  1. Or scrap it and put on something better; ie 28/32 32/36 Weber. Better still a DCOE (ignoring the cost).
  2. Technically we are not allowed to upgrade at all. "No performance modifications" which is what the capacity increase would fall under. If you can get the swap in under vicroads you will be fine though.(Request a change of engine number and Vicroads will inspect it and record the number). It's pretty unlikely for you to be pulled over, the cop check the number and be like "Ohhh this is a mildly worked 5k, that's illegal". In a mildly worked and not outrageous looking 70s Corolla, you should not really get any negative cop attention. I think the laws intend on deterring d**kheads in Commonwhores and Skylines, rather than penalising young blokes in old cars.
  3. Yeah the old UC cops a fair bit of flak doesn't it ! My mate has a UC that ran a 202 while he was on his Ps and just recently he dropped in a 333 stroker. It sure goes a bit harder now ! Cheers.
  4. Nice little 30 mate. I know I have learnt some similar lessons from buying my car as an over-excited young bloke, but I spose that's the way we learn ! On the bright side at least it seems you don't have large amounts of rust in structural areas to deal with, nor kilos of bog and previous dodgy repairs. When you get around to an engine, might I suggest you choose the 5k. A 4age will need engineering and will be very illegal on our crap new P plate laws. You will most likely be able to get away with a warm 5k and most cops won't know what they are looking at. It sounds like we are in a very similar area, so once my car is on the road it would be great to go for a cruise. Cheers, Dougal
  5. Getting there mate, like your colour choice. :D Off topic question; what model Torana do you have ? Any details ? Cheers, Dougal
  6. Cheers mate, I reckon they should come up well with a bit of paint and a polish.
  7. Hi guys, What condition is the pasengers front gaurd in ? (On the KE20 at pick a part Campbellfield). Cheers, Dougal
  8. Clean Celica mate, you have done well with your rebuild. :P Keep us posted as you progress. Cheers, Dougal
  9. Thanks guys. I have not completely ruled out using TE27 flares, still unsure of how good they would look on a 20 though... (I also want the car to be a bit of a sleeper for a while, so flares would not help this.) Cheers, Dougal
  10. Thanks guys, sounds like 205s are about the limit then (depending on your offset). Cheers, Dougal
  11. Thanks for the tip Luke. Agreed, I figure I will roll it while I'm still preping for paint and then I will have no problems later.
  12. Looking tops man ! :) The car has come a long way since I last checked your thread. Loving the sleeper style you have going, I bet you have a bit of fun suprising people ! :P
  13. Thanks mate, nice to have a helpful response. It seems 195/205s are not unreasonable then. Cheers,
  14. I plan on eventually running 15s with a lower profile tyre due to far more tyre options being available to me at reasonable prices. Also if I run 15s on a bit of a lower profile I will have a very similar (if not the same) rolling diameter, hence my setup wont need huge modifications.
  15. Glad the kit is gone. Nice combo. Sure if you wanted great handling you would go for something lighter, but I reckon this setup would keep a smile on my face most of the time ! :P Cheers.
  16. Sorry I entered that wrong, they are 6 inches wide. Would have liked some 7s and a small to mild amount of stretch, but this is what I came accross.
  17. Great build mate, keen to see more pics. :P
  18. Hi guys, I'm interested to know what size rim and tyre combos people have managed to fit in standard Ke20 wheel arches without scrubbing. I will most probably lip my gaurds, but I'm keen to know what extent I can go width wise. I have just bought a set of 13x6 +8 Hayashi Streets and plan on running a 175/70 on them (obviously I don't think I will have an issue here). Down the track when I upgrade the brakes and diff to allow for more power, I'm thinking of running 15inch Superlites. (This is why I'm keen to know what width I can run). I do not want to tub or minitub the car. I will most likely upgrade to Corona struts with a Otomoto Coilover sleeve kit and a T series diff. In the rear end I will get the leaves reset and eyes inverted, aiming on dropping things about 2inches. Thanks, Dougal
  19. Weld them, best to get into good habits :P For the general smoothing the bog will be ok, but careful how much you use over the corners and joins. (It will tend to crack under normal driving conditions due to the bay flexing). Weld up as much as you can.
  20. For me it would be the TA22 and the EH wagon. :P EH's are great little cars and I'm also a fan of the early Celicas.
  21. Thanks mate, recovery has been going well. I have been sneaking outside and working on panels over the last few days, Mum is not so happy lol ! Will put up some pics soon. I have also bought myself a set of Hayashi Streets in 13x6 +8 thanks to LukeAE71. :P I would have preferred something wider and in 14s but this should be a good start.
  22. Thanks mate, I'm feeling good and it all went well. Maybe see if you can create a hybrid between the two styles or a style of your own, good to go for something different.
  23. I have heard of people using Dry ice on the sound deadner, it makes it more brittle and chips off easier. You might have a bit of trouble getting your hands on some though. Looking good mate.
  24. For long flat panels like that 1/4, paintstripper and a scraper will be a bit quicker. The wire brush is good for little tricky areas.
  25. Yep, as Coln72 said once you have the bottom bolts out they will. I remember I had some trouble working this out when I took out mine a little while back !
