Turns out one of my work colleagues hasn't been coming into work and sadly has died, could be some time ago, not sure when. Maybe weeks. He apparently lived alone and nobody noticed. Hits close cause we use to always chat, he was a great guy. He got along with everyone too and all night everyone was talking about him. Also found out he is my age. Such a sad way to go. To think that nobody noticed. Just want to know what really happened. Weather he was depressed, or if the rumours are true that he was heavily into drugs, and maybe had something to do with his death. Hate that I didn't get to know him better. Maybe I could have helped. :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob: Quote
towe001 Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 At a loss for words on that JiP. Might sound stupid but have a drink for him and to hope his soul has gone to a better place. :drinks: Quote
philbey Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 Yay. I aint the only one with 8 odd years of uni. 2 years mining eng, jumped across to metallurgy for 4 years for a B of Sc. Went back for 12 months for a grad dip in education - that was a waste of time. Might of just done the teaching rounds for the good that the uni time did. So what are you actually working as? A met? I spend my days working with mining engineers and Mets and if I didn't do !ech, I reckon metallurgy would have kept me happy enough. It would be good, would make me feel a little less silly about framing my Certificate II in Engineering. I am curious, as engineers (mech &/or civil), do you just design things or do you build them too? In short, yes. I'm not on the tools or anything, but I spent the last 4 years in construction. Did an expansion of a hydro metallurgical process plant, nothing cooler than a 600 tonne crawler crane lifting 150 tonne tanks into place. Then I worked on a shit farm construction job, also a great job. My previous job I spent lots of time designing, then building and testing prototypes. Good fun. Quote

They wanted a met but job had nothing to do with it. Left after 6 months and went making sun blinds. Ended up installing shade sails which was sorta cool travelling Vic doing it. Money was shit though. Did the grad dip and went into teaching. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 The levels of hatred and disdain towards my job atm. Just thinking about being there makes me angry and depressed. I've gotta get a call back for a job application soon, its just getting ridiculous. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 I'm a machine operator, making building flashings. I don't mind the work but I'm over us being understaffed, under paid and over worked. We are ALWAYS behind playing catch up. And the rules, I understand they are there for safety but its like being in a prison. Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 I love how being understaffed and over worked isn't a safety issue though, its cost cutting. Hypocrites Quote
ke70dave Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 i have a grinds my gears. lacking customer service at shops. doing the gift registry thing at myer on the weekend. standing around at the gift registry desk waiting for about 25mins to be served, with a bunch of other people doing the same thing, and the lady kept coming over to us and saying "sorry I'm the only person on this level for the next hour, the other peson is on lunch, i have to serve these people at the register first". she was trying her best, but was just over whelmed from what she was required to do. It was midday on a saturday. Fancy having ONE person on a level of myer for an hour at midday on saturday? And the poor lady is just trying to do her job with absolutely minimal staff and copping a bit of flack from angry customers its not her fault the managers wont put on any extra staff. then the manager comes over to help, but he had no idea what he was doing, was more hindrence than help. Kept asking the lady questions on how to do things. They wonder why their sales have gone to crap. No way do i go anywhere near shops unless i really have to. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 WGMG - Damn the Snoarer is really starting to get on my nerves. It's the combination of all the little things going wrong that add up to an ownership experience that is getting less enjoyable by the day, when it should be an absolute hoot. First, there was the wheel alignment problem, which (after being incorrectly diagnosed by the numpties at Bob Jane to be a bent chassis) was mostly fixed by fully adjusting the tow and then replacing the bushes (which didn't end up getting done because the shop couldn't get them in time, yet they failed to tell us). Then there was the diff, which was overdue for a service and apparently had a small leak - bought new seals for it and a can of Kaaz oil (as they supposedly don't like semi-synthetics) only for the shop to take a day and a half just to pull it out and do the seals (and do the bushes at the same time, see above), and now the diff is even noisier in tight spaces (damn you 2-way). On top of that, there was the alternator-noise in the speakers after the new headunit was put in (wasn't there with the old Eclipse), followed by intermittent loud distortion and finally by the amp dying completely - this wouldn't be as bad as it is if the amp wasn't worth $1k on its own.... And on top of that the engine pipe which scrapes on any bump bigger than a pea (since the new dump pipes were installed), the discoloured paint down the passenger side (and a long stain/mark that appeared out of nowhere), and it just gets _really_ frustrating. There have been several times that we've contemplated selling it (despite having $8k left to pay off on the loan) and buying something newer/more-reliable/not-an-import. And of course the thing that makes it even more annoying to me is the fact that the AE102, despite having driven the distance from the Earth to the Moon, is still motoring along virtually untouched, thumbing its nose in the face of more powerful, more expensive and more unreliable cars. And people wonder why I'd never consider selling it. I just wish we didn't have to spend so much money on the Soarer so I could actually do some real modifying to it..... Quote
