  1. You could always deburr, balance and shot peen a set of dished 4k or 5k rods. What sort of motor are you building Cam?
  2. Curly, check out old Holden brochures. EH Premiers had whitewalls. So to did HQ premiers. HQ monaros had redwalls.
  3. Yep that's the one. :) Awesome stuff.
  4. I want to be an individual like everybody else. Personally I really don't give a shit what the car looks like from the outside. You can't see the outside of the car when you are driving it anyway. Stuff spending a fortune on rims or other visual crap. I'd rather put my cash towards stuff that actually improves the performance, driving dynamics and safety of the car. Yes ke10's are worth SFA when you compare them to other more notable cars of the era. Try buying a overrated mazda R100 for under 40 grand these days. overrated Datsun 1200 coupes and 1600's would be worth a shitload more than the 6 grand or so a overrated ke10 would command.
  5. Not a fan of them myself, but hey different strokes for different folks. Another argument could be why spend many times more than the car was worth making a street registered corolla run 11 sec quarters when you can only legally do 100 kays on the highway? Doesn't that take away originality, so should theoretically devalue the car? Really RWD Corollas are worth SFA. It is not like whitewalls are an irreversable modification that involves carving up the car.
  6. Use permatex No.3 Aviation non hardening goo on the gasket. Put a dab on the threads. Will never loosen or leak.
  7. 3K-B manifold with a couple of weber adapter plates. If you wanted twin downdrafts you can't go past 28/36 DCD Webers. They are more tunable than sidedrafts over a much wider rev range. You can change venturis (19mm - 28mm in 1mm increments for both primary and secondary throats), and everything else is tunable. Coolest thing about them is you can change the idle jets and main jets without even removing the aircleaner. :) Probably won't be cheap though as they are rare, orig fitment to MK1 1500GT Cortinas.
  8. A rim with the wheel nuts done up a half dozen turns or so makes a good slide hammer. You have undone the 4 nuts that hold the axle retaining plate?
  9. All of the above are very good reasons to buy the best tyres you can afford. The difference between say a budget cheapy tyre and a quality performance tyre (not semi-slick) is like night and day in the wet. Tyres are the single most important part of a car when it comes to handling, braking and safety.
  10. Have a look here Jip
  11. No Evan, that was with warm 5k, dcd weber and 4.5 diff. Driveway has a 30 degree angle by the inclinometer in the missus 4by. The twin aisans give a useful increase in power and torque over a stock carb. Not a fan of them myself, sold my set. Got nothing on a dcd for performance, simplicity, reliability and tunability. Back on topic. I think the guy is looking for a stock single carb to fit in with rules for speedway. The 3k ke30 carbs aren't too bad with minimal polution crap. I've got a box full of various aisan carbs and bits, the venturi sizes vary. You can unstake the venturis and swap them around. I'd go for 24mm primary and secondary for more airflow.
  12. Wicked motor and suspension bits. Pity the car looks like a busted asshole.
  13. Yea. It helps though if you start with a healthy low kay bottom end, and take your time finding bits and pieces at the right price. Had a look at the website of the place madKE35coupe posted. They've got a Flow bench and engine dyno.... That is how they make all their power. Must build myself a Flow bench one day.
  14. I started with a 4k in good nick and went from there. Headskim, 3 angle valve job, porting (DIY job), VRS kit, cam regrind, DCD weber, carb kit, filter, adapter plate, Scorcher recurved dizzy, 2nd hand extractors, 1 7/8" exhaust, new clutch, 5 speed, 4.5 diff. All for under a grand. :)
  15. Yea, that was my old website. I took it down a while back.
  16. Well my 2 cents is that it costs under grand to put together a warm 4k in a ke1x that will go just as hard as a ke3x with a 4age conversion. 6cyl falcadores are easy meat.
  17. Yes I do realise that, hence my comment "unless it was of course a requirement for some racing class". I'm talking in the here and now, ie. the noughties, not the 60's-70's. People are talking like they want one of these motors in their daily driven ke35 or something. Yes a full race 4k will make more power than a stock 4age... Would it be quicker on the street? Not necessarily, the race 4k would be a pig of a thing with bugger all power down low, it would need a close ratio gearset and short diff gears to keep it in its' powerband on gearchanges. Would it be cheaper than a 4age conversion...... No. Personally I think if you want to build a k series, you are best putting it in a lightweight ke1x. With the later chassis' and their extra weight (plus engine bay size), starting with an engine conversion makes more sense, unless you go forced induction.
  18. I don't understand why anyone would waste so much money on a k series motor, unless it was of course a requirement for some racing class. Look at Billzillas pages and the comparison he made between motors for the Sports1300 class to make 135hp... LOL, the G13b is just a mild street motor. It is interesting to note that the same money/work put into the Suzuki motor would net approx 170-180hp at 10,000rpm.
  19. You guys are talking about auxillary venturis, Metal epoxy them in place.
  20. Yep, ke1x have 12 inch rims stock, I think 4 inch wide. Must have some mazda rims on it. Mazda 626 rwd or RX4 rims are 13x5.5" and fit nicely. The 626 ones are fairly easy and cheap to come by.
  21. How wide are your 13" rims? I'd be saving up and getting some 175/60s or 185/60s if you are actually interested in handling.
  22. Needle and Seat.
  23. Knowing the model number which is usually always stamped on the base of every weber would make it a lot easier to source an adapter plate. If they are DGV's use a 32/36 DGV adapter plate which is easy to find.
  24. Yep. Some bullet mirrors maybe? suit the sportier lines of the fastback better.
