  1. Thats the way, mate. Nothing wrong with a Valiant. My mate had one in Highschool and it went anywhere. :jamie:  A TA22 soinds cool. Make sure you do a project thread for it when you get it happening.
  2. Passed roady first go. Almost didnt start this morning after yesterdays rain, but she was all good when it counted. It drives nicer than Id have ever have hoped. Its rocking a csx velour passenger seat and my Recaro seat.
  3. Having lived in toowoomba for a couple of years, I knew people that treated the up part of the range as a racetrack. So that may help explain the cameras. i just get the shits when cars want to move left and right all the time, just drive in the right lane or youll pull out on someone doing the limit and ruin their momentum up the hill. Truck left, cars right please! Looks like you all had a great time, i would have loved to go on this cruise.
  4. Any good ecu will have cold motor enrichment at startup. I saw a BMW E30 race car that had no cold enrichment the other day, she started fine but backfired and carried on till it was warm. It had a megasquirt. Nice car though. As youve pointed out the most crucial thing is to have an excellent tuner.
  5. You can fail if its ripped up under the pedals so its out. I'm not bothered. Cheers Undertaker. :jamie:
  6. Its now without carpet. New front seat belts. New rear left taillight. Rust fixed. No front seats at the moment, will toss a pair in tomorrow morning. Roady tomorrow at 10am.
  7. Thats the one. i just won some wheels on Ebay for this rig/pig. $149 for a full set of SSR MK 2R in 15x7. Woot!
  8. You bet. Its getting an instant 20v conversion. With mod plates this time. Ill need to cut up my old exhaust to make the new one. Ill re use the cat, muffler, and resonator. Its going to have 4-2-1s this time around.
  9. Could be a bad idea. Do you have P Plate power and modification restrictions? Suss it out and get back to us. If its a go then theres 5sfe, 3sge, 2azfe, 3rzfe, 3vzfe, 5vzfe, 1mzfe, 2grfse. All from Toyota. Theres absolutely nothing terribly easy about any of these.
  10. Yeah I guess if you were on the cruise it meant you have a rolla on the go already so sorry but I'm putting it to good use. Beerhead popped over today for a look and ended up fixing the starter issues. It had 2 relays wired in series and one of them was broken and it was just unneeded and shit. We put the wire brush into the drill and cleaned all the grounds, replaced the cables that were shoddy, and it started off the key like a dream. So thats when we actually heard how rattly this 4k is. Its only gotta last a week to get me around to the rwc place and to qld transport. Its the original motor going by the documents with the car, and its got 291,000klms. The 4 speed is a conversion. She started life as auto. The rust has been brushed back, and bogged over. Its not a spectacular job but its gonna be water tight. I need a can of beige touch up. For the name, I'm looking for a big 1980s Camel cigarretes logo. Whats more 80s than cigarrette advertising?
  11. Agreed. The nickname Beigey is already taken by my beige paddock car, this car needs a different callsign...
  12. Hi guys. Let me intorduce the new vehicle. Vital Statisitcs: Colour: beige Rust: standard here and there Wheels: 13x5.5 hotwires Motor: 4kizzle my nizzle Gearbox: Umm, havent even checked Diff: Yes there is a diff. Plans: Silvertop with Blacktop Quads. Adaptronic T50 JDM AE86 Kouki Disc LSD Bigger rims. Lowered, although I may keep a gravel friendly setup in this vehicle. Pics shortly :jamie:
  13. I guess you really only really need enough caster to return the wheel to straight coming out of corners. You can add as much as you want, it will make it turn in harder. After a point however you will find it has high speed oversteer that is hard to control. Just play with it and find what you like.
  14. It would sound terrible.
  15. Look for a muffler that isnt a straight through design, as these are generally quieter.
  16. Hey Dave. Firstly 4ages have a shocking raspy exhaust note as a rule. Secondly, the resonator belongs where the second muffler has been put. Its there for a reason as you discovered. Every exhaust place will put the resonator just before the diff bend. As far as I know the resonator is just a chamber of a larger volume than the pipe itself, and has no muffling qualitys, insulation or anything. You can lessen the vibtration with a flex pipe, but resonant noise will only be removed by a resonator. Trial and error for the win. I'd have just spent some money on a better quality of single muffler. Just get a really quiet normal muffler and get the resonator re-installed, or perhaps experiment with longer or shorter resonators before the first muffler. A lot of the noise that came from my exhaust as you know was from the shitty ultra thin and flappy heat shield above the muffler. This will give it a tinny rattle if you don't do something with it.
  17. Replace what it tells you to be broken.
  18. Use the search function buddy, theres thread after thread where this has been covered. You can make it ok with wreckers parts, but if you really want it to handle, then you will have to spend some good money on high quality dampers and springs, and nolathane bushes etc. Suspension eats money but is very rewarding to play with as far as driving goes.
  19. Drift wagon looks cool. :P
  20. Pull the diff out of the front wheel drive transaxle, and take it to a smart person with a welder. They can turn it into a 2 spinner most likely. Only do this for off highway use and if you are indeed putting it in a rwd MR type of vehicle. Otherwise its just silly. It physically wont steer if its front wheel drive, and would be highly dangerous.
  21. Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. Try using punctuation, grammar, capitals where needed, all that good stuff, it makes it look like you care. Also, there is no such thing as a 4age 20 valve manual transmission, there is a 4age 20 valve engine, it can be hooked up to at least half a dozen different transmissions in different cars around the world. You didnt even say what type of car you have, even then we need to know what the driveline is. Nobody will read your mind. If I had to assume, you would be talking about some kind of rwd installation, hence looking for a mini spool to do skids. In this case you could have a borgwarner, s or t series most likely, and there are different options for each, but nobodys gonna put the time in to list everything for you on the off chance they may not be wasting their time. Try again with more information, failing that, take pictures. Spelling fairy in da house! :bash:
  22. My honest opinion, it does look a bit dodgy compared to the Yager fitting, but if it works, it works. If it sells for 50 bucks I'm sure plenty of people would grab one, just because its 1/3 the price, and it looks like it would work fine.
  23. I must buy cars of tight arse people, cause Ive not found more than a dollar in shrapnel in a car Ive bought. Most cars Ive got lately were formerly ownded by women so i get things like melted lipstick and plastic champagne flutes, no actual items a man would want.
  24. v6 into ke70 is crying out to be done, and I think more possible.
