The one I posted wouldn't have any lag. You could have full boost at idle if you wanted to.

 

They need to run brushless motors. Anyone who's played with rc stuff in recent times will know that brushless is the way to go, you can make 3 times the power of a brushed motor for a given size with 90% efficiency compared to something like 60-70% for a brushed motor.

 

Agreed, brushless technology is the way to go with this type of thing....then Lithium polymer/LiFE Batteries for powering the bastards and you wouldnt have ANY problems. Except maybe the Lipo becoming a massive hand grenade in an accident. BOOM!

yeh lipo car batteries would be awesome but the fires they cause are scary

read a few things on these elec superchargers and it all seems to be ok if you have a spare 3 batteries in your back seat to power it for a minute

the only 2 benefits of this is you can put it wherever you want and also you can run up to 8 psi wherever in the rev range you want.

ive found something thats probably more useful than the electric SC...

hahaha this thread is a classic. I have heard about one of the real electric superchargers and it had 2 motors instead of 3 like the one in the pic. it had to have atleast 3 heavy duty batteries in the boot fed by some obscene sized cables to make it work. All this and it was only good for 20 seconds at a time and it cost a small fortune, no thanks.

the only other thing you could get mate is what i think they call an E charger. works similar way to a turbo, but it bolts on just behind your filter. not sure of the power increase, but according to the info its equivalent to 3 psi boost. this one here> http://turborevs.org.uk/vmchk/engine-tunin...percharger.html isnt the exact one i had seen before, but works on the same principles. a pretty cheap option too

Fail. That's the biggest waste of 100 pounds + shipping ever.

 

It's an axial fan; they're useful for high flow but low pressure differential. In short, its not going to give you anything more than enough wind to blow out your birthday candles.

 

Oh yeah - the more flow you're making, the less boost you get too! It might be capable of flowing 250cfm (which is probably a lie) but at 10 Pascals!

haha here's a curve for an axial fan from a well known, quality manufacturer. Not some dirty pressed metal piece of snot.

 

This is a high performance unit. 24 or 48 volts to power it, about 120mm diameter. 8400 rev fan.

 

Curve #5 is the right one, oh yeh 250cfm at less than 50Pa.

 

Awesome.

 

a 5K at 7500rpm with 95%VE will draw 190cfm, we could then get ~280Pa pressure at that flow which would come to...... 0.03psi.

 

Full sick.
