Cranks 10 Times Before It Starts Even When Warm?
towe001 replied to Evan G's topic in General Mechanical
How about the timing ? I can't really see it being in the way of fuel running back down to the pump, for the simple reason of that the fuel bowl gets filled from the top and not from the bottom. But yeah on the thing of fuel - if the 18r has a sight glass on the carby, you could always check it before starting the thing and also while its running and see what level the fuel is at in the bowl. If its low it could mean a new pump is needed or just a new filter (do the filter before the pump - its way cheaper). Urm, thats off the top of my head with ideas -
What"s the motor ??

hehehe like it

I wonder if she'd like to move up this way to Toowoomba :jamie:

Velocity stacks is just that..... They help to make the power in a certain rev range - long stacks = low rev power / short stacks = high rev power. But you'll only really get the most from them if their matched with the cam/s as well (not a good idea matching a long stack with a cam that makes the power high in the rev range). But it also comes down to how much room you have as well

From memory the sump is the same as the 4a-f, 4a-fe (apart from the windage tray and hose connection for the oil cooler). So you could use the dip stick from one of those motors. I have one out in the shed somewhere but its cold, windy, dusty, dark and i'm getting hungry. Anzac Wreckers should have at least one you could measure...

Man thats really screwed. I guess in a way its good that there's no work, only in the way of with you being so worn down. I think your 100,000 service is overdue. Make sure they do more then just a tune up and swap the timing belt :P Don't know about asking for the old parts but

What Attracts You To The Rollaclub?
towe001 replied to Rich_Rolla's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
The very first car i was chasing was either a Dato 1600, 180B or a 120Y. And out of the choices the 120Y was the only one i could find and out of that model i had the choice of either a rusted out body but with good motor or a good body but with a crap motor, and i couldn't afford both cars. Mate showed me a ke30 in the paper - Just needed TLC. I blanched at the idea but we had a look and wound up laying a deposit on it that day. All it needed was a tidy up. Found the "Oldcorollas" yahoo user group - joined up. A few on there was posting about the ToyMods forum - joined that. Found out about Rollaclub and haven't looked back. I'm with a few other forums mostly due to having to join up otherwise navigation of said forums comes down to impossible. A few others (Mitsubishi Lancer) i find that just popping in for a look see from time to time relieves the boredom of being there. Like last time i had a look in the technical section of one the last posting from someone was about 2 weeks ago.... Whereas Rollaclub is always moving always evolving some members leave us others join up. Weekends tend to go slow but it never stops. And if it did, like the time it crashed many of us would get withdrawal symptoms. Its like a drug i tell you, i think i spend more time on the forum then what i do on my car. I think i've learnt more about my car looking at the computer screen then what i would have if i spent the same amount of time getting my hands dirty. -
We'll stick our hands up  Just have to figure out where to dump the kids :P Couldn't help but notice on saturday how you was starting to look tired and worn down. Hope they get it all figured out and you make a strong bounce back This "Go Via" Tollway bullshut won't except payment cause i don't have a credit card....

Very possible. I think the easiest thing to do would be while the shaft is out of the car see if it fits up to the g'box. Another thing you might have to look at is length - the w58 g'box might be longer then the g'box in the car already and if it is you'll be looking at having to shorten the shaft as well.
-
Righto here we go Length - 408mm Internal width - 43.5mm but as you can see in the picture - 32mm down the tube is where it narrows down (at a guess about 1mm thick)

I'm stripping down a '55 strut at the moment. Just have to find the calipers.

But have you felt the weight difference between a 4 litre tin of black and a 3 litre tin of white ? The white is still heavier then the black

Let me guess, in town with city lighting. Its fairly easy to do Yep i guess the PC minority has been able to throw Darwin out the window

I'll agree whole heartily with you there Felix. Racing through car parks is just plain stupid, reckless and dangerous. Don't know about you, not condoning the act of doing it, but i'd really really love to swing a shopping trolley in front of one the idiots and see how they react.

Awesome movie. Number two was good but not as good. Milner just unbolted the cover to open up the side pipes. But anywhat, you'd have to redo the carbies if there's a restrictor in the road of the intake. Think of it as a choke. I'd imagine the same thing with the exhaust. More airflow = more fuel to compensate  going to have to bug the other half now and watch the movie

Bloody hope not, we want one

I hear what your saying Trav, but this wanker driver wasn't no kid, from the quick look i got he was more closer to 30 then like the eldest kid on this street of about 12-13. When i was living back up on the sunshine coast a council lady was going around on the cruise nights talking to the people (aka hoons) and asking them questions getting their thoughts and ideas. The majority turned around and told her the only reason why they do it (burn-outs, traffic light drags, racing, etc etc) was cause they had no-where else to go, most of them wanted to get it off the streets. The councilor organized a meeting between the "hoons", the cops and the residents. Only the "hoons" and the cops showed, the "hoons" wanted some where to go, the cops wanted it be legal etc etc. But the whole thing fell flat on its face cause the residents didn't come to the party....

Speechless Johno. The only thing that comes to mind and off my tongue is "Phuck", mother nature had it in for that car port of yours doesn't she. Don't let it be a set back again. Use the tarp to cover the chariot till you can get back on your feet with a car port or something.
