Women in their 30/40s driving 4x4s in inner city carparks; yes, if I choose to be anally raped by paying $27 to park in the Myer Centre, I WANT to take 30 min following one of these women to get to my early bird parking spot. They probably never drive them off road and it's mainly for bragging rights when they take their 1.75 children to football / ballet / drama / swimming classes. They drive SO slowly and no matter how many times they enter the same carpark, they always think they're going to hit the roof.

Gen Y girls. Most of them. They annoy me.

People, usually Gen Y girls, who talk on mobiles at the top of their lungs while you're at a music festival trying to hear a band you've paid $120 to see. Case in point: Tool at the BDO one year. Girl standing beside me for 20 min talking on the phone to her mate: "Hey mate, I'm at the BDO. What band is on? Hey mate, what band's this? Tool? Oh yeah, Tool. Mate, Tool's on. Where are ya mate? Oh mate, that's f@$kin' hilarious!"...etc etc ad infinitum ad nauseum we don't want to hear your ph conversation you silly twit.

People who run into my Corolla because they're too busy chatting on mobiles or not looking where they're driving. Have yet to be at fault for an accident (knock on wood) and yet, each day, I have to honk my horn every time I'm on the road or some dickhead would drive straight into me.

People who drive down one way roads the wrong way or down the wrong side of the road and expect you to move.

People in marketing and comms who think that the show Hollow Men shows the way they should behave and speak in the workplace. It's a spoof, people.

The fact that I have to pay $80 to find a bikini top that fits because everything is made for flat-chested wonders.

Hmm. Am sure there's more that irritates me, because quite a lot does lately. I'll put it down to getting old and cranky at society :D

I know you are talking about young drivers, but I am simply stating that there are a lot of bad drivers on the road who do not have their P-plates and you get no warning.

I don't fight the road rules, as much as I didn't like a select few, I stuck to all of them.

I'll just give you an example of why this P-plate thing bugged me so much:

When this new rule came in about not being able to display those suctiony P-plates on your window, I left them on, but also displayed ones on the outside. When my boyfriend went to drive (fully licensed)he took off the outside ones but left the inside ones on, he got pulled over about a block from home. They got all disappointed when they realised he was fully licensed and told him to take them off, which means these P-plates are fully visible, or else he wouldn't have gotten pulled over.

Another example:

A friend of ours was driving to Tamworth on his Green P's. He had the window ones on. A cop cut off a truck in peak hour traffic to do a u-turn and speed to catch up with our mate to pull him over. He was doing nothing wrong.

And for your information, I am fully licensed, I had not lost one point, been in one single accident or been given a simple parking ticket. I have passed all of my tests first go: L's, Red P's test, Green P's Test, Full License test, Plus Motorbike L's and P's, which I got a full license for even before I was fully licensed in a car. I don't scrape gutters and stall on hills and can do perfect reverse parallel parks. So don't start.

The only reason why it's "fight the power" as you put it, is we have people, such as you, who did not have to go through all this bullshit, and think they are really great driver's say that this is the best thing. How on earth do you know? You didn't have to do shit compared to us, and you see, the really bad driver's of your age and older got through and are still bad drivers, still have bad habits and are still causing near accidents, just like bad P-plate drivers.

Trust me, I know that this is "for the best" and "no, really, it will help curb the youth road toll" not! All I'm saying is I think they could have put better more practical measures in place that would produce better results. I know there are alot of bad P-plater's on the road, but there are also alot of cautious good ones who don't really like driving much as they'd much prefer to stay out of accidents because they don't trust other drivers. My friend is one of them. She only drives when she needs to, she never speeds, never does anything stupid and abides by the road rules. Half the problem is that some RTA officers are too soft. I was really pissed to learn that one person I know through a friend passed their P's after hitting a kerb and 'bumping' the car behind!! I go picked on for not being exactly straight beside a trailer before commencing a reverse parallel behind it!

I think the government could have thought of a much better way to deal with the issue, like practical driver training, I do agree with upping the hours on L's though.

As I'm sure I've said before, I think everyone should have to do a driving test every 5 years or whenever they renew the licence. And there needs to be an across the board, this passes this fails thing. Oh, and more education about motorbikes, I don't know how many times I've had a near miss because people just don't look!

I guess at the end of the day you can complain about unfair stuff all day when it comes to sharing the streets. I too too agree that driver training needs to be carried out in more depth, I think that's the key to slowing the road toll. I think that you also need to realise there are people around about the age of my parents that never really had a test or anything to get a license. In the old days if you made it to the Police station in a car, you seemed like a good enough driver. Bear this in mind next time you are driving near an elderly person.

I get as frustrated as the next person with the Police State we have on our roads. Unfortunately no matter how many times you get pulled over, unless you can take something through the courts and have a go at beating the law or the ticket, theres really no point telling anybody about it. I had my share of pullovers by police as a young driver.

As for your claims of driving perfection, I'm sure you can drive. That's not exactly why you have accidents though. I think you failed to see my tongue in cheek way to say that there are a whole lot of inexperienced young drivers out there, who simply lack practice and the judgment that comes with some experience, and as such might appreciate not being harassed by people who wonder why the hell they are driving so poorly. The only reason why this could upset you is if you truly believed you are a good enough driver to not need to follow the rules. I fail to see it.

At the end of the day I can infer from your post that you, indeed, are not a P plater at all and as such are here whinging about other peoples problems. So what have you got to complain about?

My dads been cut-off by cops a couple of times so he toddled off to the local cop shop and asked if he t-boned them are they at fault. The answer "If the lights are on your at fault...."

That I used to be on my p's and no one listened, so I figured that my invisibility cloak has disappeared since I got my full licensed, and I like to complain!

Plus they rarely have anyone on their side, so LOOK AT ME!! I'm on some of your side's (If you can drive properly and don't chuck burnouts every 5 seconds!)

:D
