I recently helped out member 'Banshee' with a ke1x water pump. Might pay to PM him and ask what was the end result, but IIRC you can swap a '30/'55/'70 etc type pump onto it as long as you use the matching pulley - As the crank pulley is always in the same spot on all K's.
So yeah use a long nose pump with a shallow pulley, or shorter nose pump with the deeper pulley. PCD's on the pumps also change so this is another reason to use the appropiate pulley. :wink:
FYI though - We were trying to get his car going for a cruise that weekend, which we did. BUT the '55 fan (IIRC) he was using was very close to the radiator. Half way through the cruise he pulley out of a street, engine moved just slightly pushing the fan into the rad which ate its way into it and dropped all its fluid. So double checking this gap would be well worth while.
