Ke55 Sedan Lowering Urgent Help Please......
counc replied to evilbetty's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I'm going to have to jump on the ban wagon here. Being a qualified mechanic cutting your springs has to be the worst idea that anyone modifying cars can ever consider. There are a few other options that can be followed that are alot safer than chopping springs. The most common ive heard of is taking your springs to a suspension specialist who will compound the spring so that you keep the stuctural intergtiy of the spring in place while still gaining the same effect. This i have heard costs as little as 50 AUSD. A small price to pay for your and other drivers safety. As far as lowering the car 3 inches a good idea would be to check with your local roads authority to make sure this is road legal, as the defect will end up costing more that getting the car lowered in the first place. cheers Peter -
I'm currently in the process of sticking a t50 into my ke11. As long as the car is originaly a manual you should have no problems, its only the auto's that there is a problem that requires modification or a new bellhousing. hope it helps Peter

well like others have said I'm not sure about the regulations in your state and all but in NSW for example with my ke11 (1200 engine) i can go to a 1300 without a engineers cert, but on the same token i go go as high as a 2.2L. As someone has already mentioned its something like a 10-15% increase in engine capacity before and certs are needed. Get in touch with your local road authority's technical information line and they will soon tell you all the info you will need. Cheers Peter

Hi Bec welcome aboard youve proably seen me a few times on the road over the last few week ive followed you down camden valley way and turning onto the northern road in my KE11

heres a suggestion from me and the boys at G & S Diesel Services before you start working on your cars get any run of the mill dishwashing liquid, squirt some onto your hands and rub it in. Allow it to dry and see how your hands are after your finished for the day and wash up. cheers Counc

Ok guys ive started the rebuild on my ke11. Due to my limited budet (saving for a house :P ) ive decided to start on the interior for now. Here are the pics of the new door panels i cut out at work today in my spare time. I still havnt decided what material to re trim in, but due to this car being my daily driver ive just put the panel on bare for now. Starting on the parcel shelf and boot area next, ill post pics as i do them

does anyone know of a web site where u can upload a pic of your car and change the color of it to see how the car would look. I'm sure ive seen something like this in a magazine or something cheers counc
-
yeah the more i think of it the more I'm dissliking it IMO too much on the eyes another idea not long came to mind too, making it a red back spider theme (small but deadly) black paint job red mark on roof like a redbacks abdomen, black interior with red features, could even go as far as a redback air brushed on the bonnet something like this
