G O K A R T I N G - Deposits Now Due, See Within Plz
Bowler replied to SeptemberSquall's topic in VIC / Melbourne
yeh, y not...gets me out of the house :D when do u need deposits by, how much for the deposit too? -
There's a supercheap around the corner from you...but they wouldn't have any of it in stock - would deffinitely be able to order in though - maybe try bursons first thing tomorrow morning (they close at 12) Lights would either be order in (most places) or wreckers...
-
theres an ae92 sedan (blue i think) in the whole nine yards...they blow it up... :)
-
yeh, gtx 2, but a 15w-50 would probably be better - oil gets to the top of the engine quicker, but same viscocity as gtx2 at operating temp
-
the question is, can you use ae92 uprights inplace of ae82 ones - doesn't matter so much about what rear end is on atm, i wish to know whether all the links line up, or will we have to replace other suspension componentry.
-
hehe...HAHAHA...i'll pay that...
-
If you can get them, run whiteline or lovells...both australian - but whiteline deffinietly can send them (not sure about lovells). you'll find you're running the equivalent to a twinky (dohc 'twincam') setup in it Cheers
-
heh, i know...i jus posted a reply too before i saw this...In terms of the rear uprights, you could almost get the rear brake setup off that sx at pap, or conversely, go the drum upright off an ae92 - assuming someone with any knowlege about this area can shed some light on the situation. supposedly, you wouldn't need the rear control arms either - jus the uprights, the handbrake cable (oh, so much fun to fit) and the calipers...
-
Ok, sohc doesn't have sway bar - can get aftermarket ones from whiteline, or get one off a wrecked twinky. The front hubs (so i learnt today) will accommodate twinky springs/shocks (which are the same as ae92 springs/shocks) save for the ae82 top hat. This means that theoretically, you could run ae92 sx/gti springs shocks, with ae82 top hats, with no issue. At the back, i'm asking how hard is it to run ae92 uprights - as in to allow far again, the use of ae92 spring/shock combination. If you do run the ae92 shock, then you can get koni shocks, which as johno said, are rather shiny indeed (btw they are koni YELLOWS johno - lol). The reason why you can't bolt up ae92 struts straight away, is due to the fact that the bolt holes are an extra half inch apart on an ae92 upright.
-
Funny you should say that - i'm doing this research for johno and the ae82 owners clubs' founder whos a mate of mine. He says some people have done it before, but that could've been a whole rear end transfer, or just an upright. The brake conversion (as you might be aware) is fairly straight forward bolt off bolt on procedure for ae82/92 brakes, but involed using the standard upright, and an e10 carrier for the conversion to a ae102 disc...
-
yeh, i'e done that for the fronts, and actually, after talking to a mate, the fronts shud be straight bolt in items (just get some 92 housings). the rears on the other hand have different spacings on the bolt holes for the shock mount, so basically, the shock listings are different - but was wondering whether the uprights are interchangeable to allow for the use of 92 struts Cheers
-
Howdy folks i have a query involving uprghts - whats the difference between the ae82, and ae92 rear uprights. We're looking at installing koni shocks into an ae82, but without a listing from koni, and little info on the webs, we're unsure as to what will work. In the front, easy - ae92 struts are the same as twinky struts - so jus get hold of some front twinky hubs, and she'll be apples. The rear - ??? Conversely, if anyone here has installed konis into standard ae82 struts, would be more than interested in finding out how Cheers in advance Andrew

undo it like any other knob/bolt, righty tighty, lefty loosy....shud unscrew with a little effort

First of all, welcome. Second, I assume being a GTS, it has a big-port 4age? Mods range from bolt on things like brakes, engine (later models, like a gze/20valve/smallport), to suspension. up form that, the world is your oyster so long as its legal/passes road regs. read on through the ae series forums, and project rides, to see what people have done to their rides.
-
yeh, 4AG is still in...its a daily (not mine) atm, but soon to be getting a gze conversion...

Hmmm...looking online for pubs...seems to be not too much being advertised. So, going to go for a scouting mission (maybe Sunday). If anyone wants to come with, more than welcome. Might be necessay to even go over the route too. -
My 89 model has done 342000...all stock orginal...just starting to loose 3rd cyl now, but still pulls alright...rebuild soon. it depends on condition of course, but 300k should be expected for engines treated well
-
Hate to say it but burn (septembersquall has a point)...it makes sense to cut your teeth on something a bit more straight forward, so you understand whats required, and how much time and effort goes into some of these rides. have to say, never heard of a conversion of a v6 in a e8 onwards, but have head of an aw11 mr2, with a 3l camry engine...so nothings impossible...
-
Nice ride mate...how much did it set u back originally if u don't mind me asking? ae92 s2 brakes?
-
most of OUR RV's had the 7AFE (1.8) engine fitted. I've never come across a local example with anything but.
