  1. My temp gauge seems unaffected by fuel level, it just never seems to get hotter than about 1/3. The fuel gauge however will not work unless you put more than half a tank or so in, but I've gotten used to using the number of ks and the sloshing of the fuel in the tank when going over bumps as an idea of how much is left.
  2. Just filled up the KE55 with Ultimate the other night (she's being babied fuel-wise for a few cycles), she took 42L for just over 510km, for an economy of 8.2L/100km of total city driving (with a lot of pedal-to-the-floor to get up hills), which is comparable to my AE102. Doing a few full fills/empties also helps for gauging how much a tank will can do, as the fuel gauge is stuffed, however in doing so I have come across a new kind of fuel gauge for a KE55........your ears. Due to the tank being directly behind the front seats (and the rear speaker holes are open too I should add), the sound of the fuel sloshing around in the tank is very easy to hear. Go over a big bump and listen to the sloshing will give you a good indication of how much fuel is left in the tank. Works a charm for me
  3. Our temp gauge appears to work fine, it just usually sits about 3mm above the cold line most of the time, only time it's gone even close to a third of the way up was during stop-start city traffic the other day (then again, I haven't driven it in summer yet). I'm not surprised that it runs so cool though, considering the huge-ass cooling fan and tiny engine in big engine bay. Plus the fact that there is so little power in the first place for a lot to be being wasted as heat
  4. Everything appears to be back to normal now, all pictures returned and haven't had any trouble logging in since yesterday
  5. I wasn't able to log in at all yesterday because of this virus warning thingy, obviously I can now but the first thing I noticed is that pictures no longer show up. This includes everyone's avatars, although I've re-posted mine. This is quite a pain when going back and looking at For Sale threads made before Sunday, as pictures are vital for sales
  6. The fuel gauge in our KE55 is stuffed something shocking, has read empty ever since we bought it (in the meantime it has gone through two 20L fills, but both from near empty), until I filled her up fully last week. Then it shot up to 3/4 full, but has since died to now reading fully empty after only doing 200km. Any ideas?
  7. Nuh, use the front end for the barbie and find a way to join the two halves back up with hinges, so to the unsuspecting eye it's just a bomb with most of the interior stripped....thats when you open her up for all to see
  8. Considering the 4AC is a SOHC non-crossflow head, I highly doubt that. Maybe you mean the 4AFC
  9. Well, technically they were RWD as well, but only when mid-mounted (aka in the ZZW30 MR2). Better to say that they were transverse engines only, as opposed to longitudinal (there have been some longitudinal FWD cars, but as far as I know no RWD transverse front-mounted cars)
  10. Working fuel gauge would be a great thing to have. Filled her up today with 98, going to let it run for 200-300km then fill up fully, see how much it takes and then just base a mental fuel gauge off that, until the current one gets fixed
  11. *quotes Red Leader* Allllllmost there.....
  12. Well, to be more accurate it's an Italdesign Nazca C2, built for BMW as the M12, using a 350HP 5L V12, capable of 0-100 in 3.7 seconds, 203mph top speed, so it's hardly weak especially for
  13. sweet chilli crumbed chicken tenderloins, mixed stir fry. Plus the odd White Russian whilst studying I'm having an alcohol-intensive week, although going easy until tomorrow night. Got my last uni exam EVER tomorrow morning, and I plan on celebrating big time
  14. Well, you can always divide it by 3 or 4, but I'm quite surprised that the Silvia or KE are geared for 300km/h......
  15. Scirocco IIs suit the 55s and 70s really well, they're what my missus wants on the 55 when we can muster up the money for them. One of the few cheap and common new wheels that can be easily done in a +20 offset and 4x114.3 (as they are blank faced and so can be custom drilled)
  16. I found a very easy way to test my top speed whilst not breaking any laws. It works for most small and medium non-performance cars riding on stock wheels. Simply divide your redline/cutout RPM in half, then go to that engine speed in top gear. Look at your speedo. Multiply said speedo reading by 2 and voila, you'll have your top speed. I did this in the AE102, and it works perfectly. Redline is 6250, and in 5th gear at 3125 (well, 3100 effectively) I was doing bang on 100km/h. Therefore, my top speed is 200km/h, and effectively tested without speeding or breaking any laws, and without putting the engine or drivetrain under great stress. Although there also was the time where I actually took it to 200km/h (speedo ran out at 200 anyway), and it was bang on redline, so I know it works. This is highly illegal, and I don't approve of it unless you're on a track.
  17. urgghhhh, Edsel *shudders* Well, to be more specific, '58 Edsel Pacer Next one (not that hard to get if you're familiar with the company's other works, but it's a very weird car nonetheless) (and no cheating by looking at the image title, I couldn't be bothered changing it)
  18. Yep, its an FF, you can tell by the larger gap between the front wheel and the leading shutline of the door (standard ones have vents there, but this one has aftermarket grille/mesh). Pioneering because it was the first production all-wheel-drive vehicle (ie not offroad), AND it was the first to have ABS. Unfortunately most people think of the Audi Quattro when people ask what the first AWD production car was
  19. Damnit, knew I left something out...... As an aside, Volvo used the ES as their design template when they created the Safety Car a few years ago, the SCC (Safety Car Concept)
  20. A pioneer in one important way, but overshadowed by a more popular model and receives little recognition for what it inspired
  21. Funny that it made you think of the Stratos, considering the Stratos has a Ferrari V6 in it as opposed to a Lanica V4
  22. It's one of my favourite cars too, although I highly doubt I could actually fit in one. I like it for the uniqueness, especially the small-capacity V4 and rally potential (think smaller than a KE10)
  23. Looks like a Ferrari 250 GT SWB to me, unless I'm missing something bleedingly obvious
  24. Actually, the 4ACs in the FWD series had only SOHC too, I was implying that going from a 4AC to a 4KC you lose the overhead camshaft (because the 4KC is pushrod) So technically, the 4KC has 1 less overhead camshaft than the 4AC (the 4AC has 1, the 4KC has none) As to the KE70 having the updated front, I was not aware of that. Every updated front I've seen has been an AE71, and every non-updated one has been a KE70
