  1. The ST215 Caldina's also came with a 7A-FE, 3S-FE or diesel 3C-TE engine, none of which are eligible for import. As you may have guessed, the drivetrain is based off the Celica. Google Their on-paper specs are quite impressive when you consider the latest WRX has 169kW and 320nM compared to 192kW and 324nM plus other tricky bits which are only becoming standard now (like vehicle stability control) Manual versions can still be found (if they haven't already been sold to other countries). Hit up importers like Prestige Motorsports or J-Spec to keep an eye out for them at the auctions. Benefits with dealing directly with the importer is that you can set the price/specs you're after, and be alot cheaper than buying from a local dealer. Example
  2. FYI.... About 90% of the ST215 (97-02) were tiptronic auto's. They recently gained import approval (link) and have a few of compliancers already. The manual will command top dollar due to rarity. 192kW and 324nm from the gen4 3sgte. The newer ST246 are Tiptronic auto only. Import approval is pending.
  3. Why not a 1g motor? cheap as chips! http://www.sssautomotive.com.au/Engines/toyota.htm
  4. Unfortunately the colour replacements for rear-pro's are a bit expensive and on the tricky side to change. Getting the convergence right when replacing the coloured liquid is also a pain. There may also be a gel type 'coolant' which is meant to keep things cool which can leak, it can cause more problems if allowed to leak on any circuitry. Personally, i've never liked CRT rearpro's due to their picture quality and servicing. Having said that, I own a Sony Bravia 3LCD rearpro. Picture is exceptionally good for the price ($1200 for 42") and by all reports i wouldn't expect to see alot of trouble (other than the lamp). Large expensive goods should have a reasonable service life comparable to it's initial cost (An implied warranty) Therefore it is a reasonable expectation that an expensive television should last longer than 1-2-3 years, any longer then it gets harder to negotiate due to wear/tear usage. You could still try it on with the manufacturer and drop a few 'i was advised by Office of Fair Trading' lines.
  5. I've seen this do the rounds..... But alas... Linky
  6. Sounds like there's air in the system, causing an air lock once warmed up (ie. water stops circulating) Check to see if fluid needs topping up, run engine without radiator cap on till it starts warming up and bubbling out, this should clear out any air in system, top up till full and put cap back on. If there's a continued coolant loss, may indicate further problems. If not the case, check water pump.
  7. The JDM calipers are different to ADM calipers due to having clear the thicker vented rotor. JDM rotors are 18mm thick compared to 12.5mm for ADM.
  8. Apparently you can just bolt up the JDM stuff to AE86 or AE71 panel van ADM struts.
  9. Something from it's production era (mid to late '60's colours) more timeless and classic than fancy modern paints. Check other cars from that era for their colours.
  10. Looking at using JDM AE86 front vented rotors for the same conversion, at the moment i'm looking at a suitable caliper alternative instead of the overpriced originals. Hopefully i'll find a bolt up caliper without resorting to custom brackets.
  11. Here's a link to an incomplete guide to the A-series autos. LINKY There won't be any straight bolt up options in 4speed unless you can find a swappable bellhousing with maybe corona/celica etc. Might also have to factor in mounting, and whether the thing will fit!
  12. Unfortunately the A40 is also a 3 speed by Aisin-Warner, found behind the 4AC AE71. The K-series 3 speed is the A30. Apparently there was a RWD 4 speed behind an A-series engine but is found in JDM and USDM markets.
  13. People say the box is weak but ive never actually seen or heard anyone confirm this as fact.
  14. Here's what they include:
  15. Scotts old rubbers Rare Spares Spectrum auto rubber or Ebay ke10 rubbers from Thailand which i have.
  16. Hey I'm also going down this route with the '10 with a spare redtop 4age we have. Going through the research process at the moment as i also want it to be legit. Be very interested in process being undertaken. Some inspiration in the meantime.... Note the 20v has had some firewall work done.
  17. Did i mention it's for the missus? :) If it was me i wouldn't care!
  18. Hey all, I have a KE10b rolla which i'm slowly restoring as a daily for the missus. One of the requirements is that it have a Km/h speedo as the one i have is the old mph (as is most of them). I've believe i've seen a hybrid combination version with mph and km/h and maybe km/h only, does anyone know which models these were out of (perhaps later models?) and where could i possibly source one? Cheers, Col
