Nah the one off the red car is a bit shagged. Its in one piece but its kind of melted from the sump and whatnot. This ones from a Toyota Tercel, USDM version from the late 70s and early 80s. Kinda like a wheezier little corolla. I just wondered if it would fit and decided to see. Lowering will happen soon, but I want to do it properly with good gear.

Some pictures. The finished SSR mk2rs. The fitted strut brace. I threw a lip on it today. Its designed for a tercel, but fits slanty rather well I think. Took maybe 30 minutes to fit including making a bracket up for it. What do you all think of the lip?

I did a little bit today, just swapped the radiator over to one that has a thermofan attached, and wired the thermofan to a switch inside. I also pulled the dash apart and stopped the rattle that was under the stezza. While I was in the engine bay I fitted the strut brace, also.

Yes a stock 202 isnt too exciting. It would be better than the VH, and a fun thing to do I guess as a project. You can always turn up the heat once you have a driving setup. Tune it up some.

I reckon you might need to read a few more posts, champ. $120 was for the big pile of pieces I had done on the previous page. My wheel Reco for all 4 ssrs costs $250. That includes powdercoat, new high tensile allen head bolts, polishing, and re-rolling one rim that had had a tiny tap because I'm fussy. Terry does a great job. Better than the wheel restorers who charge a fortune, thats for sure.

It was mates rates at the place where Terry (mungi mods) takes all his wheel centres to be coated. Its not an expensive thing to do really, its easy enough for them, just a quick blast and hang it up and coat it. I had a few things done for work once, it cost about $50, that was just a bout 6 small pieces in flat black. Its not a very expensive thing to do. I guess it works out cheaper to get more things done in the one hit, and the colour will be uniform, also. Oh, thanks for the compliment. :P

I think hed be able to get a couple of grand for it if it was tidied up some. Id be curious about owning it. Itd be a nice rare daily. $1500 is not much to pay for a car thats rare as hens teeth and a potential racecar. But seriously, I challenge all the haters to be honest and admit that they buy things cheap if they can and sell for more. Its called business, making money, income. Checked the oil in it today. Not even on the stick. Topped her up. Didnt miss a beat. It wasnt far off the stick. Its just gotta last 4 weeks or so before its out. I reckon it will. The car just clicked over 398000klms today.

I think the chassis is designed for 4 cylinders so youd be better off building a hot starfire from a handling point of view. Ive heard first hand accounts of them being absolute animals once properly prepared. Talk to swift race engines in Brisbane, he builds lots of hot Holden sixes for race cars up here. That technology transfers straight over to the starfire. Might open your eyes to what the starfire could do.

Hi guys and girls. Id like to hear from those whove actually built a tough motor. I'm considering buying JE, CP, or Wiseco forged pistons to raise compression for a high compression atmo engine. These three brands are easily available to me for around $700 delivered a set for the 2azfe I'm putting into the other car. I'm still looking around, there may be other brands available as well, and Ill add the info when I get it. So out of the three brands mentioned above, what have you used and why? Cheers. :jamie:

Yep, $120. I'm pretty darn stoked with it. They were off Kingsford Smith Drive, Langfords I think. Its really hard to go to work each day knowing that with a few days work the 71 could be transformed. The 4ac is good for 7000rpm+ so I'm just enjoying it for what it is and not worried if it cracks up on me.

Its gonna have to wait till after Christmas. Got so much work to finish in December. I am fully ready now I believe, I doubt Ill have to leave the yard till its running once I start on it.

I now have the use of a camera again. So heres some pics. I collected the bits from the powdercoaters. I think the colour is called Aztec Silver. I reckon it looks great, not too flashy and quite a dark colour, but with a bit of gloss and shine to it as well, its really dark till the sun hits it.

I'm not sure if thats inner or outer diameter but the smaller series of corolla struts are only about 1.5 inches, and the only good shocks you can get are for a 60s triumph. Not really worth it or even for heavy enough car. Its a standard size strut that Celicas, Coronas, High end Corollas etc all have. Even TE27 had the bigger strut I think, but the normal KE20s didnt. If I were you Id be looking at my balljoints, tie rod end, and steering linkages too if the car is wandering, thats not often solely caused by strut tops.

Different Continents had different strut top patterns, we have ae86 tops as a bolt in down here (In australia) for our corolla sedans, but they ruin your caster. I had to use Caster added tops for ae86 to get my AE71 sedan perfect. I'm not sure exactly what you need, but one person who could sort you out with explicit and correct reccomendations for your car would be Gabriel at Techno toy tuning. Tonnes of people bag him on this forum but thats got little to do with him and more to do with people expecting the world for a few bucks. He is really good for this type of thing and being in North America he knows more about what your car will have installed than us. You can use AE86 struts in the corolla if you like, but I'm not sure what the brakes and strut diameter was on your car. basically you want to use a 2 inch strut so you can get awesome shocks from trd, koni, kyb etc. If you have a 2 inch strut then you can probably use ae86 power steering arms to get more lock. If you want an lsd get a Jap diff from an imported AE86 or look around locally for a gts and see what you can find. Basically you can swap almost all the sprinter suspension over.

Yes because the biggest, most ill fitting engines are always the best if they make the most power. After all, with Corollas its all about power and little to do with handling.

Josh Young has sold his original 1UZ AE86. I think it was painted out of its livery before it was sold. $16000 rings a bell? It sold for something around that.
