Is this thread about what music you listen to when driving, or what songs/genre you think best suits the style of your car? Either way, here's my response. Generally listening to one of the following: Faith No More Opeth Dream Theater Prodigy Crystal Method Chemical Brothers Metallics sonicanimation General 80s and hard-rock/metal compilations Old-skool hip-hop like De La Soul and Afrika Bambaata Old-skool rock like AC/DC, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, The Who etc As for what suits the car best, I'd say Faith No More's Album Of The Year. Released in 1997 (so the same year as the car was made), it was the last album from one of the most popular and prominent bands of the 80s and 90s (just as the AE102 was the last locally made Corolla which dominated the small-car market in the 80s and 90s), it's under-rated compared to the hey-day of The Real Thing and Angel Dust (the AE82 and AE92 respectively) but is surprisingly solid, well produced, and capable of blowing you away as long as you look past some of the stigma and accept it for what it is. It also happens to be one of my favourite albums of all time, just as the AE10x is one of my favourite Corolla series of all time.

(Again) Sort-of true - Renault and Nissan are in an alliance together. Renault owns 44% of Nissan and Nissan has a 15% non-voting share in Renault. But yes, the Tiida is based on a stretched global Nissan/Renault platform that also underpins the Clio, Cube, Micra and a few others (but not the Megane, which uses a bigger platform shared by the X-Trail, believe it or not).

Sort-of. The first-gen Toyota bB was Echo/Yaris-based and re-badged as a Scion xB. The second-gen Toyota bB is related to the Daihatsu Materia and 2nd-gen Sirion, whilst the Scion xB became a re-badged Corolla Rumion.

Whats Going On With All The Toyota Forums??
Hiro Protagonist replied to levinracer's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Nah it's all cool, wasn't really interested in being a mod anyway (don't get on often enough outside of work), plus I could see that the place was never going to be the same anyway. I was willing to stick around, but I wouldn't have fully supported it. -
If it only just comes out of an XJS, then a sedan would definitely be next to impossible.

Whats Going On With All The Toyota Forums??

So can everyone, even if you're not logged in. General consensus on the old and improved TC is that the Yank deliberately made that section open (and pinned most of the topics in it that are negative towards some of the recently departed members to the top) to try and discredit those who objected to his rule. Oh, and apparently he's been editing posts to make it look like certain people said things when in fact they didn't (or the context was different etc). -

That was the condensed version (and I might have got some things out of order) - yes I know Terra and Casey asked to be deleted but over the last few days great swathes of people have been banned without notice. -
Reminds me of when I got my headlining done in the 102, one of the guys working there was a mate from primary school so spent most of the time chatting, apparently Jags are the worst cars in the world to do headlinings in as they have to be done INSIDE the car - the doors are too small to get the board out. They actually have to put the headlining in on the assembly line before the windscreen is added, as that is the only way to get it inside.

You're more than welcome to join the "old and improved" Twincam, in some ways the exodus has been good because it means that the forums are made up of only the people who post regularly and are interested in keeping the forum community together Twincam.org.au EDIT - bloody hyperlinks stuffing up -
Whats Going On With All The Toyota Forums??
Hiro Protagonist replied to levinracer's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
I assume you're referring to Twincam? Short story is this - old owner sold forums to a guy in America-land who made a lot of unpopular decisions without informing the forum population, users got annoyed and the ban-stick got waved around a lot. Then more users got annoyed, and the ban-stick came out again. Then, several disgruntled members left in a big way, leaving a steaming turd on the doorstep (metaphorically) and went and started up a "new" Twincam, including the old owner. After this point, it seems the US owner chucked a hissy-fit and banned a substantial portion of the user-base, and put the forums into lockdown (so no-one could start a thread, reply, PM, even sign-up). As of this morning it appears that even more members have been banned, whether or not this is linked to the users who migrated to the "new" forum or not is hard to tell because no-one can go back in and have a look. However it does appear that the old forum has been unlocked again, but with the core of the knowledge-base having well and truly left, the site will be pretty much dead. -
Why Wait For Toyota To Do It?

Except the 112s are crap :D -
Which model 3S is it? In general there's a fair bit of work involved in converting a non-blacktopBEAMS 3S to RWD, it has been done though (there's a guy on here with a Gen2/Gen3 in a KE25 for instance). There are much easier conversions though, and in general you shouldn't put an engine in a car simply because "you got it for free" or "it was just lying around".
-
A 5K is essentially a bored 4K, which makes it oversquare, and oversquare engines tend to rev well
-
Ahh, the Team Science Ninja Racing KE lives again :)

4age Bigport Or Smallport

More accurate gauge (because it is less likely to be swapped out) is the lack of air-temp sensor on the intake plenum (7-ribs have it on the airbox) -
A Few Questions About My Corolla...
Hiro Protagonist replied to cee7resh's topic in General Mechanical
The first link is useless, the OP says they have a '92 CSi and never once mention carby. Anyway, the average punter probably doesn't know the difference between CS and CSi and just assumed that the base model was always called CSi (just as a person not educated about the KEs might always assume that the SE was the top-of-the-range because it was "Special Edition") The "upgrade" of a CS was the CSX. When the 4AF went fuel injected, the CSX was replaced by the Ultima (which in Seca form got the 7AFE in Nov 1992 with the RV), and the CS changed to a CSi, with the SE remaining carby but stepping up from the 6AFC to the 4AFC. Remember that you can't always go off badges etc as it is quite common for whole hatches or bootlids to get swapped (either due to accident damage, rust etc) and the badges come along with it. If you take a look at Redbook, you'll see that in August 1991 (ie the release of Series 2), the CS disappeared and the CSi appeared for the first time in Corolla history (only EFI engines before that were in the SX and AE82 TC), and at the same time the engine changed from 4AFC to 4AFE (except in the SE). Then, in 1993, the CSi Limited appeared as a run-out model. In saying that, show me official Toyota Australia spec-sheets saying that there was a carby CSi, and I will admit defeat. I highly doubt such literature exists though. -

Hiro Protagonist replied to cee7resh's topic in General Mechanical
There is no such thing as a carby CSi. Either it has had an engine change, or the stickers/badges are wrong (indicating possible accident damage/swapped panels etc) The CSi came out with the facelift series 2 AE9x series in 1991, the CSi was a replacement for the CS (the "i" denoted the switch to EFI, stood for "injected". And the CSi Limited did not come out until 1993 (run-out model by the looks of it, as the AE10x replaced the range in 1994). So if the car is a 1991, then it ain't a CSi Limited. -

7AFE then? :o -
On second thoughts, it looks like a Carina E, which is essentially a T190 Corona anyway (just a bit different). I think the RX was throwing me off size-wise (and the Corona didn't grow anywhere near as much as the Corolla and Camry did over the years) Here's a Carina E
-
I'd be guessing Tercel, too small for a Corona or Carina and definitely isn't an ADM model.

All Corvettes have had some kind of leaf spring in their suspension design (not just Z06, which is silly anyway since the Z06 is just a spec, not a particular model or generation), however ever since the C2 (the C1 had a live rear end with leaves) they have been fully independent front and rear. The transverse set-up has many distinct advantages and is also almost completely different to a traditional longitudinal setup. The transverse leaf has also been single-leaf fibreglass since the C4.
