  1. Considering the proliferation of shortening words for SMS-speak, I'm actually highly surprised that "brought" and "bought" aren't shortened to "brort" and "bort"... Then again, if that happened they would have to order more "Bort" license plates... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vihYeWip4g
  2. I didn't buy it for the stiffness :P
  3. Spot the difference...
  4. Twincam.org.au Just be nice and don't ask silly n00bish questions, make sure you do a thorough search of the forums as this has been done lots of times (however a lot of info has been lost in the exodus from Twincam.org after "the American" bought it)
  5. There's no hard-and-fast rule for what size tyre fits (apart from a good 1-2" range) and looks good on a wheel, it depends a lot on the car. Take the beloved-by-many MA61 Supra wheel, 14X7 +8 so it has a decent bit of dish; factory fitment for the MA61 is a 225/60 tyre, and this style looks good under the wide haunches and flared guards of the Supra. Put the same wheels on a KE55 Corolla though, and the tyres look positively balloon-ish - 195 is a much better fitment, with sidewall height to suit (I ran 196/65 for the rally-car look, but that can still be a bit high for some people, and puts the speedo out too) I for one am not a big fan of the whole stretched-tyre scene, especially when taken to the extreme. A little bit here and there, especially if it is on a smaller car to help tuck the tyre under the guard, can be ok though. What I really hate is stretched tyres fitted to small (like 14") wide wheels on cars like MA61s which have flares especially to take fat tyres (the stretch ends up almost being a continuation of the flare), it makes the car look like it is rolling around on castors rather than actual wheels and tyres I've also ran 205 tyres on both a 6.5" (which would be way oversized to some people) and 7" wheel (45/16 for the 6.5", 20/17 for the 7"), with, and to be honest you can't really tell the difference in width of the wheel just by looking at the sidewall, even on such a low profile.
  6. This is what 15x8 +25 look like on an AE92 hatch with 195/50 tyres No mods to fit (although rolling the guards would be a definite plus), but I highly doubt you'd be able to get away with +10 or with much wider tyres (195 is technically too small for an 8" wheel anyway but you can get away with it)
  7. Can't really sum up Rosie in just one word, except "rough" (or bitsa) :P She went like the clappers, but sounded rough as guts. Body was rough, suspension was rough, rust repair was rough. Previous engine conversions were rough. But we loved her nonetheless.
  8. WMMH: Uncle who was/is in the army (was a Major, now a civilian consultant) couldn't make it to our wedding, as (in his words) he was over in Thailand making seriously silly money.....so his wedding present to us was $2k Combined with my bonus next year (should be getting ~$8k before tax), looks like home-loan deposit won't be as far away as we first thought
  9. Soarer had one all the way through to at least 2000 :P
  10. A present arrived in the mail today...I wonder what it might be...
  11. I've got an old one you can have cheap if you want. Leather is a bit ratty in places and one or two of the clips on the horn pad may be broken, but I've got no need for it and it is just collecting dust...
  12. Still one series too old for me :P
  13. The Gillette business model hard at work...
  14. Might want to double-check, you should have a 4AFC, not a 4AC. Can make quite a difference...
  15. The mini-kegs are never cheaper than slabs or post-mix, it is the convenience of being on-tap that makes up the difference (and in the case of beer, taste as well).
  16. Yeah I've had the Heineken ones before (they're usually ~$35 though :P), just seeing if there was any choice apart from bourbon or whiskey (would prefer rum)
  17. Is it just B&C or are there any other options?
  18. He didn't ask people for their opinions on the fender mirrors, he asked if there was anything else out there that will help improve the look. Personally, I think fender mirrors can be hit-and-miss, but if done right can look the part (and Toyota Japan was still putting fender mirrors on base-models well into the '90s, so it isn't like it is anachronistic...) EDIT: For visual reference, here's a factory AE82 with factory fender mirrors, so everyone can stop postulating about how things "might" look.
  19. Actually apart from the InitialD/Takumi connection and the Kanji on the side, the panda looks pretty good in my eyes...
  20. I don't believe any T-engined Corollas were sold here before the TE72. You can get KE25s though....
  21. It wasn't (previous owner)...
  22. Ours had a fair bit in the driver's side rain channel, both repaired and re-occuring...
  23. *sorry, meant "cam angle sensor" (the definition varies depending on which engine you talk about, but they do the same job), on the GZEs it goes in the same place as the distributor would.
  24. The early dizzy 4AGZEs were all bigport, the later bigports and all the smallport ones were DLI/CAS (Distributor-Less Ignition/Crank Angle Sensor). I think you should double-check exactly what you have now before you go start buying things that may be worse than what you already have, or even exactly the same....
