  1. Plus note how the front tyres are noticeably narrower than the rears, a la front-runner drag style, which would highly stupid for a high-powered 4WD set up
  2. Did Kia actually build/assemble (ie they had bought the tooling) the early V6s or were they just delivered in a crate from Rover?
  3. The guy I take my AE102 to ignores the probably too loud exhaust and probably illegal halo headlights, but if you've got a numberplate light out or one of the tyres is down to the wear indicators then prepare to feel his wrath :) Basically, as long as the car is in good mechanical condition, no gaping rust holes, no leaks, brakes work, steering isn't loose and all lights work then it'll pass.
  4. Reliability aside, I'd go for a GTO any day over a RA28 (unless it was a genuine GT, but even then I've seen way too many RA28s so the style is getting old/boring)
  5. Can't see said pr0n, there's a POS 120y in the way...
  6. That's more a problem with a poorly serviced engine rather than a common engine trait. All A-series engines do increase in oil-consumption as they get older (usually either rings or valve-seals wearing), but properly run in, serviced and maintained (5000km oil-changes and a thicker 20-50 or 25W50 oil help too) they will be fine. My 7AFE is the perfect example of that; properly serviced, maintained and regular oil changes and it has seen 320,000km without the head ever being removed.
  7. Will most likely be going, hopefully have the clunking fixed up in the 102 so I can enter it in the drags and the khana. Personally I don't recommend this at all. The organisers of Nationals put in a lot of time and effort to attract the largest Toyota gathering in Australia, from all corners of the country, and what they don't need is someone drawing spectators and entrants away. Besides, most people spend the Friday just driving to Dubbo in the first place, highly doubt they'd be up for khana action after a 5+ hour slog in holiday traffic.
  8. If it means we get a DBS/Vantage rebadged as a Supra, I wouldn't mind
  9. But even with Takumi Tax, the amount of money you'd spend on making an AE82 RWD could buy a fairly neat, non-rust bucket AE86. Although an AE86 isn't really a RWD AE82, they have nothing in common (AE86 is still essentially E7x)
  10. Says more about the boat-anchor SR20 than the LS1, really (which also is a boat anchor, just bigger and apparently lighter )
  11. Considering how much effort and time goes just into creating an annual calendar (and then how little interest there is from the forum as a whole), I think a monthly magazine would be nigh on impossible to pull off.
  12. And you must be another keyboard warrior who has joined the forums for 5 minutes and thinks he runs the place. We get LOTS of n00bs come on here and ask stupid pipe-dream questions which obviously have never been thought over longer than a school lunch-break, and then fly off the handle when someone questions their intent/funds/knowledge. Then there is the old "I obviously haven't searched the forums or read the FAQ, both of which would provide me with the answer to the extremely simple and common question I have asked", or the "I have this random engine lying around, should I put it in my 19xx Corolla?". Almost invariably (and yes there are exceptions), this is a result of too much spare time and not enough actual research (not just posting sweeping generalised questions on a forum, but actually making a definitive list of your options/costs/skills and doing a bare minimum of a feasibility study) Sure, maybe the OP (original poster, since you're so new to forums) actually has thought about it, but the original post in the thread sounded _very_ similar to the multitude of posts that crop up on forums when young dumb teenagers don't have school to occupy their brains during daylight hours. And after a while (stick around, you'll notice it too), the veterans of this forum (and others that I am on) get quite tired of it. Although to the OP I will add - if all you are worried/uncertain about with the conversion is the engine mounts, and reckon you can tackle the rest of the conversion with aplomb, then chances are the engine mounts would be no problem and the least of your worries.
  13. 14x7 +8 MA61 wheels with 195/60 (I think) tyres fit perfect on a KE55 (not lowered), never scraped on guards and never hit struts.
  14. What problems are these? Apart from increased oil consumption with age (which _all_ A-series engines suffer, not just 7AFEs), I have yet to experience a SINGLE problem with my 7AFE, and that's after 12 years and 320,000km
  15. If you want wiring diagrams they're on my photobucket account AE102 wiring diagrams
  16. Newcastle AE102 = daily ST162 = g/f's daily AE82 TC = in shed
  17. Must be school holidays again...
  18. Could be the switch itself too, generally they are resistor packs and it is a common thing in Corollas (especially AE92s) to lose fan speeds (usually only one or two, but all can go at once too)
  19. You barely have 100HP to start with, and you want to increase power by 40% just by "tinkering"?? Not A Hope In Hell Unless you want to throw bucketloads of money at it, by which stage you could have just paid someone else to fit a 4AGE/20v etc.
  20. Intake-side 7-rib block 3-rib block (upside-down)
  21. Unless it's a 7-rib bigport, which has 42mm big ends but no oil-squirters and still has the bigport head.
  22. And if you don't have a garage?
  23. 7-rib bigport has same size bigend as the smallports...
  24. It's a conversion - VIN plate says 4AC not 4AG (you can distinctly see the lack of an E). That, combined with the 3-bolt strut tops and lack of strut brace tells me that this was an ordinary 4A-C powered AE82, not a factory-4AGE Twincam model. And to add extra info/narrow it down, it appears to be a 3-rib bluetop bigport too (intake air-temp sensor on the plenum) To the OP, if you want information on 4AGEs in FWD applications, head to either Twincam.info or AE82oc.net, both focus on FWD Corollas.
  25. Hey don't be hating the 10x's, we need all the support we can get :P
