You should be able to still turn it over even with the plugs in. Obviously be a lot harder. Is the car in neutral. Thought I'd better ask after the waterpump pulley incident.

The "Thomas Knight Turbo Electric Supercharger" is about the only one that works. Google it.

Sure can. As for not rotating.... Is your camshaft timing setup correctly? No piston valve contact at all? Did the bottom end spin over freely before you put the head on?

I hate the way they play the volume of adds so much louder than the telly shows.

ATM I am in the process of moving our companies existing multiple disjointed systems towards an integrated ecommerce solution, which will cut the current order handling time to approx 15% of what it is taking now. Plus it will give the sales team and also customers the ability to log in and place orders in real time as well as being able to check account status etc. without having to ring head office. Today I've run into a huge headf@$k. I've discovered that the current accounting system is setup all wrong. It is seriously f@$ked up, and will not integrate into the ecommerce suite without some major fixing. I contacted the person involved and copped grief on their behalf. Poor thing, so overworked, it is not my fault they don't know what they are doing and have seriously stuffed up, and I've been the one to pick up on it. Looks like they have a lot of work ahead of them to fix things up. Shits me that I look bad, as I'm the one dealling with the ecommerce company. They are like WTF. The boss was hoping to get the new system online early january. Looks like it is going to take a lot longer now. Not my fault, I'm doing all I can do.

Could be the needle and seat in the carb. Is it more likely to stall if you pull up fast?

4k Cams. Any Cuts Better Than Others?

LOL. DCD's are oldschool cool themselves. Original fitment to Mk1 1500 GT cortinas, and Fiat 1500 cabriolet's. DCD's are pure bliss when it comes to set and forget. You won't get a simpler (totally tunable) carb to work on. It is much easier to setup one carb compared to two. No worries about balancing etc. Also for those that say that they've had their sidies setup and haven't touched them in years.... Well you are missing out. You should really rejet your carbs a few times a year to take into account seasonal/temperature changes. Unlike EFI, carbs are dumb and cannot automatically adjust the fuel curve for the cooler months when the air is denser, nor the hotter months when the air is not so dense. -
Yea and the 3kb carbs will have more throttle response and make more torque up to around 4 grand. You just have to find the best compromise to suit your needs, combo, budget. I'd just use whatever you've got for starters. You can always upgrade at a later date.

It is a coupe. Coupes are sporty cars, they look wrong with venetions and sunvisors... Accessories like that look much much better on sedans. Yea needs more rake. VW's just beg for it.

You could always buy yourself one of these: Remanufactured DCD Weber The price is pretty good considering it has been remanufactured to new specs. You'd also need a DGV adaptor plate to fit it onto a stock single carb inlet manifold and a filter. You won't get a better allround performance/economy carb for a street K motor. Love the way you don't even have to remove the airfilter to change the idle and main jets. :) You could always sell the twin aisans to subsidise the purchase. Sidedrafts are great for ouright power but are very expensive to setup, expect little change from a grand. -
Definitely. Awesome (super compact) setup when working properly, hideously expensive to replace parts. would be great (apart from cost) as a retrofit for engine conversions to free up firewall space. I could have got the whole setup from a euro wreckers for $300, but would rather just fix things properly as needed. You using it still Matt? Saw you were playing with it in your old littleredspirit thread to clean up the firewall for more space.
-
Yea what idiot would subscribe to that. A 30 second google image search (safesearch off) would most likely yield better results. LOL. Not that I'd ever do that. :)

Not sure if I've said it before, but Rivers adds. They shit me. Last place I would want to shop, purely because of their crap advertising.

LOL. I laughed at the dude from Pedders. I didn't even worry about contacting the local BMW stealership. A while back I was after a brake bomb (hydraulic pressure accumulator sphere for the hydraulic brake booster system, like a vacuum brake booster but stores 15 brake pumps of pressure with the motor not running), they wanted over a grand for the bomb and the two pressure switches. Got them from some other place for $330 delivered. Couldn't get it from overseas as they are hydrogen filled and cosidered hazardous for air shipping.

Want some new rear shocks for my E32. Best price I can get from within AU is $700 through some Euro mob, Pedders want $900 (not fitted). Both prices are for Bilstein Blacks which are just a standard OEM spec shock. I can get Boge/Sachs (proper oem as fitted in factory by BMW) for $305 delivered to my door from the US. Bilstein HD's for about $400 odd also from the US with postage. Shits me how local mobs have so much markup trying to be so greedy. I'll be sending my cash offshore. Hope the local mobs go bust.

I actually got 124 CFM for the stock 4k at 83% volumetric efficiency. Right on for the carb. Ok, I'll make you think again (well not to hard, it is an easy question). Do you think having a carb that is over twice the CFM capacity of the motors requirement is a good thing?

Robert, you should ask... why did toyota start with bigport heads, then drop them and go to small port heads, still keeping the same valve size? Then, what did toyota do differently with the heads on the later dished piston motors, and why? KE55PIG the point of that pic is that port size is only a very small part of the equation. The thing to note is that it is far more important to encourage the intake charge to change direction and flow past the valves with minimal restriction. -
Don't know where you read that. That carb would suit a worked 2L motor nicely. A stock 4k is only 1.3L, and until you add extractors, exhaust and a cam you are wasting your time fitting a larger carb. Do yourself a favour. Google "engine cfm calculator". Find a calculator, enter in your engine specs and find out the CFM requirements for a stock 1300cc 4k revving to 6500 rpm. Then go and google "weber 38/38 dgas cfm". When you've done that come back and report on how many cfm a stock 4k needs, and how many cfm a weber 38/38 dgas can deliver.

I've avoided this thread until now. Do some research. Read. The answers to all of your questions have been covered before. I don't mind helping people, but refuse to spoon feed someone who can't take the time to actually help themselves. Go buy some engine tuning books and read, reread and read again until you understand what the author is talking about. A couple of good authors are A. Graham Bell, and David Vizard. Best investment you could ever make if you want to build a decent performance motor.

Like shit.

LOL. Bigport heads. In standard form the ports are already too big for the stock valve size. Look at the following image and tell me how much advantage you would gain by hogging out the straight section of the port and not enlarging the valves or doing any bowl work. -
Me too. Got my C-Drives today. Can't wait to see how they go once they are scuffed in. WGMG is the f@$kers scratched a couple of my rims when they fitted the tyres. Another thing is I've discovered a split CV boot looking under the back of it. :y: More money.

We had a mega storm tonight and the power is out. Gotta love having a netbook with 5 hour battery time and a 3G toggle. Energex site said power would be on in our area at 8.30, then changed to 11.30 then 1.30. Really it doesn't matter, but I wish they would make up their bloody mind. Tyre joints. Was told yesterday my new tyres would be in at 9.30 this morning, come down then. Was doing some work stuff this morning and rang at 11. The dude said the yokohama truck should have been in by 11, and must be running a bit late. Left my number for them to ring back when they turned up. Lucky I didn't rock up first thing. Anyway doing work stuff through the day waiting for their call, nothing, rang them after 3. "Oh the yokohama truck just turned up a few minutes ago, I'll check for your tyres..... Yea they are here". Yea right, more like the f@$king things have probably been sitting there most of the day, and the mindless twat was just to preoccupied with reading the latest Picture magazine and picking his nose to do his job.
