the reason for that statment is most of us that arnt super mechanics and wont stuff our cars by playing with something we shouldnt in the setup/programing. Priced a Motec lately? Basic computer would be worth more than most of our cars. We are talking cheaper computers here, they arnt smart ECU's. with newer cars ECUs they will use the O2 sensor to keep the A/F ratio correct. low cost ECUs will not self tune IE microtech, wolf, haltech etc. yes Motec, altronic high end units will auto tune. My ET has been running a microtech for maybe 100,000+ km its never been retuned and doesnt need retuning. Some people have said "microtech are only good for flat out" ok they only have a 16x16 res (same as wolf) but i get good economy out of all the microtechs ive installed even with basic tuning. The last computer i was running on my corolla was taken of a ford 460 8 throttle bodies 700+ HP NA engine. It was retuned by me in about 2 hours with a O2 gauge to suit my 4K-E and then retuned for my 2T-GEU getting good power and economy, Now it lives on the 4K-ZE. Microtech will use standard OEM sensors. temp/air temp/TPS etc, its as easy as wire it up and start. All new microtechs are laptop programable The one thing i don't like about microtech is they have to be ordered for the ignition type and need to go back to change the ignition type. WOLF Yes they have lots of options, well turbo timer, they can use the O2 for crusing mixtures, youll need to buy the sensors from wolf and mount them, ignitions setups are all built in to the unit (input signal). But yes i agree the wolf V4 looks good on paper and I'm sure ill try one someday.

Time for me to speak up....Ive installed 15+ microtechs without problem and installed 3 NEW wolfs 2 with faults from factory...even a direct plug in (came from wolf with factory RX7 ECU plug adapter so no wiring required) for a RX7 that wouldnt even start the car plugged in the standard ecu again and it worked, it been back to wolf 3 times with no fault found but wont work in the car. I became a microtech dealer because ive never had a issue the there products. and you get a reply from the tech departmant within 24 hours. More functions in the ECU the more that can go wrong. about the only thing the wolf can do extra that you really use is the turbo timer.WOW All newer microtechs are laptop programable. Ive got pics coming of my rolla now with a Microtech MTX8 running Multicoil setup and 4age 20V CAS and sequential injection...

Ummmm be carefull about knocking the ETs. I have one and it will always be MUCH quicker than my rolla.

Ok, Tassie people, Its our chance to get together. June 12 at Simmons plains raceway where is going to be DRIFTMANIA We could meet up at Bathurst st carpark and head out from there. As you can see it starts at 10am, Lets leave the car park at say no later than 9am. You all know where to find me. http://www.fulllock.com/forms/driftmania/TASentryform.pdf

I think ill start selling radiators on ebay...i paid $90 sell for $170. don't know if i can get too many from my mate...he only lets me have one at cost once a year
-
if i was anywhere else i would use a fan. 3 row brass and copper standard core would weigh 4X heavier, Is cooling to weight ratio is bad compaired to the VP aluminium radiator , a small fan would be heaps on this radiator. I bought mine from a whole sale place, yes it was new, Sorry i can't tell you where i got it from, I can give you one clue, Its a big Australia wide company.
-
hmmmmmm quads on my 2tgeu. I'm looking into it as i type this. I could make a adapter and put the injector bosses in it. Get some extra power and get the intake noise.
-
z|gen....i know the guy that bought it,i got mine from Grimwolge for $200, used it and sold it to my mate for $200 and his mate saw it and wanted one. He bought yours. After he paid i found one on ebay for $200 and one here incomplete for $100.He was so pissed. But thats life. My old one can be seen on the thread "4KZE up and running"

If ya look at the pic (its a KE30), youll have to extend the top hose...the bottom one fits perfect with no modification, The plastic tanks have Fitting pins in the bottom, there is car/metal you can drill for the pins to drop into. The two side top pins (you can see one in the pic) just make 2 small L shaped brackets the bolt to the radiator support panel...easy The opening isnt as big as the radiator, you can make adjustments with a grinder if you feel the need. Here in Tasmania it doesnt get that hot and there isnt that much traffic so i don't use a fan, But i do only drive the car one a week..$20 petrol lasts me about 6 weeks.

