  1. Great job mate, the paint has come up nicely. Sure beats the Aussie Export job it had before ! lol :jamie: I do wonder why people bother with half-assed jobs like that sometimes ! What do you have in mind for the driveline and whereabouts are you from ? Cheers, Dougal
  2. Ok. I have heard a few guys mention K-W bellhousings and apparantley they are quite rare. That's why I asked.
  3. Sweet van mate, and just round the corner from me as well ! I will have to keep my eyes out for you in future. Cheers
  4. Not a bad score mate, looks like it does not need much to be quite a respectable first car. I agree with your comments about power. The old saying " You are better learning to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car fast" rings true. A stock or near stock KE70 will be a great learning curve to start with. No good to hear about your hit your wheel arch, but I think this should not stop us building nice cars. If we all lived in worry of being hit, no nice cars would ever see the road. I think show quality streeters should still see plenty of road miles. A few steps like having full comp with a suitable company like Shannons, and minimising your risk where possible are all that's necessary. We should all observe for idiots around us on the road, park in sensible areas to avoid shopping trolley dents and drive within our limits. /end rant Cheers, Dougal
  5. I beleive so.. I'm pretty sure I saw it advertised as well.

Watanabes would be great, dunno if I'd go for a multi pattern personally. A lot of them look tacky..
  7. Thanks mate, hope so. Should be getting back into it this weekend, was at Heathcote drags with a few blokes this weekend so no updates.
  8. Out of interest, what bellhousing are you using with the w box ? Cheers, Dougal
  9. Quite respectable figures mate, and it's always nice to know you have room to improve too. Lol, well said mate.
  10. Nice score mate, will be watching your progress. :) Rims are nice, but IMO on a white car they would look better if the centres were re-painted black or silver or something. Keep us posted as you progress.
  11. Wheel arches look good, nice job Mungi Mods.

Couldn't agree more. Auto's belong in Magna's and the like or Drag cars. If you are interested in some period mags have a look on this site for a few ideas; Link. Some of them take a bit of tracking down though..
  13. I don't think I would even bother, by the looks of this car the small imperfections just add character. Maybe some period mags and reversible engine mods (warm 4k/5k) and you'd be laughing.
  14. Awesome find mate ! Hope you can get your hands on it once you finish school. If it were me I would drive it round as is (cosmetically at least) because it's just such an honest and original car. Edit: Just realised you are from Melbourne, be great to see this out cruising soon !
  15. Lol fair point. I imagine Broadmeadows deal with clapped out/dumped commodores on a regular basis, so are probabaly quite thorough. I could be wrong though. Congrats man, hope to see this on a few cruises.
  16. Sweet, thanks. :laff:
  17. Looks like a neat find, such a pity it's an auto.
  18. Booooo yeah ! Love the wheel choice :laff: We will both be cruising in style when mine is done.
  19. Thanks Matt. Nah, it's a genuine XB GT though. I've driven it a few times including when I was back on my L's :) , very sweet car !
  20. G'day guys, So the rear end has now been stripped and deoxadene'd and we have seam sealed the gutters and front of the bonnet. We also re-attached the bonnet to the skin with sikaflex and this has reduced it oilcaning. About half a day was spent with a slide hammer and hand tools pullng the rear end back out, to improve the gaps around the bootlid. The rear valence panel is still quite bent up and so I'm looking for a new one we can stitch in. I don't like my chances finding one all that much, so we might be stuck repairing the one on the car. Yesterday we gave all the baremetal a coat of etch primer, this should help seal things up and reduce future rust. We will now go around all the areas we have stripped and etched, and repair things bit by bit before stripping the rest. We plan to work around the whole car this way and get it all straight again. Stripping; Seal sealer; Bonnet re-attached; Gapping bootlid with new rubber and pulling the end out;
  21. Couldn't agree more ! Decide what your usage will be and tailor your mods to this. That way you will have a usable and sensible package. Have you read the FAQ article on how to build a tough k motor ? That's a pretty good starting point. Link HERE Cheers, Dougal
  22. Nice Celicas mate, I would'nt mind a TA22 one day.. Maybe I should call you when the time comes lol, you have so many !
  23. I'm in. Hendo can I ride with you ? Will chat closer to the date. Cheers, Dougal
  24. Great job mate, paint looks good. :P Car would look tops with some more tasteful rims.
  25. +1 for Poison Ivy, it's a great colour.
