  1. Hi springersrolla, I actually followed the recommendations you made about increasing castor from an older post I found when looking into it. The only downside, if it can be called that, is my steering is mildly heavier ... " ....buy or borrow a dienut the same as your castor rods, run it down another 2inches at least, buy new castor bushes. refit and line up your castor to the best of your judgement and limp to a wheel alignment shop eg; pedders, tell them you want as much castor as you can get before the tyre scrubs the front of your guard. drive home knowing that the front end is the best it will handle for minimal dollars and then save for coilovers, adjustable strut tops, etc" cheers mate
  2. hi altezzaclub, it really needed a wheel algnment before the lca change so my opinion is probably skewed, but for the winding country roads around here it hasnt felt this good ever. It feels more direct and controlable, yes more responsive but without oversteer, personally very happy I did it, even if it does double my tyre budget.
  3. When I was looking into the GE Sigma LCA (330mm) to ke corolla mod I couldnt find a pic to illustrate what exactly the extra length would achieve in a ke55. Now I've done the mod I thought I'd post a pic, a bit of a visual aid for anyone contemplating going down the same path...
  4. hey gavin thanks for the info, no module is good news ... can't see the pic though mate. Ive got the pdf for the crane box now so that should help. thanks again
  5. gday all. i have a 5k/3k-b engine that i want to run with and an older crane 6600 ignition box and optical pickup dizzy that according to the crane tech guy will work together. My questions are, I have a bosch mec717 coil, do ineed the bim024 module to run it or does the box do it ? also i understand white wire from the dizzy sensor goes to white trigger wire on box, black to body earth, and then instuctions say red wire "12v+ switched" i assume this means to coil+ or should I put in a relay to get 12v+ from battery ? sorry if these are basic questions, cheers anyway ..
  6. so some of may have seen this - wonder what it will sell for ?? ...... thought id share the love a little if you had'nt seen it anyways...... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1978-Toyota-Corolla-KE-30-11800-KM-/320755492564?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item4aae8466d4#ht_500wt_1156
  7. just my 2c worth - olive drab but with a couple coats of clear/pearl, black rims etc etc yeah baby  works for me anyway
  8. i have a passenger seat from a 86 swift (85-88 is the same..?) in the ke55 didnt need any mods - already had the exact holes in the seat base, bolted the rails straight in, measurements are length (front of car to rear) 320mm and 385mm wide, thats going centre bolt hole to centre.... would be interesting to know what fits yours anyways cause i spent a whole day walking the yard measuring up a bolt in seat ....
  9. could you play around with spring/weight sets - would that be relevant on a kit like this ?? i know for example Mallory sell spring kits to recurve their electronic distributers ....
  10. use a bit of imagination I'm sure you can understand what I'm saying .....
  11. so ive seen My link does that mean you could take the old coil and ballast out and replace it all with said distributer ?? has anyone used one of these ?
  12. any of the auto parts places should have one in stock or get one it for you - not expensive either from memory less than $20 anyway
  13. the differnce is that the auto has a torque converter thats bolts up to a flex plate - it doesnt have a flywheel it has a flex plate. The manual has a flywheel, a clutch and pressure plate. - you will also need a spigot bearing as the auto wont have one
  14. you will need a manual flywheel
  15. this one has been up for as long as I can remember - i guess hes probably spent that much on it ...... and I can see the car has potential but..... $10500 and I'm pretty sure it was $11500 to start with - theres a pink coupe as well overrated but stock ... started at 12500!! 8500 or something now ... My link
  16. yeah i was kinda thinking about that when I was replacing the "new" faulty one - why does an integral part of the cooling system only cost me $8.95 - like how much are they made for in china and how reliable is that 82 degree stamp on the housing ...?? so, yes I think i will be testing them from now on.
  17. hey thanks guys - ok so i took the radioator cap off and ran the car for about 15 mins - temp got up to 90 on my digital thermometer - and coolant started to overflow the radiotor a bit so I turned the car off - the thermostat housing was too hot to touch but i coudnt really see any coolant mooving around ... so I took the thermostat out and slowly boiled it up suspeneded in a pot of water and could see that it was only opening (and even then not fully) at boiling point and was fully closed at 82 when it was meant to be openening. I relpaced the thermostat and hey presto - everything seems to operating as it should be :) :)
  18. OK so my old temp gauge on my ke55s hasnt been working at all - i replaced it with a VDO and new sensor etc etc as well as water pump and thermostat. My question is now that I can see everything is working, the VDO shows the car heating up to about 100-110 and then suddenly dropping to 79 and staying stable all within say ten minutes max. I was quite alarmed when I saw the temp climbing so high - so basically, is the new thermostat faulty or is this normal and I'm not used to having an accurate guage ?? any help would be great :) cheers ps my daily driver is a golf and it just goes to 80 and sits there - has never gone higher ....
  19. all time top is (so far) http://youtu.be/qc98u-eGzlc
  20. thats a much better method ! I didnt think you could stretch metal that far with a hammer thanks blzbub -
  21. gday and welcome - how much of a flare are you wanting ? you can roll the seams of your guards which will give your phat wheels more space or if you need a big flare for your super phat wheels its not so easy ie: grinder with cutting disc/welder/ or if your that way inclined fibreglass/bog - heres a link to get you started on the road to discovery http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=264875 have fun !! :)
  22. good to know they fit so easily - just wondering, whats the difference in ride height from ke55 to factory ae86 struts - if both springs where factory height ?? even just a rough idea would be good ... cheers
  23. was that in christchurch ?? my brother is in the army there (hes an engineer) and the army mechanic does crazy engine conversions very cheap - and very well - I was there in late '09 and there is a massive tuner scene - and they love the ke rollas !! my bro was looking at getting a v8 into corolla conversion done by this dude - but then he got a twin turbo rwd legnum sedan and i suppose its off till blows the thing up - ill shoot him off an email and see if hes done any lexus v8's though .... :y:
  24. going to roady the new coupe and getting a fail list bigger than the page gives you space for - going to the another bloke up the road and getting a list for two items .... new wiper blades and a secured spare tire ( thankyou $10 bunno's tie down) next stop prick (vic) roads ......
  25. yeah cheers, I think it might be a case of finding a good product to use and then just religiously applying - I had a look at the amorall stuff and its even safe for natural rubber so it must not have any petro-chemicals in it ...... :)
