  1. hehe, reminds me of the last time I took the rolla up ben lomand (tassie ski field), had the weldy in then too, was SOOOO easy to hold it from 1 corner to the next! :faq:
  2. turbos are a good way to warm your 4k up too!! :P except they love the cold too!! other night went out for a bit of a run, gate pressure was peaking about 9psi and running about 7, on the switch I was spiking 12psi and running 10-11!!! :D noticed it was detonating a little on 11psi, gotta love those death rattles :faq: I can't smoke a whole ciggy on the way to work, espeacially early in the morning, let alone have the van get up to temp! :(

hit and run is a criminal offence. therefor if you can find the guy who hit you, and have him charged, its then very easy to sue him for damages. f@$ked up thing about our justice system is that he can legally pay 5 cents a week to re-pay it, as long as he makes regular payments!!!! finding them is the first bit though!!! then you gotta prove it!!!!

not looking good then sorry to hear dude. the car was obviously stolen, the plates were off another car, so tracking the owner isn't going to get you anywere. thats why it was being driven with no regard for the road laws or other road users and why they did a runner. they obviously weren't going to hang around and wait for the police in a stolen car!!!!!!!! your best bet is going to be trying to find out some more info from the people who saw it driving round befor the crash, espeacially the people who were talking to the driver> did they know him!!!!!!!! if so, they might not want to rat out a friend, but if they mix in the same sort of circles if you offer them some sort of "finanial incouragement" they might roll over pretty quick!!!
  7. don't chuck em yet dan, I do need them, just gotta spend my funds on "other things" at the mo, but yeah I do want them!!
  8. haha, nah thats not me know the guy who owns it though, that car has a broken axle at the moment so it'll light up one wheel easy in 4th, what did he come past you at like 100+kph alight!?? :monkey: its got basically the same engine as mine, weber fed 13b bridge port. Mines a '73 white 4 door with the early flat nose. if you're ever really serious about rotorising your car, I can help you out sourcing a good engine and pats and putting it in your car for the love of the brap!!!! :)
  9. an easy way to lower a leaf sprung car at no cost:........ remove whole leaf pack from car. clamp centre of the leaf pack in a vise. while being held fermly by the vise undo the bolt through the centre of the leaf pack. slowly loosen vise. take the small leaf off the bottom of the leaf pack. turn it upside down and put it back on THE TOP of the leaf pack. return to the vise, clamp again, put bolt back in and remove from vise. you will the notice that the leaf pack is a lot flatter than when you started. as the UPSIDE DOWN smallest leaf will effectively give you a flat spot through the centre of the leaf pack. if you have another set of leaves say from a parts car, have a play around, try inverting different size leafs, or adding extras for extra stiffness aswell as lowering. :) as for the front, if you don't want to be dodgy and get out the ol' angle grinder, go see your local pedders or kings dealers. :monkey:
  10. haha, strap a stubby to it next time you go out!!! :monkey:
  11. Just wondering if anybody would know what would need to be done to put a 5k head on my 4k?? or would it basically bolt straight on?? I also assuming as I have a flat top piston 4k, I would need to use a flat top piston 5k head!
  12. go see scotty down at speedies, he could hook you up with a set of low or super low kings springs. provided they are availabe for the 20. :P
  13. ......they're japanese!!
  14. hey Q, don't suppose you guys have had the chance to grab that auto shifter assembly yet??
  15. corona box's are quite common and tuff, but for say a pretty standard 13b or 12a just use a rx7 series 1,2,3 box. cheap and bolt straight on. or for a bit more power handling a series 4 or 5 13b turbo box. as for diffs, early hilux's are the choice for most old school rotary mazdas as they are very close in width and its not hard at all to use discs and lsd's from later hilux's. the whole later hilux diffs are not really suitable for them as they are. all thats really require to put one of the early hilux diffs in a mazda (and would be the same for the corolla is cuuting off the leaf hangers and welding on the mazda ones in the right position. :(
  16. hehe, 13b bridgy + 48mm IDA + locked dizzy + no vac advance + 10,000 rpm = BIG FLAMES!!! :( oh yeah.......post butterfly as love_ke70 said.
  17. the sight you're probably thinking of is jascoautomotive.com the car you're thinking of is this, which isn't a 12a turbs but a ported NA motor. mmmm rs5's!! thats what my rx4 will be wearing in about 2 weeks!:( the conversion would be much the same as that of putting a rotary engine in one of the "sister cars", ie, 808/929/capella/121 etc. the engine mounts for most rotaries are off the front of the engine rather than the sides like piston motors (13b turbo motors are the exception to this rule, as they have side engine mounts) You can see the front mount in that last pic. this is done usually by using an rx4 cross member that bolts into the front sway bar mounts on the mazdas as the cars listed above also came out with rotaries being an "RX". you would also then need a gearbox suitable for the rotor, ie, an rx7 series 1,2,3 box would be fine, and then modify a GB cross memeber to suit the rolla, and the tail shaft would need modifying. next you will need a new radiator again s1,2,3 rx7 1 would do the trick (I actually have one of these, with oil cooler kicking around at home!! :D ) and all rotors need oil coolers aswell. that would be all the hardest stuff, then you would just have to modify some wiring and the fuel system to suit. you could pick up a standard 12a with carby, dizzy, alt, water pump etc (basically everything) for around $500 - $1000 depending on condition and the retention of the owner arse hole!!
  18. Oh damn was that the sunday just gone!? :D that'd be why I saw SI rego ke20 drive past about lunch time as we were unloading the burnt out seven! I waved!! :y:
  19. don't suppose you got any pics of my current engine setup??
  20. or it could just be as simple as blocked jets! :)
  21. you mean the 10mm that hold the torque converter to the flex plate?? did this the other day and was thinging how the hell to you get a spanner on that well enough to get them out......then realised on the bottom of the backing plate there is a little cover that pops out so you can use a ratchet. did you not find this cover??
  22. sure is, we stripped EVERYTHING that was still any good on saturday night and put it there to be collected by a truck. do you like the sign!? :)
  23. thats what i was on about, tas_corolla is doing manual to auto and your doing auto to maunal, both in ke20's, get in contact with him.
