  6. Yeah sam has sent me a pdf of the exact layout spaced like I need. So I can't wait till the plate is done. Sams doing it with his next batch of machining. Gonna most likely run with that in the end. Want to buy some silvertop itbs if anyone has them lying around. Send me a pm. Especially brissy locals. :laff:
  7. Hahaha, nah no trumpets out the bonnet for me. I'm just gonna shoot them over the brake booster, I will make the manifold drop the angle by 2 or 3 degrees.
  8. Yeah I was thinking I could weld it up with no holes cut there and drill after. Might take more heat then.
  9. You can go ahead and make the machined plate, to say 8-10mm thickness. With 43mm bores spaced 97mm centre to centre. Mad as, let me know what I owe you when its done. If this doesn't weld properly Ill cut it off and go again with the machined one. I took supreme care for a manual drill but I wouldn't weld this one on until I had some throttles test fitted on it. looks good though. Give me half an hour and Ill post pics of the manifold ready to be welded.
  10. I sourced the correct tubing today and I also sourced a 6mm alloy plate to mount the throttles on, and rather than much around, I measured out and drilled the plate for silvertop ITBs. Now I just need to find a set to check with and then have it welded together. Honestly, once I decided how to do it, it was one and a half hours work. I need to find some way to cut neat 44mm holes in 6mm alloy plate. Might need to see a machinist.

  12. Just got a call back from Jenveys Aussie distributor. I'm looking at 270 each plus post, with any butterfly size I want, tapered bore, no injector, and oring sealed unions. Very tempting. Expensive but oh so decent!

  14. I must have spent 2 years thinking about it, talking to people and gathering all the info I could before I was confident enough to just begin work. Some things you just have to get by as you go. The next ass pain is the tensioner and belt arrangement. The exhaust will be easy, but the alternator comes quite close to where Id like it to be. Maybe moving the alternator to the inlet side will be the best option and just modify the stock tensioner to work, or maybe it will work anyhow. To my Sci fleet homies, can you have a look on your junk 2azfes and see if there are any random brackets that I might be able to build an alternator mount off, particularly on the inlet side? Or, are you aware of any 1azfe or 2azfe variants that have the alternator in a different spot? I assume it gets moved for the trd supercharger kit to be fitted, so is there an alternate mounting for it provided with the kit?
  15. Just found a source for the tube I need for the itb manifold. Silvertop throttles might work yet, I've just found tube that's 50 od and 3mm wall thickness, so 44mm id. thanks to J and J bullbars. This means its a tiny port match to a silvertop throttle, which can be done in the throttle mounting plate thickness, and a tiny port match at the flange plate to the tube. Its all starting to make sense now. Since I have all the room in the world, I will be spacing out the throttles and maybe getting Sams help to widen the linkages if you don't mind Sam. I might see if this bullbar guy who is selling me the tube will be able to weld it up for me aswell once I shape it all.

The motor leans toawrds the inlet side in a Camry, before I even considered the lean, I got some fresh oil and ran it through the head to see how it drains. keen players will notice that the oil can drain down the entire timing column aswell, so it wont get trapped in the head like the slightly inferior past oiling designs. If i was really worried there is an ideal oil drain spot at the rear left hand side of the head, but I don't think that needs doing.
  17. Oh Sam, by the way, I asked my mate about the BMW itbs. Rarer than rocking horse poo, the last set he had, he had to buy an m3 motor to get them, and that wasnt cheap.

Yeah my 2 methods Ive come up with at first glance was to convert an alternator to a strap adjuster and make that fit and adjust the belt or to leave it where it is and make a tensioner for the belt. If you know of any other alternators that could be suitable with minimal ustom work I'm there, otherwise I will just rework what I have. I have a couple of old 4age threaded adjustable idlers from past 20vs and if I could fit them Id be fine. Might go to the wreckers and see what i can find today.
  19. It leans because thats how the motor engages the bellhousing. Ive decided it helps with a number of clerance issues so its a win for me. It shortens the height so minimal bonnet contact occurs. It also leans the inlet away from the brake booster and clutch master, and it also gives me all the starter clearance in the world. Ive looked at the pickup, I just need a 90 degree bend in a double flanged pipe to make it work fine. One day when I pull it all apart and make the sandwich plate I need. For sure, I have the CD in the Rolla waiting for you to collect too. Funnily, a sky fleet foreman came to look at it the other day when he came with Wade (kronix) to look at his car that's just been painted at my shop.
  20. The idler is a massive part, Id do well to remove it and just use a simpler and adjustable threaded rod locator.
  21. Finished off the mounts and then put it all back together for a photo. Might curl the inlet down a tiny bit so it stays below the bonnet. It interferes with the bonnet, I kinda expected that. The stock sump works fine and is easy on and off while in the car. Sits about the right height, I'm seriously considering just using it and pointing the pickup at the low point, as well as adding a drain. Next annoying thing is the serpentine belt arrangement as I am deleting a couple of things and may need to have a custom idler pulley. Or maybe modify the stock one to work with a threaded adjuster that wont interfere.
