  1. Don't recall the 7AFTE Sportivos having one either, but could be wrong. They were running such piddling boost anyway.
  2. As long as the bottom end receives some treatment, they are VERY responsive to forced induction. I know of someone putting a turbo and possibly supercharged one in their MA61.
  3. 22RE is a 2.4L EFI singlecam R-series engine, 3RZ-FE is a 2.7L EFI slave-cam RZ-series engine (not related to the R series, although it is effectively the replacement).
  4. If you block it (depending on your PCV system) you'll pressurise your cam/rocker cover, which is not good. Or, it'll reverse the PCV system. Either way, it isn't working in the way that it was designed.
  5. The fix is something along the lines of removing the filler pipe and bending a little flap back/forwards, can't remember exactly because I've never had to do it (never owned an AE92).
  6. Mixer perhaps?
  7. How can the car run without the ECU in there? They control both fuel and ignition (some _older_ ones are fuel only), so it is impossible for the car to run without it plugged in.
  8. You said that one of the main reasons you were considering the conversion was so it could possibly be used as a tow vehicle. Hopefully we have since talked you out of that idea.
  9. Because the first ones have a Rover V6 that runs on wishful thinking and mechanics prayers. Whilst they may not cost much, they are _cheap_. The later Hyundai-powered ones are much better engine-wise, but even then they're still crap overall.
  10. I have a white car and I probably wash it every 3 months or so......it gets dirty the very next day (and noticeably dirty too), but I can't be bothered washing it more often. Plus the bonnet is covered in stone chips and the roof and boot with black freckles (road tar maybe?), and the wheels covered in brake dust (the fronts can go from shiny and spotless to uniform grey in a little over a week) so keeping it sparkling clean isn't high on my list of priorities.
  11. Does the fuel gauge read full after you put those 27L in? AE92s are _notorious_ for short-filling, they should have a 50L tank but can often only take 35, there is a problem with the filler pipe that cuts out the bowser pump way too early, the fix was on Twincam.org for ages until JP deleted all his posts.
  12. If the trailer is loaded correctly then there should barely be any weight on the car, VERTICALLY (ie tow-ball load). However, acceleration and braking play a very big role in the way the car can tow. Think about it, going down a steep hill, even with a braked trailer it will be at least 50% heavier than the car towing, which means it will "push" the car significantly. There is a reason why NSW tow regs state that you should always tow with a vehicle heavier than your gross load (which is why Landcruisers etc make great tow vehicles, because they weigh the same as a small planetoid).
  13. And does "nothing to hit" include semi-trailers not expecting drift fools to be on the road?
  14. Hmmm, underneath the T/B......power steering perhaps? Aircon (although that often has a VSV on the firewall so look for un-used vacuum ports on the valve there)
  15. Maybe swap in the head/loom of a 4AFE from a late-model AE92?
  16. Depending on what year AE92 it is, it could be a 4AFE and hence EFI
  17. Ryco website lists the diameters and threads for all their filters Z418 = 89mm height, 77.5mm seam diameter, 71.2mm seal diameter, 3/4-16-UNF-2B thread Z68 = 120mm height, 82mm seam diameter, 70mm seal diameter, 3/4-16-UNF-2B thread Most if not all the filters will have the same thread, but you want to make sure that the seal lines up with the seat on the block - you REALLY don't want to have that seal leak/blow as I once did (although that was because the old seal didn't come off and I didn't notice), the oil slick will rival the Exxon Valdez.
  18. In this case, I agree. If it was the OP's second car or something, then I could understand. Or if it was something _really_ special (like a Lotus or something). But a Commodore with a turbo on it, whilst it is reasonably neat and well done, is nothing amazing to a Corolla car club.
  19. Isn't there also an issue with the engine sitting upright in a RWD format where it sits on a ~30 degree angle in FWD format? There's a fair bit of stuff on this (and 3SGTE RWD convos) on Toymods too, maybe worth a trawl?
  20. Fair bit of work involved in making a 3SGTE in RWD format, have fun........
  21. Out of interest, since the FE heads run a slave-cam system, any adjustments made to the exhaust cam (the one driven by the timing belt) would be carried over to the intake cam too, which isn't always preferrable. But, would it be possible to make the intake slave-cam gear adjustable too? That way you could adjust it relative to the exhaust cam (and therefore independently relative to the crank), and thus effectively make the engine a proper DOHC?
  22. I would have thought a Nissan forum would be the best place to ask how well a particular Nissan engine fits into a particular Nissan chassis and Nissan gearbox....
  23. If it's just the one kid, then I see no reason why I couldn't continue with the AE102 - it has a big boot for it's size, the back seat is reasonably roomy and access is decent. Two baby seats would be a problem, but once they grow up then two boosters wouldn't be an issue at all. Hell, when I was a kid our "family" car was a brand new 1984 KB Laser, and that was an upgrade from a 2-speed KE10 Corolla (me, being the second baby, was the cause of the upgrade/upsize). That took 2 parents and two kids in childs seats/boosters + stuff in the boot to a lot of places, but got sold in '96 and replaced with a Camry, mainly for extra touring ability (SXV10 Camry has close to _the_ biggest boot I have ever seen outside of a station-wagon)
  24. I remember that....much fun was had. Quite surprising how far Telstra/Sensis would go to protect a brand-name, even though trading post is a legitimate non-trademark term (and was around long before the trademark came into effect, so even a genericised trademark claim couldn't apply)
  25. Never released in a Corolla though. Up until the current model (which gets the 2.0L 3ZR in some markets), the only stock 2.0L Corolla engines were diesels, the 2C and 1CD-FTV
