  1. Define better?
  2. I think RA60 struts don't suit ke70s very well.
  3. If it is just supposed to be a daily, don't get too hung up on having a 4age. Sure the thing is rated at higher KW but it makes less torque than the 7afe. Id prefer the 7afe for strictly well behaved daily duties as it will do the stop start a bit easier, carry passengers better etc. Power in a 4age is linear with revs, so if you want to lay the 100kw down at any stage, you will be revving over 7000rpm. Not exactly 'well behaved daily driver' fasion, but lots of fun. The 7afe will only pull a bit after 6000rpm, but will do all its business well before then. All the 4a motors love to rev, even the puss box 4ac has a good go at 7500rpm if you are unkind. As stated above the 4afc revs well, so does the 4afe and don't get me started on the 4age 20valve. Its something about the 4a design, which is not unlike most other revvy inline 4 engines of the last 25 years, Cosworth BDA, Nissan FJ20, 4AGE, 3SGE. 7as like a rev too. Just not as much as a 4age. Its time to go to car yards and test drive. If you decide to get excited with a 7afe, you can always toss on a 4age head and an aftermarket ecu and tune it up for a kind of torquey rev monster 7age hybrid. It may sever conrods, however.
  4. It sure would be different. Be careful in the corners! I think you could get similar power out of a twin turbo v6, and it would hunker the weight back a bit and steer a bit better. I'm a bit biased towards v6s' though. Toyota has some awesome ones. All alloy and very powerful. But hey its your thread mate, Id be curious to see how it comes together, no matter where the hp is coming from. :)
  5. I can't believe that rim holds air. Thats massive. Why rb 26, are you planning a 1000hp corolla? :no2:
  6. Yes great footage and sound. The crispness of the sound from the Celica was awesome. Does your T motor sound like that Rob? My god. The triumph looked at home on that tarmac but a bit lost on the dirt. I think the escort may have popped a wheel on the tarmac as high as Ive ever seen it done. Cool, but Id reckon quicker with more rubber on the road.
  7. Eh its back together! Well done. Sexy time!
  8. Thats one expensive way to boost the brakes, now isnt it. don't get me started on what the H31 booster itself costs new.
  9. Saw one of these yesterday on Kingsford Smith drive, it looked unsafe enough with the 650cc engine in it.
  10. 1. Rust is the main killer on older rollas. Just look for something comparatively low in mileage. Something with a 4k will usually need a nuke to stop it. 2. 100KW/ton is easy enough to achieve, a worked 4age, sr20, 3sge, or ca18 would do it. 3. Not a whiz with turbos, sorry. 4. Unsure, ask Taz RX, lol. 5. The 4age will bolt straight in with ae71 mounting parts into a ke70. You can us a 16v 4age setup for rwd from thw importers, usually from an ae86, otherwise you will just find it best to get a half cut. 6. No, maybe 7afe, but will have fitment issues most def. 7. Forsale section here, wreckers, repco, whatever. 8. Yawn
  11. I think that the O.P. might need to read all the FAqs and wikis, search around, look at members rides, get some ideas and come back with a fresh perspective and some more interesting questions. The reason you would be different to the rest of us with a straight six motor in a ke70 is that the chassis has terrific weight balance, and its designed for a 4 cylinder inline motor. Like the others have said, it will limit the handling of the car, suspension can counter this to an extent but I personally rate handling of higher importance than performance. There are many SR20, 3sge, ca18, and 4age corollas around because those motors don't weight a tonne, and are all inline 4s that don't dump all the weight in front of the front wheels. 4agze will give you the performance you need in a Corolla, without giving you a reduction in handling.
  12. There are k-t bellhousings, not common, and there are people on rollaclub who work hard to find them, let me tell you. Just use the w box, itd be a better box anyhow, might hve a short first however. I thought they had L boxes in liteaces, maybe that was the series before.
  13. That stuff is more effective on the car, although you wouldnt need as much if you just coated your ear drums.
  14. Just do cam in the 4k, make the thing rev to 8, its $150 exercise, consult Ivan Tighe in Brisbane.
  15. Because the vin of the chassis describes a different car. All those letters and numbers mean something apparently. And they don't describe the vehicle that it is today I guess. Its just buerocracy, thats not bad for 2 plates. One at that price would be exxy but 2 is good.
  16. It shouldnt cost $250 to plate an engine. I do believe you need a mod plate, however, I hope Curly pops up and gives us the lowdown...
  17. Those Commodoores went really well for a car their weight in the crash testing proir to release. Its on youtube. Theres also some cool old Toyotas being crash tested if you want to see how scary it is. So sorry to hear about the accident. Hope all is well. Its been a bad year for Rollaclub and accidents. :)
  18. People who make technical threads in an effort to justify their own poor mechanical judgement, and when they don't get support for their stupid ideas they come out swinging, attempting to belittle all those who tried to help (since that takes less intelligence than accepting that a bad decision was made). YOU f@$kING ASKED MATE< IF YOU don't WANT TO KNOW WHAT WE THINK< don't f@$kING ASK.
  19. What he said except the fwd pump is flusher than a rwd one, and I believe the belt runs in the same location. The rwd pump is longer to get the blades of the clutch fan closer to the radiator core.
  20. Have a search. Its been covered only around 2.7 million times.
  21. Too low for my liking, but looks cool. Good purchase. :) I wanna see all the dunlops on there. Get axles! Doesnt look very rusty either. :)
  22. I can see you didnt appreciate my input. Ive never met a person on this forum with a more apt username. Why your'e the victim of my evil blunt, second time around answers, and didnt you get a bit excited. The reason I was blunt is you asked basically the same questions twice, in two threads over a single week, and despite getting answers in the first one, you made another thread to ask further related questions? Bear in mind youve disregarded everything people have told you to do from the benefit of their experience, and you asked. This attempted smart arse crap youv'e written is completely offensive, especially considering I'm encouraging you to do a safer job on your car. This effort to over-explain yourself in a sarcastic fashion is not appropriate. Pull your head in. If you keep this crap up you won't be on Rollaclub for long. Theres a wiki on this topic as shown above, and theres a whole 'nother one about setting up fuel systems with surge tanks. :) FYI, I have done exactly what you are attempting. I'm telling you do it with an efi tank. Ive seen people go through this before, and once the tanks in people rarely if ever will pull it out. If you are going to fit a surge tank later you can fit a little lift pump inside your ae71 tank, no need to get the ae86 tank at all. You can make a surge setup work with what you already have. But hey, if the tanks from an ae86, your car will drift better right? The you can tell people its got an ae86 tank, cause that would be the only point to the swap, other than having a filler that doesnt quite work. Id prefer a neat filler area, if I were just going to retro fit a lift pump in the tank to feed a surge tank later. But hey, you already seem to have made all your decisions, so with that revelation, do whatever you want cause I don't care anymore, and don't patronise us with more questions, since you don't care what people say. Its reassuring for me to know that you will never, ever have a rush of blood and attack a corner with full force with a low tank, since you are obviously infallible and incapable of forgetting anything or making an error. :(
  23. Sounds good bud, can't wait to see it!
  24. This is the laziest thing ever seen. Copy and paste the link, my god man. Whats the world coming too. Punctuation is awesome when used correctly.
  25. I didnt do it. I was feeling lazy. This weekend however, if all my bits rock up, Ill do the lot. Although I am going to see Urthboy at the zoo with a mate on Saturday I think. Might be a bit slow to start on Sunday. :(
