  1. not surprising, consdiering toyota have owned daihatsu since 1972 a paseo uses a 5e-fe motor, 1500 but otherwise pretty similar to a 1300 4e from a starlet. it's the "big block" starlet engine and i've played around with a 4e-fte, apart from the fact you can't get rwd gearboxes or bellhousings for them, nobody makes spigot bearings to suit, and nothing bolts across to a K motor either
  2. you'd need to use a stock block, with whatever head you want. this means a 3t-c block with a 2t-g or 3t-geu head or whatever i don't see how the shape or model of the car matters, it's the same chassis. if i'm not mistaken, fook can put a 2t into his ke35 and it's still rally legal, even though the car is not a te37
  3. it's not really a good price. one went at a wreckers around here a little while ago. 3t-gte, running motor with turbo, computer, loom and gearbox for 1200
  4. you can get dual contact LED brake lights
  5. you could make a milk ad :)
  6. was talking to friends down here, maybe sunday arvo after ATD, then we'd get to see the fueller finals... dunno, it's all too hard
  7. i never replaced any bulbs in that car, except a couple in the dash which i just got out of a spare dash cluster of similar age, so maybe they just are old to use LED flashers you need a different flasher unit, i've tried LED bulbs in my car too and they click once and stay on. someone told me which one to use once (something about honda civic) but i've forgotten nick at joyride autocare in alstonville was the one who told me, i think the business is still going, 02 6628 6468
  8. or you might get erect and setup a webcam for the rest of us. oh dear it's time to let that one slide and post another random pic :)
  9. nick and i share the cock :)
  10. agreed :) even two thirds of that is lots of fun
  11. "but phillip, we're... not gay." "we're not!?"
  12. actually, if there's a crossflow carby 1300, it wins. i think a bike motor might also be more ready to take that title :)
  13. i have my hillclimb videos if you need driving lessons. i can teach you how changing from 3rd to 2nd whilst on the grip limit of the tyres makes you snap oversteer and spin :)
  14. well, spax make coilovers for HQs. HQs use the same monroe part number for rear shocks as ke3x/5x non-wagon. and spax make coilovers to suit the back end of HQ holdens which have converted to coils. you'd probably have to cut and enlarge the suspension tower to fit the spring, but it's one of the harder parts that is now bolt in :)
  15. 2e engines are actually something to stay away from. anything goes wrong with them, you either buy a spare car (these cars are rare as hen's teeth in wreckers) or if you need new things, they come ex japan
  16. ahh tom jones. baby take off your shirt... da dada da da, you can leave your hat on! :)
  17. lance lovepump :)
  18. emissions moreso i think. a smallport 3k-h with just a fast idle valve and pcv made 73bhp. a smallport 4k-c with all the emissions spaghetti and exhaust gas recirculation made 60bhp on the same scale. realistically, you'd probably be lucky to coax 40hp at the treads out of either of them if you take off all the emissions crap and vac secondary, the 4k-c carb actually has larger secondaries than the 3k carb, and hence more potential for flow and power either way, it's just comparing crappy engines with a 40 yearold design. i've driven a car with a stock 3k, stock 4k, mild 4k and now my fairly decent 4k. they're all nothing to write home about in stock form, but are quite alot of fun in the lighter shells, if you have the suspension and traction to go with it
  19. you don't have much money to spare, but you'd rather buy a bodykit than some sort of performance or handling based item that would genuinely improve your car? here's a great site for you with heaps of like minded people http://forums.toymods.org.au/ we're interested in real modification of cars here at rollaclub
  20. ep71. front wheel drive, 2E engine, all of them are imports, they were never released in australia. mate of mine in town owns one, ex autosalon car, carbon fibre dash, big ricey intercooler, aussie starlet 4efte engine. go kart like handling
  21. sorted :)
  22. i doubt it, from memory they are quite different. you could look up part numbers for both and see if they're the same item?
  23. and it is a 3k. look at the manifold side ribs and welsch plugs around the distributor, unmistakably a 3k. besides which, 2t and 4age have different valve cover and bolt arrangement
