I always love to see people jump on the "I drive perfectly" bandwagon....

Everyone speeds, everyone has tailgated, got frustrated at people driving under or just on the speedlimit etc etc.

No one is perfect and no one is innocent.

When some wally is cruising along at 5 under the speedlimit on a decent stretch of road, it pisses people off.

The society we live in has taught us that things need to happen as quickly and efficiently as possible. Is it logical? nope. Do I agree with it? Nope.

But at the end of the day, blaming the wally that overtook you for "endagering your family" is like blaming the guy you picked a fight with for punching you in the nose...

You know that your driving behaviours, no matter how legal or how correct, are going to cause people to get frustrated behind you.

You obviously know that the outcome of that frustration is silly, dangerous driving that endagers other peoples lives (although I think that whole line is thrown around alot for situations that, while potentially harmful, would result in minor injuries)

So put your good logic to use, remove yourself from the dangerous situation (pull over or speed up)

I'm not saying its a good thing that you should have to, people drive like twats.

The definition of insanity.... doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

You are the only real variable that you can modify/control.

The general populus is not. Their driving skill and IQ are an unlimited variable....

*god help anyone that does bang on the speed limit on the F3 in peak hour in the right lane.....

i struggle to find a good reason to get frustrated at someone doing just on the speed limit. That is the limit.

I'm not sure if the above was directed in response to my post, but like i said originally i was doing exactly on the limit if not 1 or 2 km over. Certainly not under. which is why i was commented on the guy that just had to get in front of someone (ie me) doing the speed limit. I Can't see the logic there.

had i been doing 75 in the 80, then sure my driving is causing others to get frustrated.

I too hate it when people that go under the limit, then back up, then over the limit etc.

The worst is when they do it on country roads, then speed up in the overtaking lanes....

OrangeLJ and KE11, I fail to see the difference between 75 and 80...If you didn't have a speedo, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. You'd probably think that you were speeding. Why, when you do have one does that 5kmh make such a big difference. It's 5kmh, chill the ʞ©$ɟ out you maniac. 5kmh under the speed limit is NOT in any way endangering anyone. YOU on the other hand, driving like a ʞ©$ɟing idiot because someone is doing 5kmh under, IS. Don't be an impatient idiot.

As said previously.

If people are going 75km in an 80kmh zone people usually follow too closely, higher chance for something to go wrong.

I'd rather speed up (few kms over limit) pass these slow pokes. And continue safely into the distance.

How is that safer???

Don't you think there may be a reason that they are going slower. With your logic, it would be reasonable to pass me if I had slowed down due to road or weather conditions.

If we are talking an 80 zone then I'm assuming that it is either a built up area or road works. In a built up area there are just too many potential risks to go past someone for a pissy 5km/h . It can be frustrating yes, but if a couple of minutes on your driving time is so critical then leave earlier.

If you are far enough back from them, you will be able to react to what ever happens in front of you. Remember, that you are taught to be a minimum of 3 seconds behind the car in front so you can react.

The key word here is potentially. I does not matter if a fatal or life threatening injury occurs, the potential is there. An example of this is the main street in town. Postred limit is 40km/h and there are a number of pedestian crossings. Drivers still go through at 60km/h plus. A two tonne 4wd hitting a kid at 60 km/h is gonna make a mess. It hasn't happened (yet) but the potential is there. People have been hit. I have also witnessed people pasing others on this stretch!!!!

Shit I nearly got hit one night by a Merc driver doing at least 80 km/h. Out of habit, I looked right, saw him and stepped back. Potentially I wouldn't be here to write this if I just stepped out on the marked pedestrian crossing, or if my timing was a second or so out.

Okay. Enough. It's obvious that this is going to go nowhere, and all that's going to happen is a shitfight of fairly major proportions. I have better things to do than sort that out currently.

Therefore I am going to respectfully request a change of topic.

If anyone tries to claim the last word, they will incur Moderator and Administrative displeasure.
