  1. Good luck with the build mate. If you use acrylic an oven won't be neccesary. Acrylic is also more user friendly for DIY as you require less safety gear etc.
  2. Plans sound good mate, put up a few pics when you can.
  3. Nice job mate, the grey powdercoated bits are a nice touch next to the white. Like your rims too.
  4. I have seen Funkoars, Bliss and Eso and Hilltop live. Funkoars were off tap and Bliss and Eso were great as well. When I saw Hilltop it was on their recent "State of the Art" tour and it disapointed me a bit, because they barely played anything that was not on the new album. I love their old stuff but some of the new stuff just doesn't do it for me. Also into Certified, Drapht, Horrorshow, Pez, Muph and Plutonic etc. Heard the new Ozi Batla stuff on JJJ in the last week or so, really like it. Cheers
  5. Great progress Sim ! Can't wait to see this tearing up the strip soon. :laff:
  6. Cheers, thanks mate.
  7. Thanks Si, good to know about those rods. (My budget will decide whether I can use them though lol) For a good carbie setup that does not cost as much a DCOE Webers I'd be going for SUs. You can set them up to perform quite well and also have reasonable economy.
  8. Very true. Good idea to be a wolf in sheep's clothing, not a wolf in wolf's clothing. Yes you can still get them if you look in the right places or are connected, but it's obviously harder now because tyre shops seldom stock them.
  9. This is not entirely true. In a mild street build you do still want some back pressure for torque in the low and midrange. Obviously if you fit extractors you want them to be less restrictive than a standard manifold and have them "scavenge" effectively, but you do still want some back pressure. It is the same reason as to why you don't want huge inlet ports, if the airspeed drops too much it will be useless in the mid to low rev range (yet flow a shitload up high).
  10. Sorry to be a pest mate, but what struts did you use with the sleeve kit ? Cheers.
  11. Great point. If you are wanting to increase power output, the biggest gains that can be made are in the top end. Spend a bit of time and $ improving the ports and flow.
  12. Sweet, life's good ! Love that you drove the same road 8 times !:) I'm looking forward to having a reliable car that I can just jump in and enjoy (one day!).
  13. Thanks Johno. When we did the first lot of topcoating a mate suggested we use a similar technique with electrical wire, it did a good job. I have not been as patient with some of my primer coats though. I had a go at cleaning some of the overspray off the other day and it's looking a little better. I'm not sure if the screens will stay in when I do the topcoating but if they do I will run a wire around. Cheers
  14. Looking great mate. I see you are using a coilover sleeve kit, what maker did you choose and did you use the Ke15 struts with them ?
  15. Today I guidecoated the rear left 1/4, rubbed it back and spot filled any pockmarks. Will prime it tomorrow. Also I received my Hayashi Streets (13x6 +8) thanks to LukeAE71 :dance: I think they will come up tops with some paint, a polish, and some nice centrecaps and chrome nuts. And just for laughs a test fitment minus a tyre;
  16. I wouldn't say that mate! You can get some really good results with acrylic especially with solid colours, you just need to spend time cutting back orange peel and polishing. Here is a pic of my mates car in the Ford colour "Breeze" which is a metallic. He did it all himself in his shed and his parents are totally anti cars so his Dad was no help. Don't talk down the quality of the result you can acheive yourself ! My other mates car (again he did it himself and his parents are anti-cars and of no help) this is an example of a good result in a solid colour. The other advantages to acrylic are that it's safer and user friendly.
  17. Sweet, quite a cool daily you have there.
  18. Fair call. I didn't realise you were painting 2 pack, that's a whole different ball game.
  19. Thanks Matt, I'm starting to see the end in sight now too ;) Rubbed off some more spot filler today and primed the bootlid, doors and front gaurd. I'm waiting on my left gaurd back from my mate so I can get that done.
  20. Good luck Nick, you sure have your work cut out mate ! Will you have access to or the money for a cheap daily hack ? If so I reckon you should take your time with this and build the killer rolla you had planned, you will be happy and bloody proud in the end ! You will find that spraying primer is great practice for topcoat and more forgiving. You might find that by the time you are up to topcoat you are up to the task yourself and it will save some cash. Some painters won't paint a car that they have not seen the prep for (this covers them incase the topcoat has issues due to poor prep). Found a supplier of dry ice here.

    My Ke20!

Superlites or some tasteful mags would be good. Some great examples here.
  22. Plans sound good mate. ;) Looks to be pretty original and not have huge amounts of rust present, it's nice not to have to deal with previous dodgy repairs.

Fair enough mate. Unfortunately I bought mine as a daily but have spent the last 2 years on and off working on re-spraying it !

Not a bad starting point mate. My 2 cents; I would definitely be painting the trims black/silver/grey as it looks better with a bit of contrast. If you have the time and patience a respray would be good. It seems to be reasonable in the pics (but I know pics can lie lol). I hope that's sarcastic.
  25. Thanks mate, getting close now. Hopefully it's only a matter of weeks now before I'm ready for topcoat.
