  1. Rear end setup looks pretty serious, love your work.
  2. Looks pretty original, nice pickup ! Any other plans apart from the walls and dumping it ?
  3. Sweet project mate, will be like it's on rails when done.
  4. Insane, what a little beauty ! As has been said, this is the true meaning of a overrated car. :lolcry: Plans sound good.
  5. Lol. Nice example mate, looks to be quite original. What are your plans ?
  6. I am far happier with the right gaurd now, and there is not much more to do on it. The left gaurd still has a few spots I am unhappy with, so will need some attention in a few places. The bootlid is close to done, but will need a few spots looked at. With any luck these panels will be finished in the next few weeks, and then my mate can cast his eye over the car and point out what needs doing before topcoat.
  7. Thanks guys, I plan on carefully tacking nails to the top and pulling them. Will see what my mate thinks. That makes sense, there is still some present on the back of my donor bonnet. Will get up some more pics tomorrow.
  8. Nice project mate, different choice and sure to be great when pulled off right. Keep us updated.
  9. Recent progress; After a few attempts at the front end of the front gaurd, I was still not happy with how it was looking so decide to start again. I ripped out all the filler and took it to a mates place where we used his oxy to heat up areas and shrink and beat them into shape. This has acheived some good results and so now this gaurd is not far off. Area that was heated and beaten; (Progress pics tomorrow) The top of the bonnet and bootlid are also now pretty close, with a little more time needed guidecoating and re-assessing, and also some time with the slide hammer on the centre bodyline of the bonnet. Hopefully these panels will be ready for topcoat soon. I am now considering using a booth for the topcoating to get a better result. I will either hire out a booth or use my spraypainter mate's shed. Unfortunately this time of year is not ideal for painting, but seeing I am close now I will continue (and also my parents want their carport back!). I have also bought some chassis-black paint so I can clean up the inside of the gaurds and wheel arches, to neated the overall look and combat more rust. On the rims front I will be looking at some mazda 13s with a chrome trim ring, for an improvement in looks and handling that suits the car. Peter Robinson said he will do me a good price so I will get a set soon after I have rego.

Looks pretty clean. Got some more pics ?
  11. Looks like a pretty good starting point mate, and also fairly original. Probabaly a good base for any project.
  12. Being such an original car I would be more keen on the grandpa look or a sleeper.(Sleeper providing all mods are reversable) Dropping a 5k or similar into the KE20 could solve that......
  13. Hell ! I didn't realise you meant they were using the forklift that way ! Idiots :) Nice score nonetheless. I like your plans also.
  14. Looking great. Keen to hear how it goes at your next outing.
  15. Good to hear. Be good to see the progress.
  16. Not a bad price. That for new ones ? To be honest, most of us would have superlites if we could lol. :) What specs are you looking at ? Still keeping your other rims ?
  17. Great starting point, looks reasonably straight.
  18. The minilite/superlite style of rim looks great on most old cars, just need to have the $ for it. Got a quote ? I think they would suit your car nicely.

Nice score. I have also noticed the guys at centre rd using forklifts with little care. Lucky you :y:
  20. Coming together well. Will be a great feeling when you start laying down the colour.
  21. Totally agree with that ! It is so good to have one that has not been stuffed with.(Mine has been :y: )
  22. Recent progress; I have been working at the gaurds and also the bootlid I bought a little while ago. After further inspection of my bonnet I decided to bite the bullet and buy another. I knew that the one on the car had a crap front edge and would have to be replaced in the long run. (If I wanted the front end to look good). The whole front edge was full of bog, and was mostly cracked. Frustratingly the left gaurd was worse than I expected. When I baremetaled it I found it was full of bog, and looked to have not been near a hammer and dolly. (Or simply made worse when it was done) I have also revisted a mates work and we welded the 'se' badge holes on the boot and also used a slide hammer to improve the panel a bit. I expect this panel should come up pretty well. I still have a fair bit of guidecoating and re-sanding left on the gaurds, which is tedious and sometimes frustrating work. I dislike having to redo things, but that comes with learning and little experience. I do not have the time, money, equipment, or experience to file finish so I have to do the best with what I have. Hopefully with a bit more time and patience I will beat out what I can, and then skim with filler and obtain a reasonable result. Sorry about all the pics, but this is a bit of a photo diary as I progress and learn. Left gaurd before; Baremetal; Etch and filler; Old bonnet; Donor bonnet;

    My Ke20

Looks good. I would go for keeping it black, sit nicely atm and blends with the flares.
  24. Sounds like good progress. Any pics ?
  25. Thanks for the pics, looks bloody awesome. Love the shot with the tyres in the car. Would still be keen to see this in person at some stage.
