  1. a timing light is the most useful thing in the world if you are too stingy, set your points with a distributor. if you have an elec dizzy, then it's time to start spending money it sounds to me like your timing is WAY too far advanced. you're probably lucky you're not spinning the engine backwards, it doesn't sound like you're too far off it
  2. to the inlet manifold
  3. that blue with those basket wheels looks surprisingly classy. i am a big fan of that :)
  4. some random guy on msn wants me to try tucking 20s under a corolla. suuuuure :)
  5. ethanol = shit for engines. f@$k the environment, if i wanted to save trees i wouldn't drive a car at all i'd be interested in the distilling process and the sulphur content of this fuel normal optimax is still just unleaded with additives, and it mixes crap with other petroleum based products, like oil, or other petrols, so you need to flush your fuel system to use it. and ask any 2 stroke engine users (go karters) or rotary enthusiasts, optimax is a great way to kill your combustion-oil-mixing engine normal optimax has double the minimum sulphur content of ultimate as well. sulphur also = bad optimax has a pretty crap reputation, i think this is just shell trying to bring something new out to compete beacuse bp has the best product. their fuel is the most expensive and they don't have stupid 4c fuel vouchers, i wouldn't change from ultimate ever, and i know alot of car enthusiasts who think the same
  6. i've seen one of these cars modified, at broadwater carpark the guy had modified the stock 2S engine with a cam and headwork and exhaust, and just lowered it neatly on centerline wheels with dark tints. it looked really clean most people just drop in a 3sge or 3sgte from an importers. or a 1ggte or a 1jz. you see these pop up in magazines every now and then as a really good sleeper
  7. hi cam means nothing. it was a marketing ploy because other manufacturers were bringing out ohc and twincam models, and toyota were lagging behind "quick, we'd better advertise the fact that our cars have cams too!"
  8. i know this guy in canberra, he's got a ke30 with white rims, on bump stops hey, you should see it. his other corolla has a supercharged v8 in it and he's got huge wheels on it, like 20s or something :)
  9. haha, that would be like a death wagon. that's actually a pretty good idea :) nikki (who owned the rollie ke30) was doing a similar thing with a ke36 wagon with the back doors welded up and the back seats plated over. stick in a coffin sub box and call the car "the undertaker" :P nice idea with the steering wheel xf alternators require a corolla front housing and longer stator bolts, and a few washers on the 4k block mount. if you're going over 6000rpm, underdrive it with a sigma pulley
  10. you're like my best mate and his wrx. man i have heard some tall stories about that car, and people talking like they know him so well. i'm the one who's actually worked on it and knows his family, not them! lol well, driving a defect is always a worry, especially when you put bigass stickers down the side of it. if the risk is too great, you've always got all that other suspension in the shed :)
  11. wow. you'd never even tell hey :)
  12. exactly the purpose of an oil air separator. to separate the oil from the air, and feed the air back to the engine
  13. welcome to being regognised :D
  14. you mean it sits there going "ting... ting... ... ting ting... ting"? that's the hot metal parts in the engine bay cooling down. don't worry about it
  15. metho is $2.50 for 1L, orange juice is $2 for 2L. that's $1.50/L you can still get a 5L cask of goon for $4 i'd rather drink the metho and OJ, at least it's half classy :D
  16. holy crap, that's one munted corolla! good to see the cage did its job nicely please re-shell it :D
  17. it's designed to :D but i'm sure you know how a pcv valve works i am of the opinion that a catch can is pretty useless unless you plumb it back to manifold vacuum, i wouldn't just make an atmo-vented can on anything except a dedicated racecar, or at least something that gets its oil changed every 1000km or so you really need extra help to suck the impurities out of the crankcase on a motor that's getting oil changes every 5000km or over, or you just chop the oil out way too fast
  18. holy crap, that's a decent hit! i've done the same, but i always reverse extremely slowly for that exact reason only metal dude, hope to see it overrated again soon. always the way, paint it and something happens so soon afterwards
  19. i enjoy the heat. and i was in byron bay today. skimpy clothes? hell yes! :D
  20. vodafone capped plans are also good. use $50 and you pay $50. use $80 and you pay $79. use $500 and you pay $79. use $510 and you pay $89 not like some other carriers where if you go over your cap, you pay the WHOLE THING
  21. you are soft if you don't put a 3sgte in it solid mounted so it twists the chassis
  22. i've never been a fan of overly-large-stickered cars unless they're actually sponsored by whoever's on the sticker, there are lots of stickers, and the car actually competes in real motorsport, but that's just my personal preference. if you like how it looks, then go for it
  23. i agree with the others. i love these cars, but they just aren't worth getting into that much debt for. maybe if it was something rare like a 15 or 25, even a 10, it would be worth a thought do it as you can afford it, on the cheap, yourself. that's what corollas are all about :D
  24. you have to have door trims just about everywhere. even unregistered racecars usually have to have them in scroutineering
  25. i've had mates who've racked up over $1500 in a month
