Got a few k series timing chain covers kicking around the shed.

I know the bolt sizes and lengths are different between different K series.

But what is that breather pipe for on some of them and where is it supposed to connect up too ?

its connected to a valve (of some sort) then another line comes from the air filter housing, nfi? another breather?

I've only ever seen it on specific type of 3k. One I had with it was from an auto 3k KE30.

It was raining outside and cold in the shed.

I guessed I could wing it without pix's but been caught out again.

ive seen one on a 1975 ke35 3k 2 speed toyoglide, send a msg to "blktoy" and ask for some pics of it in his engine bay

3K-H

A - goes to the fuel tank evaporation hose, bit like the charcoal box.

B - goes to the top section of the aircleaner box. The cover.

C - goes to the timing chain cover.

my ke35 3k-h has this set up as pictured above.....some kind of breather as evan g mentioned....

My 3k-h had this as well. when replaced with a 5k, which didnt have that hose fitting on the timing cover, the hose was super glued onto the back of the timing cover. Didnt seem to effect the operation of anything so you could say it does two fiths of f@$k all.

The 3K in my KE25 had the same timing cover, just plugged up, none of the other piping.

Less pressure in the block generally means more ability to make power.

Run the crankcase under negative pressure (vacuum) like some of the V8 boys do.

usually involves a fairly expensive vacuum pump setup though. For not a huge gain.
