  1. Dropped off the bits to Zenith engineering to have the oil pickup extension made. Going with Mild steel so it can bend like the sump if it gets a knock someday. Its a pretty simple mod, just need to make and bolt in a 90 degree bend as an extension to reposition the pickup screen in the lower left corner of the sump instead of up the front like it is stock. I need to weld a nut on the inside edge for the sump drain plug also, then thats all the sump mods I need. Looking to swap out my lower and harder engine mounts from the 20v ae71 and use them in this build. CBF paying close to $200 for a pair of new ones, so Ill use the Cuscos I have. This will aide bonnet clearance and tunnel/firewall corner clearance. It is a tall engine, and it is tall under the crank and tall in the head. All things considered it looks pretty natural in there. Kinda reminiscent of a K motor leaning over to the left, except with the inlet on the roomy side. Its kinda cool how the girth of the motor and manifold lines up with the deepest recess in the firewall almost uncannily. There is enough room, I'm sure Ill be able to run the coolant outlet behind the head and under the inlet manifold like you can on a 20v. Ill also be able to fit the heater connections in. That will be a novelty come winter. So once the oil pickup screen is extended, I can place the sump bung and at the same time Ill have my welder mate help me with making an idler/tensioner mount to sit where the PS used to. I should be able to make a fixed pulley fit there and tension it all with the stock tensioner arrangement.

  3. No using silvertop throttles. Not planning to bore them out at all. Just going to do some testing before I worry about that. As it is the throttle size suits the pipe size in the manifold perfectly.
  4. Everyone wants one, but I would be wary of scammers. I know there was a scammer selling these things on the net a while back, had some photos of some motors he was using to presell then never deliver them to overseas customers. There were some major issues if I remember correctly. Rocking horse poo just doesnt become available all of a sudden.
  5. The rotors are the same, I think the brackets are slightly different, but only in their rotational placement of the rotor, I will know more once I do it. Looks like a more solid pair of calipers.

  7. Just got a new set of rear brakes in the mail. I'm doing the ta/ra40 gt disc upgrade on it (thanks Glenn!). The calipers are supposed to be better nick than the ones I presently use, that squeak and ruin the handbrake adjustment. Hopefully now I can do up the rear end a bit more. I've got the brake upgrade, some beautifully made Goodridge adr approved brake lines in black colour, and a brand new left rear bearing on one of my spare axles. So hopefully that stops my left rear axle seal leaking once the new seal and retainer goes in. Should be a perfect rear end once you consider the freshly lapped gears and new bearings in the centre and the new handbrake cables. Maybe still need to put in a once piece tail shaft at some stage. So might change diff, box and engine oils at the same time and refresh the brake fluid as well. Then once I fix the wiring Ill be ready for another tuning trip to the strip to check how its all running and make further improvements.
  8. OK got tot he bottom of the fuelling issues, number to injector wire is loose at the terminal. Had a few more diagnostics to run and eliminated the injector, fuel pump, reg or ecu as the fault. Its just another issue caused by either Anthony Kellams lack of crimping ability or adaptronics early generic pin design. Will unplug the ecu today and fix the wires.
  9. Happy to help any way I can. Have been having fuelling issues this weekend. Was leaning out on all 4 cylinders so looking at a fuel supply issue. I have put in a different fuel pump relay, and fuel filter, but I think its an issue with the fpr, as I had the same issues after. I removed the reg and tried to clean it and remove any contaminants. So far so sgood, but I dare say tomorrow will be the real test. Will have to toydiy to see what fits. Just got home from an all night shop fit. Moved a shop from Northlakes to Chermside Westfield. Big night indeed, now to try and sleep.

Well Dave, if the map sensor is just reading atmospheric pressure then it will instead measure the fuel change required by a particular throttle application then multiply it by a gain % to scale in extra fuel based off the fuel map for a particular tps vs rpm point. i can also define the period for which this happens and the pulse of fuel will decay by halves over the prescribed period. For example, if the throttle change requires 4ms additional fuel and my gain % is 200%, then it will give 8ms enrichment on the next pulse of an injector or add extra to the current one if an injector is open in that instant. It works great, drives like any stock ecu car now. Maybe better. Need a 20v on a stock ecu to race me one day. :laff:

  13. Be a while yet I think. Just taking each step slowly and with lots of planning. I'm very very pleased with this manifold. Its a fairly straight shot into the throttles, they point above the brake and clutch stuff, miss the fuel rail and allow ideal room for injector access. Also, it misses the VVTI solenoid handily, sticks out just far enough and looks hot like the rest of the alloy engine and head. The welding looks pretty nice, and you can see the little platforms I had fitted for the bungs to go to vacuum brake booster and the custom vacuum manifold I need for a map sensor. I might initially just get it running with some stock trumpets and make a simple box. I really want it to be quiet and not sound like it has carbs or itbs for something different.   14. Map based enrichment is amazing. Now the car feels like its on a stock ecu, it just pulls! Also now that i have tuned the top end, it feels a lot faster! can't wait to race Timbo again, he is going down! haha. :laff: :laff:

Just got the manifold back, it has very little warpage. :laff: :rolls: I'm super happy with it, now I need to face and seat the tabs I had added for vacuum nipples and the booster port, and drill and tap their holes also. Welding looks good, there's a few minor pinholes but hard to avoid in alloy, but importantly, it seals air tight and the welds look hot. I'm gonna polish the whole thing once I face the throttle side lightly on a linisher. The engine side needs no linishing really, it has about a 20 thou twist that should seat itself when bolted down and the oring will seal a treat.
  16. Getting the manifold back tomorrow all welded up, So I guess I will put up some images of it fitted for you guys, with the quads all mounted. Will need some slightly down curved trumpets, which presents a technical challenge.

You are happy to use our free forum to market your parts to other corolla people, so with that in mind, smarten up your tone. I have given you the benefit of the doubt this week on a trading issue, so its time to repay the faith with some appropriate behaviour. You must understand that what is funny to you is most likely stupid and offensive to others, so be a team player and shut up before you run out of options.
  19. Heat shield? You mean the big plate I put under the inlet? I have actually taken it out as it rattled a bit the way I had made it. I'm working on version 2 now with Sam Qs help (if I ever remember to email him the measurements). I have spent the last 24 hours switching it over from tps based transient enrichment, to map sensor based. I didn't initially realise this but the Map prediction function will also perform accurate enrichment beyond where the map sensor reads. It does this by comparing the start and end points of the throttle application and by factoring the difference into an algorithm and applying a multiplyer (called gain%). I've set my gain to 200% presently, which is where Andy Wyatt said I should start. Already it gives a much nicer transient enrichment. Its a lot more in tune with the cars needs at any particular instance as it references rpm in its calcs when it looks up the 2 values in the tune and deducts them, whereas the tps based enrich does not. It just looks at tps change, and not the place you are in the revs. Its very hard to tune that for all situations, you simply cannot. Whereas the map prediction is intuitive. SO I should waste less fuel on big throttle applications and look after the motor better, not to mention better throttle response and power. Andy has sent me about 8 emails in the last 24 hours, for a busy man he sure looks after his customers really well. :laff: :laff: :laff:

Interesting to compare the setups, hehas a rebuilt smallport with bigport cams and 4.3:1 revving to 7800. I have a 20v with 4.7:1 revving to 8400.
