Don't want to seem like a dick or anything, But why is an $8000 gearbox needed in a Ke70 that weighs bugger all? Surely the stock LS gearbox would be more the strong enough, Unless you're planning to have no mechanical sympathy in terms of clutch dumps etc?

because you can't flat change a stock ls gearbox... its a jerico dogbox with shiftcut and you hold the pedal flat and change gear as fast as you can move your hand.. worth 2 sec a lap

Personally i've never had any issue's changing gears, and i'm pretty sure your gearbox will cost more than my entire car but, props anyway if you're going all out

LOL, you pay for something that won't munch itself with the torque output of the engine but in saying that, the 33 ate the old dog box that was in it.

^ There's lots of cars that run turbo LS motors with a stock box and handle it fine

I know of a VE R8 turbo. Has gone through like 5 gearboxes. Apparently they're fine on the stock motor but once you start upping the power, they're garbage. Apparently.

You've got to think though, a lot of driveline stress is relative to weight and punishment, Dropping 1 tonne from a VE is a lot less stress and there's a massive difference in stress running say 15x8's compared to 20x12's or whatever, and once again mechanical sympathy. Not saying the gearbox isn't needed it's up to you really but for $8k on a box alone i was thinking there'd have to be a very good reason, and that reason was what i was curious about

Why is everyone constantly hating on this build? LOL

Sure you can run a stock box, but why use a clutch to change gears when all it does is cost you time and increase the chance of driver error? Also this box through racing conditions in the Ksev should last forever!

it was one just on the shelf.. and a stock box would be fine but i want to go fast and a dogbox saving massive time on gearchanges why would i go t56.. not to mention there is no room for headers with the stock box and starter location with this setup the starter comes in from the back and the clutch and flywheel is 5.5" round!! super low enertia and makes you go faster without trying :)
