And the results are in: 87kW at the wheels!!! It was at 70kW once all four cylinders were working, and after a tune it got to 87kW! I'm stoked!!! Lola is freakin' awesome to drive. The acceleration blows me away, but the brakes are still shit. I'm going to try and get a new master cylinder & reservoir installed on Saturday. Here's some treats for you all:

Here's the dyno chart. :)

And here's something I filmed while testing the Corolla on our private and perfectly legal test track (you will need Quicktime to play this):

Nice Drive (2:38mins)

And here's some sound for you - you will also need Quicktime for this one:

Who Needs Webers?

Gosh I love my car again. :P 8/ :P

BTW, for some reason the sound doesn't come through on the video (when on PhotoBucket anyway). I didn't wait for it all to be loaded before I hit play, so try just being patient and waiting for it to finish loading and buffering before you watch it.

87kW at the wheels is with a 4.3:1 welded diff from an auto KE55.

As for lap times, I'm hoping to knock 2-3 seconds off, although my brakes are shite as the reservoir is cracked, and I don't have time to replace it before racing tomorrow. Over the Christmas break the RX7 calipers will be installed, and I will get the rear end lowered, so next year should prove interesting.

Unfortunately my mate with the LC/LJ Torana probably won't make it as after a Herculean effort to get the new motor in the car (they were up all hours last night) they hit the sump on the crossmember as they were lowering it in. I don't know if it's the sump or the cross member that got damaged, but I feel really sorry for him. It's a real pity he buggered his other motor the other week, as the Corolla would finally have out dragged him up the straight. :) He does 1min34sec lap times, versus my best of 1min39.5, so I'm thinking the mods I've done should close that gap significantly with any luck.

Anyway, I'm off to bed. I should have photos and times available tomorrow, although sometimes we have to wait a couple of days to get lap times.

Well, after racing today, I'm EXTREMELY happy! I did better than I could have hoped, and instead of taking 2-3 seconds off my lap time, I took almost five seconds off!!! I did a best of 1min 34.94sec on lap two of race two. In lap two of race three I did a 1min 35.09sec, but I had engine issues as I came down the straight at the end of the lap (while holding out an RB25-DET powered R32), so I think I probably would have pipped that previous best again.

The lowered progressive rate springs on the front, along with the Whiteline front swaybar and rose-jointed lower control arms made the car corner WAY better, with a fair bit less bodyroll through the corners. The power out of the corners was awesome with the engine running right.

Unfortunately I did have some small issues during the day, with an intercooler pipe coming off twice, the second time causing the engine to act like it had a wide open throttle (eek!!!). Also, after we fixed this and I went in the third and final race of the day, I had problems during my third lap, and I think it might have been a dodgy connector on one of my coils coming loose. I will be changing coils (and connectors) over the Christmas break, so this shouldn't be an issue next year. The following is what I plan on getting done over the break to help improve my times next year:

RX7 calipers, Peugeot discs, Pajero master cylinder

Roll/flare my front guards (driver's side tyre rubs the arch)

Lower the rear

Fit all the remaining bushes I have to fit

Make a better intercooler mount (flexes too much causing piping issues)

With these mods I'll probably only knock about another second or so off my times, but that's all good. Also, when we get the engine running just right every time (or close enough), I'll do the ABV mod, which it turns out hasn't been done.

All up I'm VERY happy with my results. It's just a pity that something went wrong with the car on lap three of each race. :)

Yes, I've thought about one. I've thought, no, I won't put a front mount intercooler on until I go turbo. :)

Seriously though, I did consider it, but figured a water-to-air setup would be better if I stick with the supercharger for a naturally-aspirated style throttle response. For now the standard top mount should do the trick, although I'm going to try and convert the window washers into intercooler sprayers for a bit more cooling effect.

Intercooler sprayers :) now you've got me thinking. How would you setup the sprays ?

Would you have them on a on/off switch or have them switch on when you hit a certain speed or rpm?

Well I'm on dirt so wetting the track doesnt apply to me and they wet the track anyway to keep the dust down.

Would sprayes be suitable on dirt tracks ?