Yes the intercooler is coming, this is test stage. hmmmmm crank pulley. well i have used a big belt that uses the standard pulley,But after running i noticed the crank pulley getting very hot and i mean hot, Seems that the belt is slipping on the crank pulley as there isnt enough belt rapped around it. Anyway the belt broke after 2+ hours to thrashing around with all this new power. Did notice the boost dropping over that time as everything was getting hot and i guess the belt was MELTING and when we opened the bonnet the crank pulley was smoking. so we Put on a new belt (the old one was about 10 years old) and WOW 9 psi boost. punching the throttle in 3rd in the wet broke into wheelspin. But that only lasted about 5 kms on the trip back from the servo coz that one broke too. Tomorrow I'm adding another crank pulley and belt to the SC as there is room on the SC pulley for another belt. That will fix it as there will be more contact patch for the second belt as it will only go from crank to SC. But I'm worried that the owner will kill the engine with 9psi boost.

I just used a VP commodore aluminium job. Mine cost me $90 complete (Trade price). Goes in both KE70 and KE30 no problems and I have never used a fan, But a small electric fan would be all you need. Youll just have to make some simple brackets for the side mounts. don't attach anything to the aluminium to body of car as this will corrode the core and use coolant.

thought you all would like to see my mates car that I have just finished puting EFI and SC12 supercharger on Running 5-6 PSI boost goes ok, we still have lots of improvments to do. Like a air cleaner :P the EFI is using a Microtech DIGI ECU, so tuning is easy. So for the people asking the question, YES it can be done and its easy.
-
Yep Next weekend. i sold all my gear to a mate ,I just finished putting on the 4KE injection and microtech ECU, and the supercharger will go on this weekend. Ill update you and maybe a pic or 2
-
Stop mucking around...just get the 1GGTE complete and put that in.
-
yeah get the supercharger. nice thing about that is no need to make manifolds,no oil lines,no water lines,no exhaust modifications but a set of extractors and a 2" systen will be fine. stick it on the driverside (youll have to fit it upsidedown, youll understand why when you do it) of the engine, stick on a side draft webber on the inlet side, run the shortest pipe you can to the standard inlet manifold removing the carby bolt to where it was, find a aircon or make something for the crank shaft pully for the extra belt and a VN-VP ilder wheel (tightens the fan belt by applying pressure on it, your using a vn-vp coz they run flat belt so you can use it on the top side of the fan belt) if ya get one with a electric clutch wire it to a positive ignition on. thats it....go BOOSTIN

This is a question that has been ask thousands of times.....SEARCH. But yes you can turbo ANYTHING. The real question is "is it worth it". If you are skilled enough go for it, Id rather supercharge it. 4agze sc12 would do the job nice and there is no need to make exhaust manifolds etc. easy as bolt it on(well fab some brackets, air pipes, pully), you can either use draw through or blow through carb setup. You could run 6 psi boost into a standard engine without too much modification, That would give you a nice power gain.

$10 please. Why are you staying with a K motor...push rod. i bet you could do a 2t-geu/3t-gte conversion for that kind of money...ive seen 2t-g going for $400 mark, yeah ok youll need a box aswell but in time doing upgrades on that engine will get you alot more power than a FULLY worked 5K. I'm sure going from a 3k to 5k will need engineering anyway. I'm thinking of going to a 1GGTE in mine now....i need more power :D

The show was great, but some dickhead forgot to take the camera there :D . Victor Bray and his son Ben where in there drag car and burnout commo ute put on a good show. the best car i though was a KE20 with a 4AG-TE with a nice front mount intercooler running high 12's over the quater. I don't know how I did in the show as I left before the finish, But I don't expect to get anything anyway, But i wish i had taken my camera just to take shots of all the people standing around looking at MY car :D oh well there is always next year.

