Just wondering If anyone knows how much it would cost to get 4age fully forged. Want to see what you guys know, going to try find a place in penrith, probably check out race solutions later this week to see.

But yeh if anyone can help just an estimate, was going to lower the compression and get turbo fitted but engine would last long at all

Fully forged?

Pistons- Roughly $700 (arias), depending on brand ,whatever oversize you fancy.

Crank- ARD Balanced/knifedged $900.

Con rods- $800ish forged shotpeened.

Really depends on who you know. Have a squiz on ebay and other sites. Do a bit of research. You can pick up combos of Ross, Arias etc pistons and Spool Rods for about $1000 made especially for 4age/gze. And any other performance part you could wish for. Decomp plates, valve springs, cams etc. Good luck.

Forged head sorry..was thinking of gze instead but wouldn't know what condition it maybe in. Ive been looking on tweakit.net for parts and spool rods they have. But il look around at the other sites for any deals or distributors. And il do more research into it

forged rebuild kit,

personally id go aftermarket ecu as-well also you may aswell upgrade your fuel system intake/exhaust, head porting etc etc

all in all itll cost in excess of roughly 3000-4000 and thats just parts assuming you do the work yourself but even then your gonna need a shop to balance and tune it, do some research man plenty of shit online

A forged head?? No such thing mate.

Aawwww.... but I wants me a fully forged cylinder head RIGHT NOW!!! :P

Spool rods are good value for money, GZE pistons are (semi?) forged rather than cast & have ceramic coated crowns from the factory so are a good substitute if Arias etc are too pricey.

Shop around before outlaying cash! Google, eBay, your local parts store, whatever...don't be afraid to find out& compare prices. You may not save thousands, but you might save enough to get some piston rings or bearings as well & stay inside how much you budgeted. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Technically the heads are forged, otherwise there just a big hunk of alloy/cast/steel

That doesn't make sense. Forging involves lots and lots of pressure (usually with heat and a massive BFFO drop press) which forces the grains of the metal to flow with the shape of the piece, which is good for components which have to be strong but are also usually compact and relatively simple in geometry (like pistons and conrods). Heads and blocks are cast with small amounts of machining done at the end to put in threads, clean up faces/seals etc - there is no way in hell you could forge the hollow water/oil galleries or valve seats.
