Hey the brown is cool. 4x4 stance is not.
-
Its now sporting a well aligned nanna brown front end, minus beaver panel, since I don't have a straight one. Fresh exhaust gaskets have also been installed. Now I'm off to munchies to collect my 2 recoed wheels from Terry.

Lately Ive noticed a rash of incidents where Ive seen fantastic, big money cars doing stupid things. I saw a nice 5 series spun backwards into a bus shelter in the wet. Also a full sheiked out arab woman covered in jewellery in a massive Mercedes SUV doing a u turn on the busiest road in Brisbane in a really inappropriate place, just sitting there and blocking a lane of traffic each way waiting for a gap that would never arrive. Then there was the convertible mercedes that jammed its brakes on without any indication in bumper to bumper 60klm/hr traffic and just parked in the right lane in front of me trying to do an illegal right turn on the same crazy street. When 50m up the road there was a custom made uturn/slip lane that she could have put it into and had a traffic light let her accross the busy traffic. I just don't get it. If I had spent over 100 grand on a car Id be just a touch more careful with it. I hate to point it out for fear of starting a shitfight but the only man involved was the drift king that went backwards into a bus shelter. :lolcry: The inconsiderate driving was a couple of females. :lolcry:

Yes but yours has a 20v already in it! I pulled the front end panels off, its had a cut doen on the rhs before. Ill have a measure when its light and see whats going on, it looked pretty good really. Theres a bit of rust under the booster, so while the motors out Terry and I will surely fix that.
-
Good one. No, one of the stems is leaking air, so ill get that fixed and then Ill put em on the front.
-
Yeah I probably will. I forgot to mention, Terry took all the bits to his mate the powdercoater. I'm getting a black hammertone with a silver ripple through it. I think its called Aztec Silver. Should look porn.

Man thats a clean interior! Good score. Glad to see you in another rolla. :lolcry: :lolcry:

Shes welded back up now. Ive just gotta go get a gasket and put it in, buts well and truly welded now. I might fit the limited slip diff and see what the 4ac can do one day soon.

It was more like 8 minutes after rego it broke, and the funny thing was i was just pulling up at some lights.
-
Its regoed! It was a bit of an interesting afternoon getting it sorted. I got CTP on the vehicle, and drove it without plates to Archerfield where I got the roady. I stopped for fuel on the way and she had a good go at dieseling on after the ignition was off. That wasnt a good sign. Brad was with me so he had a quick look until we decided to just cruise and get the most out of it if it was gonna decide to die. It made it to the garage, passed, and somehow stopped dieseling on after the roady was issued, we must have blown enough old carbon through it for the day. On the way home the exhaust snapped, only about a klm from home so I just limped in. It broke off under the manifold, I think its only been connected there and the muffler for the longest time, the mounts are gone in between. Terrys gonna come weld it up in the short term. It will be pulled out in a week or two, but Id like to daily it a bit first and sort out a few other things, just small things, like align up a set of front end panels for it, and tidy up the dash, fit the stereo, and parcel shelf, just make the car a bit tidier still so once the motor and suspension are in theres nothing to do.

Nice work. I used to live in Toowoomba, as you can see the quality of the journalism in the chronicle leaves a lot to be desired. Thats not a surprising story, knowing what some people in Toowoomba are like.

Cheers. The new windscreen is fitted. It looks great! $225 fitted onsite. Thats the best price I could find. Its so clear, makes me want to polish the rest of the glass. Nah, its not that sort of car. :)

One more positive post from you and well have to change the title to what shines my gears. Wheres all the negativity gone in here lately?
-
Glad you liked it, it was an epic car. Makes me sad to think about how it ended up. Ive looked at the 2pak colour chart, I'm going with a bronzy mettalic colour I think. Probably ppg andonic bronze powdercoat on the engine crossmember, mounts, gearbox crossmember, bonnet hinges, bonnet latch, the clips that hold the fuel and brake lines, as well as any bracketing and bits and pieces I use. I'm also gonna do the ends of the strut brace, and the towbar minus the tongue for stiffness and style points. Should look good, a little flashy but still understated, and against a clean white engine bay it will look sharp I think. The motor is mainly black and silver metal so I don't want to dress it up too much.

Looking tuff champ, those meshies will be off tap. I rang that mob instant about a windscreen he wouldnt honour the prices you told me so I got another guy coming now. When were you gonna drop over with the powdercoaters colour chart and grab these bits? Oh and I threw the mk3s on my car, only to find one was flat, the stem is loose! Bastards. -
Getting a windscreen tomorrow lunchtime. Then Ill be on the road. Aside from the front end tidy up the car is ready, I might not bother aligning the panels and lights until the motor is in, or Ill just damage something.
-
No chance. I have spare brace and rad support here on the spare car, I might use that yet.
-
Geez terry, pimp for the wheels arent ya. What you get now? I just went to the wreckers and got all the bits, seat, seal, some trims, and some ae86 hubs as well to keep as spares for my struts. Should be all ready by late this arvo.
-
I just got in from working on it. The carpet is in, door trims, I even polished all the chrome on the doors and pillars while it was all apart. All i need to do is fit one door trim and find a boot seal and passenger seat, then the windscreen and its roady time. Its all coming up awesome, too. :jamie:

i need to bend the front crossbrace up about 8mm to line up the front end properly, the bonnet sits too low once its in the catch. I'm thinking about hanging the car up by the crossbrace with the engine crane for a few minutes. That should be enough to lift it some...
-
Same laws here, we must have the lowest sprung part of the car at no lower than 100mm. Some of the more illegal cars Ive seen are around 50mm, but they get caught in the end, and end up back at full height.

How a well cop treats you is directly proportional to how well you treat them. There is the odd exception, and in those cases if you truly were burned you can apply through freedom of information for the transcript and tapes of your encounter. If you have been treated unjustly (and the tapes reflect it) you can refer the problem to the crime and misconduct commission for investigation. When the cop isnt a cop anymore you win. Most are business like, cordial and push the odd button to get a response. You could always try the old, "Oh no, will this ticket affect my chance to become a police officer?" and hope they side with you a bit and take a shine to you. WGMG is the blokes next dooe building the house, its not nice or legal to be woken at 6am each morning by earthmoving equipment. I mean the yard is 5 x 12 metres, how many bobcats do you need?
