  1. I assume GRN 055 is for Granny/Grandma KE55. Nice choice Matt, it is subtle but people can still know what you are on about.
  2. Bugger. So annoyed that I only found out about this now (kehendo mentioned it on facebook). I won't be able to come down as I have already organised a weekend waterskiing with mates. Hopefully I can make it to a rollaclub event soon ! Enjoy the night guys.
  3. Great to hear Matt, it's always good when things go to plan.
  4. Great to hear ! Lol I know all about underestimating how long it all takes. One quote I saw on another forum was; "I love deadlines, I love the whooshing sound they make as they pass you by." Take your time mate, definitley agree that it's worth being patient so the job is done right in the end.
  5. X2. Would like to see how it sits now, as I missed this when the old pics worked.
  6. Got yourself a great little bargain there Matt ! Nice cleanup you are doing, will make for a far more stylish daily. :hmm: When I was going through the papers that came with my car a while back, I found a receipt from rares for my rear venetian. From memory the figure was $170, but I would guess that as usual they would not be the cheapest place around. Keep us posted mate.
  7. Body has come up very well mate. Did you do the work yourself ? Downhill run now :)
  8. Nice plans mate, do go for the 5k if you can. Should come up nicely.
  9. Looks the goods mate, be great to see this all together in the car.
  10. Awesome. :) Great conversion mate, nice to see a Toyota powered 70 thats gonna haul some serious arse !
  11. Yeah, the bloke wanting to get it started at school had some pretty crazy plans ! lol
  12. Spotted: Mustard KE20 heading outbound on the eastern freeway, just after Doncaster Rd. On a side note, I notice a few of us seem to be at Swinburne, I have seen your car there a few times Bowler.
  13. Yeah X2 Great car you have there Toycrash, keen to see more progress and pics.
  14. Sweet, unfortunately I will be busy this weekend so can't make it down. At High School I built little model solar cars and in 2003 the national competition was in Adelaide. The competetion co-incided with both the finish of the full-scale Darwin-Adelaide race and the solar bikes/hybrids you speak of. We saw a number of cool machines and got enthused to give it a go, but the school did not have the estimated $10K we would have needed to build one and start a team.
  15. Great job mate, clean 70 you have there. Definitely agree about the green one pictured, a nice rear bumper would really improve the look of that car.
  16. Nice progress mate, your flying along. It's always good when you can strip it completely and start from base level.
  17. Good to see some progress mate, keep us posted. Great point.
  18. Thanks fellas. Through some tests recently they found I have whats called a "Cavernous Hemangioma". Basically it is a cluster of blood vessels in my brain that have expanded and are slowly bleeding. This has caused little blankouts and is why I am not driving untill they operate or I go for a certain amount of time incident free. I was actually kinda releived to hear it was this because it is completely treatable, and looks like I don't have epilepsy or similar. Like I said, I want to use this as a chance to increase the standard of the job I do and so will clean a number of areas up a little more. Now I have practiced a bit on some of these panels I feel a bit more confident at repairing some areas, and so I will most likely re-do some bits I am not happy with or that contain too much bog for my liking. I have little doubt that I will get a reasonable result, not due to me having skill with panelwork but more due to the perfectionist nature of a few of my mates. If it is looking crap my spraypainter mate will be on my arse for sure, and we wont be going near it with a spraygun lol ! (Thankfully white is a fairly forgiving colour as well) seabiscuit I will most likely get the head shaved, do a bit of a cleanup of the ports, slap a cam in it and put some extractors on. The 5k is likely to be a little more serious than this, but fairly mild. The key thing I will be looking for is a good mid-range and reasonable launches rather than a screaming top end. I want it to be a fun street car with a bit of punch in the useable rev-range. Anyway, enough talk. I need to "walk the walk" and actually make some progress again. Will update in a week or so when I start my summer break and begin to get this shell sorted. Cheers, Dougal
  19. Thanks for the kind words mate, much appreciated. I finish exams on the 25th and then plan to get stuck into those panels again. The neurologist has unfortunately extended the driving ban untill mid January, and it is likely this may extend depending on when I get my operation done.I am trying to use this as a bit of extra motivation to get it looking ship-shape by the time I can drive again. I have taken out the rear seats and parcel shelf along with the carpet and will clean this all up. Thankfully underneath the carpet there were no hidden nastys and it is just about the best paint on the car. I have had a few offers from mates to help out on the remaining bodywork so this should make things a bit easier. I plan on rubbing back the entire shell and guidecoating again, then repair the spots this shows up. My spraypainter mate has said I should get him round and he can write me a to-do list and go from there, but I am reluctant to show it to him in this half repaired state. With any luck I will be progressing again soon and I can get the exterior looking presentable. From there I will tidyup the interior and make up a few dividers/shelves and the like before overhaulling the car mechanically for roadworthy. When the car is registered I plan to upgrade the suspension and do a cheap warm up of the old 3k while I save to build a 5k. When I do the engine swap I will most likely give the engine bay a freshen-up and neaten up the wiring etc.
  20. Thanks again for coming down man, even if there were only a few of you I am sure it would have been good to stand and chat about cars. One of the girls in drive-thru came up to me a little after you guys left and said some bloke had come through asking about the cars. He said he was a cop and that they were "unroadworthy/registered" and he would get someone down to check them out and he wanted details about them. Seriously wtf ! :) You guys are down there for a good cause and not harming anyone and causing no trouble. I hate it when cops/the general public pick on car enthusiasts as a group especially when we are minding our own business. Spose your timing was good when you left. I think all your cars would have been fine, and I noticed as Grant left in his hatch that it was quiet so that should not have been a problem. Even still, I think it was an unreasonable response from this bloke.
  21. Thanks mate. Should have a few of the eastside cruiser boys down, and KEhendo with one of his mates.
  22. Awesome Johno, keen to see some progress soon. With any luck I will be doing the same in a few weeks when my exams are done.
  23. Bugger mate, thats no good at all. Glad to hear you are ok and I hope you can get back into the car etc soon.
  24. Looking tops mate, well done. Have to get us a few good vids soon, be great to see what this can do on the track. :S
  25. G'day all, Sorry about the late notice but; I work part time at Nunawading Maccas amoungst my study. As part of the "Mc Happy Day'' fundraising efforts one of my managers has asked me to help pull together a little car show to help get punters in the door and donations in the tins. For those of you who don't know, it's the one day of the year Maccas donate some profits and work at fundraising for seriously ill kids. http://www.mchappyday.com.au/ http://www.rmhc.org....ome/default.asp The general idea for the show is to have some clean Classic era cars, and other tough cars down between 12 and 2pm over lunch. Anyone who brings down a nice car will get a free lunch and drinks as a little thankyou. I have orgainised for a few cars from elsewhere but we are still struggling for numbers. We are only looking for a total of about 15-20 cars, so even if only 6-10 rollaclub cars or so could make it that would be awesome. I have heard another bloke is organising for a few cars to come and I have no idea of the style or standard of these. I guess that if a little group of rollaclub guys can make it, then a fun day could be had and maybe a cruise afterwards ? My manager said it would be good if people could be arriving by 11:15 to take their places, but I doubt you would need to be there that early. If anyone who is able to come can let me know, then we can save spots as required. Cheers, Dougal
