That looks clean, Phil! Should be a pretty fun vehicle! I have one question. What year is the motor made? I think you may have rego trouble if the motor is older than the shell? I'm not sure exactly but it would be wise to check.

I went and did bit more sanding. Wont be long now shell be cruising around.

I wish I had that pair of MK2rs. Mine wont be quite so dishy, almost 30mm less. But they are 7s that will fit under stock gaurds. Ive filled most everything, just in need of smoothing out with the long sander. Then Ill just touch up the paint and it will be all good to refit the taillights and get rego sorted. Yay.

Heres some pics for you jesse. :) I scrubbed and guernied out the boot today. It wasnt a fun job but it had a good 25 years worth of crud inside. Its much tidier now. There was a lot of mud under the rear end of this car, makes me wonder... Oh and I found some more rust in it. Nothing in the outer shell, but in the back wheel arch on the left hand side. Theres a bit of metal just not there, but it doesnt feel that chronic. Bring the welder when you come over, Terry. lol. Rollas. Just when you remove the rust... theres more. Terry sent me photo of the ssr mk2rs that hes fixing up for me. New bolts, a polish and a good blast to clean off the 15 layers of crap paint. Coming along nicely.

Thats right bud, we fingered the roof on that parts car for the metal. Left quite a scar on the thing.

No worries, Phil. Consider it done. Mungi mods came over today and did all the rust repairs in the AE71. Its getting a little filler tomorrow to tidy it up, but who cares, its all sealed up with real metal. Now thers nothing stopping me, except a rwc. Now that there is no rust, it wont be an issue. Woot. Ill post the pics of the work a bit later if I can work out how to connect the phone with the computer. :)

Hope you like how they look from the rear, cause thats all youre gonna see of mine. lolz. Nah seriously, a stock ke70 isnt good looking. Add dished wheels, lower it, some nice touches and they look as cool as anything else. Most TA22s Ive seen didnt get done up with the whole jap style unfortunately. They look terrible in wild colours with chromies, IMO. They look great with nice period specific wheels and overrated standard paint, maybe even a gilly lip as it suits the rounded off shape of the ta22.

Yeah, I wouldn't say this car is rust free, but its no worse than the red car was I don't think. Similar mileage, but this one is in mechaically superior condition. The gearbox is super quiet, Ive never heard a t50 like it. I wonder how it will cope with double the power? Should be fun. Out of 100 I think this car is a 75. Its only got one serious bit of rust, and a few little things that will take about 5 minutes each to touch up. I just want to get it tidied up so I can get a roadworthy and push on with the conversion.

I was waiting for someone to get the joke. :P Anyhow, Its had that bit of rust removed now, Ive also cleaned, and repainted the front door sills, and I'm touching up a couple of bits of the gutters that need a lil work. Nothing too bad, the worst bit by far is the bit on the corner. I'm slowly swapping it all over to brown interior. I usually leave the b pillar plastics out, and for this reason I painted them white to match everything else. I also touched up around the fuel filler. There was a few paint chips, no rust though! I just like things to be nice and clean. I think Ill get Terry over asap to sort the rust out before it gets any worse. Theres a decent crack in the windscreen, also, so that will have to be replaced. Its right in front of the drivers face.

Whatever a persons opinion of cut springs may be, rollaclub does not encourage the use of them. Its always better to have the perfect spring for the job. Cut springs don't make the car handle as well as they should, nor do they fit the perches as well. For this reason they are illegal and frankly should be.

Thanks mate. You can tell a lot about the previous owner of a car by what they leave behind. I found an empty crown lager bottle, 3 empty UDLs, all crushed, a canadian 1 cent piece, 6 dollars in aussie coin, a wholly consumed and snapped dagwood dog stick, picked clean of the last remnants of batter. Also half a bag of slim ciggy filters strewn all over the floor, and a double a battery. Definately a former meataxes car. It even had a sony tape deck. Wooh hoo. Thankfully its modern enough that my head unit will plug straight into the wiring clip already installed in the car. Ive removed the carpet, which is not ripped, but is badly oil stained. I hosed the thing out, scrubbed the floor, removed the b pillar trims, and the trim around the doors. Its so clean now, hopefully it will smell clean. Its not too bad, just reeking a bit of the ashtray crystal things that were in the car. I'm gonna fit all the good brown interior into this car. Ive got basically all I need in Brown. I might even get some paint mixed up and redo the engine bay and tidy up some other areas as I go. I definately want to paint the bare interior. Oh, its also got a refinished head lining in it, but its a bit shit in my opinion.

Hi people, this is now the car that I'm building the 20v setup into. Its a nice straight ae71 manual csx. I'm going to fit the 20v and ae86 diff and all the good suspension stuff from the last car. Its vital stats are as follows: White paint - code AA October 84 model. CSX so it has boot and fuel poppers and a lush velour ocean lapping the inside. 397,000 klms. Runs strong as can be, but it needs the exhaust welded up for a roadyworthy certificate. The t50 feels great, the smoothest quietest one Ive driven with. :jamie: It has a little rust. The fuel filler is fine, the arches are 98 percent, the boot lip needs work but only on one edge (the bit above the lights). The bottom edges of the boot area behind the wheels are fine as well. There is one bit in the roof I will have fixed at a shop as its above the Pillar so I will nip it in the bud I think. otherwise its a clean straight example. One gaurd has a lil crease in it like when youre working on it and you lean in too hard. Its got a long scratch under the stripe behind the drivers rear wheel that you can see in the photos. Otherwise, its a nice and clean example. Ready to be reinvented.

With K motors yes, but if you find ke70 with a 4age conversion and want to fit that, you are sorely out of luck. I think the ke70 would handle better right pout of the box anyhow, so youd be mad to change shells.

That is exploroary, it was the first gps tracker link i found. Didnt read the fine print. Ive seen them for sale with sms tracking for under 200 us. I'm doing that, no need for an alarm when you know where the car is.

Or just buy a carb manifold and some Webers or if your feeling really tricky, some FCRs. No need to install an efi fuel system if you carb it, although in my opinion efi is superior to live with. Easier starts and better economy. Beerhead is spot on, a 4age will physically bolt in. You can use 20 valve motors with some work, which are the last 2 versions of the 4age, but they need some tricks to fit them. The bigports from the twin cam Jap delivered AE86s will bolt in and all the accessories will work like magic. Many people believe the smallport series of 4ages to be the best NA motor, as it has a slightly stronger bottom end. I prefer the 20 valves, theyre very rev happy. don't forget the 4agze motors either. They don't run much boost factory, but still go great. If you turbo them you can make a lot of power on a stock motor for a fair amount of time. There are different versions of 4agzes as well, many people feel that one is better than another for whatever reason. All I know is they all take punishment. Just bear in mind that you will be swapping stuff around to make any 4age work in rwd, as they are all basically front wheel drive delivered. You need an AE86 bigport if your lazy, or the same setup as delivered in the Carina of the same era.
