  1. It will work but it may hinder your air somewhat. best to get a vaccuum cleaner and a ciggy and do some tests. :P
  2. It looks nice, Sam. How about removing more of the excess metal around the non crucial areas to save weight? Also, how does it seal the spark plug tubes? In their factory installation those types of coils use a fat squishy rubber gasket to seal them. Is there a rubber seal or o ring to prevent fluid and crud ending up in the plug tubes, under the device? Does it allow the use of the factory rubber seals on top under the coils?
  3. Sorry to Hijack, Justin, Just wondering, Ive got the tacho wire connected and no tacho action, anything off the top of your head I should try?
  4. can't supply pics of a car I havent bought yet.
  5. It'd be best in my opinion to get the headers you prefer, then have a nice stainless exhaust made locally. I'm sure it would be very close. Most of those systems are under diff, so fitment may not be that hard, but I'd prefer to have the system over the diff, on a car that will be streeted.
  6. Well, it was way over full of oil. I dropped it back to full, now theres no noise from the bottom end. It was just oil slapping the crank. 4k lives on. Beery did the points for me too. :no2: Runs awesome.
  7. Its pretty irrelevant to speak of half way, 1/4 way etc when referring to a 30 year old gauge. Install an aftermarket electric temp gauge and see what the temp is in degrees. If its 80-90 once fully warm it will be fine.
  8. It wont registerable, as far as I now.
  9. As weve said before many a time. Just because you have a motor and box lying around, is no reason to chuck it in a ke70. To me, the true joy of driving a ke70 is to smash corners, get grip, and go kart like steering. I can't see a Commodoore motor achieving this. There are lighter, plentiful alloy v6 motors from Toyota these days. If you put in an MZ series v6, then it would weigh much less. The supra 5 speed will fit in the car, but I think you should swap bellhousings and fit it up to a 1mz. :y: A v6 is possibly the best configuration of motor to fit into a smaller chassis like ke70, but if the total mass is greatly increased on the front axle the ke70 won't like it much at all. A 4age is around 500-535mm long as are most Toyota inline 4 motors, from what Ive measured . What does the commodoore motor measure front to back? One member here had himself a Corona with a Buick 3.8 motor for a while. Apparently it went quite well, he had plenty of fun in it from all accounts. If you want to build a racer, its not a good idea. If your'e thinking summernats and lots of smoke, go for it. By the way in most states it will just miss out on being a legal engine conversion. :no2:
  10. No more beige bashing or ill suspend you for a week. We accept all races and colours here.
  11. I give it 6 weeks. 12 tops.
  12. Guess what guys, I found another AE71, its red, and its sexy. Very little rust, I may sell this car to use the AE71 instead. It brings back memories of the little red spirit! Still considering my options here...
  13. I just test fitted the rims on my ae86 coilovers with the Wilwoods. I have 2mm strut tube clearance, and like 7mm over the brakes. Its gonna be a perfect set of wheels to widen. They will truly be able to give me the perfect fitment if I go to 8 inch wide rims with these. Woot!
  14. Theres always that option, I reckon thered be some dipshit car that would have a spring design similar to what Id need for xt strut into ke70. I was kinda wanting to keep this one low budget so I can have some fun in it.
  15. You can't go wrong either way matey.
  16. It had less than that holding it from the factory. Fusion, no lip on this one bud. Cheers undertaker. Trev, I knew what you meant. "Off white, Beige, stucco".
  17. Also, Heres the wheels I scored from ebay. SSR MK 2 R in 15x7, offset is +27. I was close with my guess of +25. Might need a small spacer on the front, but will go straight onto the rear on stock gaurds, and I could widen them and have wheels that fit over 4 piston brakes perfectly for the other cars front end in the long term. Theres a half inch step there to aide with spoke clearance over modern calipers. Phil dropped em off today and we did some exterior work to his car, which was good fun. Heres a shot of my new walbro fuel pump, too.
  18. Yeah Ill just get a whole set of struts when the time is right, and just kit them out however I want. I want to get good springs and shocks in this car, so I don't mind getting custom ones, however Id be shocked if I couldnt adapt something.
  19. Can't get enough brown. Ive even got an AE71 panelvan steering wheel installed. Yes, its brown. I tried to put the dark brown steering column plastics in from the ae71 Panelvan also, but the wiper stalk is curiuosly in a different spot on the vans, so It doesnt quite work. I had to go with sandy brown on the column instead. Ive also fitted a spare tacho dash I had lying around, and the strut brace from the red car. I paid for my wheels, and Phil (CA18AE71) is going to collect them for me and bring them down on the weekend. I'm thinking about running xt130/rt132 struts in this car so that I can have an easy brake upgrade and have a slightly stiffer full height setup that can take good shocks. Ill use the lower control arms too, and that will be enough camber for a dirt road warrior. Ill also invest in some good full stroke shocks and run it around half to 3/4 height. The only aftermarket stuff in the suspension Ill add will be a front swaybar, just to reduce bodyroll. I might take the rear one out. I wish an S series diff came in 4.3, as Id like to run one of those, but Ill have to use the nice 2 way AE86 diff till I find another diff for this car with the right ratio for a t50/20v driveline. 4.1 just doesnt find the revs soon enough.
  20. So its all in my name now. Let the engine conversion begin.
  21. I needed to get it on the road so i can get it off the road and fix it. The motor is terminal. Seems the battery and charging system isnt at 100%. Its got a mad rattle. It really needs the 20 valve. Ill Probably start this week sometime. Should only need a few days and itll be sweet.
  22. Sounds good. It now has some wierd door trims that came from Wades South African Spec Slanty Sedan. Triple tone brown, ah yeah. Also now features a tacho dash, brown centre mirror and slimline door mirrors from an ae71 panelvan. I also hosed and scrubbed it out and its way more sanitary in there now. Ill put pics up tomorrow, its coming up a treat. :y:
  23. Probably 25 + offset Looks like someone painted them black all over. Will need a polish and paint i guess.