Back from the Tasmanian Nationals. Now the car is fully detailed I tought it was time to take some nice pictures of it again. This is a sample of the 70+ I took, But had to scale them down from 2274x1704 to 640x480 for this post and I can't upload pics that big. I wish I could capture the colour better, today in the sun the purple pearl really showed, Its a magic colour.
-
Just finished repainting the black parts of the car for a car show at the weekend. Now painted in shwarts Black, BMW pearl black, But in sunlight it changes between really dark green/grey/purple. Ill try to get better pics of the colour. These where taken just after finishing buffing. Its been a rush job too only started it Tuesday, so strip off the old paint, bog work (not much little dents in the bonnet), Prime, rub back, colour, colour, clear, clear, clear, clear, dry time, rub back, buff, and finished tonight (Friday) Now i just have to put it back together and detail for show on sunday. and to answer ke30nuts...It is now EFI too. Carbs are a not the way to go.

Turbo 4K setup have been done. But for the cost/power ratio i don't think its worth it. you wont be running side draught carbies on a turbo setup unless you have lots of money to spend, Blow through can be done with a set of webbers etc, but tunning and setup takes alot of work. Id go a small turbo, suck through setup with a 1.75 SU carb, The carby is directly fitted to the inlet of the turbo, the turbo will draw air/fuel through the carb into the turbo and compress it and feed it to the engine, easy way to make a little extra power for a minium cost, You will need to find a turbo witha carbon seal as these can run fuel through them, You cannot run fuel through all turbos. any where from $300-$500 Then there is blow through with a carb, the turbo compresses the air and pushes it through the carb on the manifold to feed the motor, cost more as youll need to mod the carb for boost, higher fuel pressure as youll need to keep fuel pressure ubove the boost level, so 7 psi boost youll need 12+ psi fuel pressure (standard is around 4-6 psi), youll be able to run a intercooler etc with this setup. $400-$600+ Get a 4K-E/7K-E inlet manifold, Aftermarket ECU etc. Fuel injection is the way to go, The torque you make with this will make a huge diffrence without the turbo. Add the turbo and it will make ok power, But it will cost alot more $700-$1000+ it wont last long either way you do it, problem is the excels will still beat you, so youll up the boost and break the engine. find a cheap twin cam engine conversion even a 2t-geu or something. I think youll find all the bits for a 2T-GEU that youll need under $1000. I bought a regoed, complete, going car with the conversion for $900

they where a easy fit, the originals runners bolt to the base of the seat, so i removed them cut the lower part of the runners off from the new seats but left the brackets that hold the back on and the where the plastic side bits screw too. The original runners on the new seats are bolted on the sides, but the base is made from the same thickness steel as the originals, so i just redrilled the holes in the new seat base like the original.Bolted them back in, job done, approx 3 hours work in the end. I'm going to get the rear seat recovered the same soon and put in new black carpet and it will look very modern inside.
-
Look what i bought this weekend $60 for the set of seats, very late model corolla, only took me around 3 hours to fit them $400 for the 15X6.5 with goodyear F1 205x50x15 tires, but they look so small, remember it did have 17" on it, they are back on the pulsar now
-
you would all love mine then,,hahahahah its a 10" well under the legal limit.
-
the sc-14 is quite larger unit all over, it will need a bit of reworking to make it fit...Use the clutch, youll have problems if you don't...EG with the standard setup of the throttle body being before the charger when you back off the air almosts stops flowing and the engine slows down the standard ecu cuts the clutch, but without the clutch the engine will run on untill is uses all the boost left over and put heaps of load on the engine trying to turn a air compressor that can't suck air in all rubber pipes get sucked in too, ive tried this and its not very healthy for pullys, belts, and engines stalling.
