Thats good news about the weight :|

I take it the battery holder is for an electric winch?

Because of the GVM I need a breakaway system the battery on the trailer that will hold the brakes on for 15 min. and may also later on be used to power a winch.

last night I Painted 75mm strip on the back white as required then fitted some reflectors.

today I took over a weigh bridge. the trailer weighs 810 kg.

810's not bad for a trailer that size. I'd have expected the thick end of a ton.

You'll still know you're pulling it though! :|

That white stripey thing is a Sth Aus requirement?

I found it in the new national standards while i was looking how many reflector's I needed.

14. VISIBIILITY OF TRAY

On every trailer which is 2.2 metres or more in width and which has a body of the tray type there must be displayed by painting or otherwise across the full width of the rearmost portion of the tray a clearly visible white or silver coloured horizontal band having a uniform depth of at least 75mm.

OOW I like, looking good kid. ;)

Thanks everyone, today I got the trailer inspected and registration completed.

I need to find out one thing, there is a breakaway system fitted to the trailer so if disconnected the brakes come on. Do the brake lights need to come on as well as the brakes?

I asked the trailer place that inspected my trailer but he really was out of his depth with even placement of reflectors.

The break away switches are a 2 wire system (the ones i sold were anyway) and do not get connected to the brake lights (altho you have touched on a really interesting topic), The ones we had were power in/power out so if you hook the lights up to the wire that goes to the brakes you will have 100% energised brakes as soon as you hit the pedal.

I found out that Red arc breakaway controllers put the lights on, some brands don't.

Interesting a 800kg trailer maybe with 3100kg loaded in the middle of the road at night no lights on, maybe in a 100 km/ph zone. I could fit a diode to stop power feed from the brake light circuit.

i recon u should show every 1 ur next project ;) i can't wait to see this 1 finished!!

I am starting the new project this weekend after a massive shed clean up.
