New Ke70 Need Advive

just bought a ke70 5sp for a bargain $200, he says it needs a new carby and booster, the breaks still work just very bad, (have to push all the way in with alot of pressure to work at all), would it be the booster or something else?

also would a boss kit for an ae86 fit?

and would the strut bars from ae86 bolt straight in?

^^Edit: Dave beat me to it.

Sounds like the booster to me. I think you should check the booster out, maybe you could disconnect the booster vacuum line and plug it up so the intake doesn't have a vacuum leak, then see if the brakes get stiffer? Maybe then you will be able to tell if the booster is doing anything at all?

There was a thread on here recently about hard brakes that could have been caused by the use of incorrect brake fluid. Apparently it swells all the rubbers and the pedal becomes stiff. Though I'd say it's unlikely to be your problem.

An AE86 boss kit will fit, but it might not have the same self cancelling indicator system.

Yes strut braces from an AE86 will fit. Or if you are talking about castor rods/strut rods or whatever they are sometimes called. They should also fit.

Does it use brake fluid?

Go over it all. Inspect all 4 wheels for leaks and wear of the pads/shoes. Take the master cyl off and see if fluid is leaking out the back of it into the booster. Check the booster operation by puttng your foot on the brakes and then starting the car. If the booster is working OK it will suck the pedal down further.

If it all looks OK then bleed the whole system. A long pedal travel is usally air in the system, but can be a seal leaking in the master cyl. It could also be a ruptured inner casing in a flexible brake line, so have someone hold the brake lines in their hand whiile you press the pedal & they can feel if it swells.

i still don't get to drive for another year hence it being a project

Well, stripped & straight onto a rotisserie.. The ideal time to get an immaculate rust-free body, perfect suspension and a great little 4K. By the end of the summer you could have it repainted and just like this-

How bad is the car overall? Got pics? Got plans? Paddock basher or road car?
