  1. That's just round the corner so it would be pretty poor if I didn't show... Might bring down the dirty Datsun for a run.
  2. Good to hear you have rego, looking good on the Longchamps mate. Bring on the manual box! :jamie:
  3. I'm assuming it is a Starlet LSD centre ?
  4. Exactly. Yes if someone hacks up a car and doesn't complete a conversion it is a pity, but conversions "ruining" Corollas is crap. What are we ? MG owners or some kind of crazy purists?! "Ohh mate, can't go past the powerhouse 3k..." "Don't change anything, you really must have a matching numbers Corolla" Corolla's are a mass produced passenger car, not some limited edition un-modifyable machine. Make your own choice and suit your own taste. Yes I agree not all Rolla's should be cut up or neglected halfway, but I don't think we should be worried about "ruining" them with a conversion. A clean original rolla has it's importance and place, but so does a modified one.
  5. Awesome work ! Come along a great deal since I last checked. :blinks: Keep at it, loving your custom fibreglass and carbon fibre work.
  6. How much do you plan on doing yourself/do you have any fabrication skills? That would be awesome. It's something I have been considering for down the track, fair bit of work but would be incredible. A Corolla is not woth very much in the first place! Dropping the value of the car would not be at the top of my list for reasons not to do a conversion. You do make a fair point about the cost of a conversion though. The conversion process is not going to be cheap, especially if you are paying others to work on the car. young ke20 you need to work out how much money you have to spend, and how much you are capable of doing yourself. This will make the choice a fair bit clearer and may even rule out a multi-valve conversion. The 4AGE is likely to be the "cheaper" option because less custom work is required. It is still not '"cheap" though.
  7. Thanks mate, good to know. Like I said, keen to hear how you go with them. What spring rate did you choose?
  8. Here are a few recent pics; Repair almost done; Strut out and 1/4 getting closer; Out carport at home is now almost fully enclosed, man it's nice to have a good sheltered environment for the car to live and to work in!
  9. Hey, Both rear 1/4s have now been 90% repaired and are looking a lot better. No photos just yet. I'm going to fit up my rims with tyres and drop the car down to ride height to see if the gaurds need lipping/pulling for clearance. I want this to be done before the 1/4 repairs are finished and paint goes on. The car is now back at home and I have taken on of the front struts out because I need to sort out what shockers I can upgrade to. Springs will be done before RWC and maybe shockers as well (funds depending). I'm also going to strip and paint the bay so the job will be thorough. My brother and I have just bought a Datsun Stanza with; L18, Sideys and a SSS Dog-leg 5 speed as a bit of a fun daily. This takes a bit of pressure off the 20 build so I can just take my time and do things right. It will still be a bit of a 2-stage process with front coilovers and brake upgrades to come, as well as engine, diff and gearbox. I aim to progressivly upgrade with the future in mind, so generally I don't have to spend money twice. An example of this is when I upgrade to an LSD I will probably move to a shortened BW78, so it will handle future power upgrades. Hopefully a bit more will happen in my uni break next week if I don't get to bogged down in study. Cheers, Dougal
  10. Good progress mate, keen to see how you go with the struts. Is that the Otomoto kit or another?
  11. Just down the road! If I'm not to seedy after a friends 21st I will come down.
  12. Sweet, I was thinking hills over to Yarra Glen...
  13. Hi Guys, As a few of you may know I work part time at Maccas to finance my car habit whilst I'm still at uni. My store (Nunawading Mc Donalds) is currently preparing fundraising ideas for "Mc Happy Day", and I have suggested a little car show. The idea is to have a bit of a show and we can stand around for a chat and then we could go for a cruise afterwards if some are keen. The hope is that if there are a few nice cars around, then more people will be attracted to come and donate and buy Big Macs to help the kids. We are particularly interested in clean classic era cars so if you have mates with suitable cars, feel free to inform them. I will also let some of my mates know from off the forum, and hopefully we can get a nice mix of models and styles. Nunawading Mc Donalds Saturday the 13th November 11:30am-2pm Anyone who brings a car will recieve a free lunch PM me or reply in this thread if you are interested and then we can get an idea of how many spaces to hold. For more details on Mc Happy Day and the cause visit the following LINK. It really is a good cause and one of the better things that company do. Cheers, Dougal
  14. Good to see your getting things happening, I'm also a +1 for the Longchamps. Looking forward to cruising in the future.
  15. You missed my point mate, clearly we are going to have different opinions on the topic. I realise a good paintjob is all in the prep, I know all about spending ages prepping lol!
  16. Looking good guys, nice work. I can't wait to put the topcoat on mine eventually !
  17. Disagree about acrylic being shit. It's simply a different system, used well it can acheive quite good results. Durability is the issue as others have said. I will agree it will make your car "look", but diagree with the "good" part. No car mods repulse me quite as much as an "Aussie Export" hack matte black spray job. Some backyard jobs really look "backyardy" and thats a big reason why. Great results can be acheived at home with care and patience, but when you start with Aussie Export pressure packs your generally off to a bad start. /rant
  18. Now that would pull grandma off grandpa! ;) Keen to see this in the flesh, top job.
  19. Don't weld the diff if you are driving on the street.
  20. Faaarrrrk yeah mate ! Nice clean car, love the top drift pic. I'm also a fan of your new carb setup. :hmm:
  21. Looks very clean and straight from the firewall back ! Hope it's retriveable, such a pity this one copped a hit.
  22. Looks pretty good mate, particularly the interior. With a bit of love the outside will be clean to match it.
  23. Perk up mate ! It will be well worth the effort when complete, you know you don't want to be cruising round in a Daewoo forever ! :P If they are the same ones Rarespares sell, then they are not perfect. They will work but don't expect them to fit in off the shelf, they require a bit of cutting and adjusting.
  24. Sweet, don't want to leave at 10:10am instead of 10:30? lol
  25. New date would rule me out. I'm racing Sandblast with my rover crew that weekend.
